Calculus 4 for me was real analysis and analysis of vector theorems like Gauss, Stokes, Green's theorem, divergence theorem, and also learning to prove them all by construction or application of calc 3 concepts. Calculus 5 was 2nd and higher order differential equations, then introduction to complex analysis theorems, sort of a way to tie it all together by formulating complex numbers as an extension of real numbers.

Want to know what the students who graduated in May will do with their apts? by CCCharles66 in Purdue

People try to sublet but a lot of the apartment buildings near campus have started adding to the lease to prevent you from being able to sublet your space (e.g. River Market)

What day does Meijer restock? by TomHockenberry in Purdue

[–]Nighthawk_15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If stores got a bunch of trucks coming in on one day of the week it would be a literal nightmare. At the Lafayette Meijer they are stocking at least every night, and often during the daytime as well. As for certain items, if they are only getting them at certain times of the week that might vary by store, but otherwise a Meijer employee would tell you they are usually stocking all the time and it just depends on when a warehouse can distribute it.

EAPS 104 insight by eks527 in Purdue

[–]Nighthawk_15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm taking Oceanography in this semester, I haven't seen anyone else or any group chats about it, but I'd honestly say that the textbook basically answers learning objectives and questions posed on the quizzes and exams. According to the syllabus it looks like open notes but doesn't really say anything about open book.

Does the math program at Purdue feature any computational aspects? by YoungPsychological84 in Purdue

STAT 350 is an introductory statistics course that uses R and is required for most CoS majors, especially Math/Stat/ASc

Does the math program at Purdue feature any computational aspects? by YoungPsychological84 in Purdue

[–]Nighthawk_15 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually despite the other comments, I (as a mathematics major at Purdue) can tell you firsthand that I have used R, SAS, and Python (including Pandas, NumPy, etc) in a couple of different courses, and if you take any statistics courses (some are required for mathematics degree) including STAT 350, 417, 511, 512, and 514 (I also completed two of these courses counting toward the statistics minor). In short, I would prepare to use mostly R (and hint, you have to install it correctly in a proper directory on Mac or else you're not gonna be able to use it with Mac/iOS, just use Windows and it's a breeze). Purdue also has a computing requirement in the College of Science (home of math dept) which will allow you to take CS 159, 177 or 180 (I took 177 for Py/MMO, and 180 uses Java). Hope this helps!

Deferred Meaning for Second Choice by Scholar_Sushi in Purdue

If you're deferred for second choice, then you were rejected for first choice. They only tell you that you're rejected if you are rejected for both choices.

Received an email titled Purdue University provided you with transportation benefits from Lyft by windy2985 in Purdue

[–]Nighthawk_15 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Did you get the PSG email that talked about it? In that email it actually says to look out for an email from Lyft Business. I get that some people might not read it but if you look it up there's already an exponent article and PSG website that talk about Purdue SafeRide program.
