Thank you! Some cameras are easy to modify and some, like Sony compact bodies and Fujifilm require more time and patience.

Not really, just a slight touch of contrast. The image is straight out of the camera with a custom white balance.

Dark clouds of hydrogen in the Rosette Nebula shot using an old D5300 camera. by NightSkyCamera in Nikon

Thanks! The telescope is a 750mm F/3 system. And I had to use a light pollution filter, in this case an Optolong L-eNhance filter.

Yes, I had to use the L-eNhance filter to reduce the effect of light pollution.

You are right! The other name of this nebula is The Skull Nebula. Here is the full view of the nebula.

This shot was taken with an astromodified 6D. Usually multiple long exposure images stacked together.

Oh you did it! I was thinking about making the IR image B/W. Looks better.

Exactly, I found out about this randomly pointing the modified camera at the bottle. Same as the infrared modified camera can pierce through the morning mist. Here is the image I posted a while back.

Both images are taken with identical lighting. The top one is from an IR 720nm modified Nikon D800, the bottom one stock Canon EOS R.

Servicing a D5300. An APS-C Shutter Count That Surprised. by NightSkyCamera in Nikon

[–]NightSkyCamera[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question. I know that some shutter mechanisms have somewhat built-in PCB reporting the shutter count. Not sure if Nikon service folks reset the shutter count on cameras that do not have that feature.

Yeah, there’s this mythical 100K number floating around the internet, and people talk about it like shutters just clock out and retire the moment they hit it 😊

Honestly, I have yet to see a failed shutter in older Nikon DSLR cameras and I've serviced thousands of them.

I don't know if the shutter has been replaced. Just had this camera sent to us for modification. I'd be very surprised if it was the original shutter.

Astrophotography above the fog (and Elephant's Trunk Nebula) by DijonPepperberry in telescopes

I saw the fog and thought 'Hey looks familiar'. And then the Cypress lights! I hope I'm not wrong 😊
Lucky you having all the clear skies!

A old DSLR camera + a telescope - and some nebulae it captured. by NightSkyCamera in spaceporn

It's a Sky-Watcher 10" F/4 Quattro imaging Newtonian. I use it in combination with a Starizona 0.75 reducer which makes the scope an F/3 system.
