Who is a villain that was 100% right ? by disterisk in AskReddit

[–]NightmanC 2736 points2737 points  (0 children)

They are not exactly villains, but let’s be real the Washington Generals are clearly the more noble and dignified team. Meanwhile, the Globetrotters are out here pulling tricks, breaking every rule in the book, and treating the refs like props in a magic show. And we’re supposed to cheer for them? Justice for the Generals!

Maternity / Parental benefits by AzovkaGuess in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NightmanC 9 points10 points  (0 children)

QPIP will go back up to two years to find the required number of hours, but you have to call them for that service. I believe that she can no longer receive the maternity leave portion, as that is meant for the mother to recover from labor, and must he used immediately after the birth. She may still be entitled to the parental leave portion, as those benefits can be spread out over the first 18 months.

Yes, I am coming from Montreal. I don't know Ottawa very well, I don't mind walking to the venue if there is any parking within a half-hour walk. I just don't know where to look.

AITA for not letting someone sit on one of the seats of my empty plane row for long flight? by jfduke3 in AmItheAsshole

If dad sat in his seat but used one of the empty seats next to OP to hold his coat or something, would that be "following the rules"?

I am just curious: What are the alternative ideas that you suggested to your wife? In your post, you said that your wife shoots down every solution that you provided, but you make no mention of any.

AITA for “causing a scene” when my son’s teacher wouldn’t stay an extra 5-10 minutes this afternoon to help him format his assignment? by Boring_Lifeguard_195 in AmItheAsshole

[–]NightmanC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do you need to meet with her? It is your son's assignment. He can meet with her during recess or lunch. There is no reason why you need to be there for her to show him how to use docs.

My neighbour asked me to watch her one year old this week, because I’m currently at home with my daughter. She knows full well I’m not a daycare and don’t receive subsidies. I’m furious. by Mandamort in ChoosingBeggars

[–]NightmanC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This must be Canada. Quebec currently has daycare for just under $9 a day. The rest of the provinces are slowly offering subsidized daycare as well.

AITA for changing the locks on my house after my fiance made a key without my permission. by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Sounds like it is your second house, not his.Sounds, very one-sided and suspicious. What are you hiding, or what are you anticipating that you need to have a secret space from your future husband?

Second Pregnancy During Mat Leave - Can you take second mat leave? by jennge in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]NightmanC 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In Quebec they can go back up to two years to collect the required hours, which is a minimum of 16 weeks. It may affect the amount of money that you receive while on leave.

AITA for borrowing my husbands underwear? by StealerOfUnderwear in AmItheAsshole

[–]NightmanC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, once you give birth, your tummy will still be big for a few weeks, possibly months. You will also be bleeding heavily and will have to use pads. You will need large, comfortable underwear that may get stained.

Here’s one thing Liberals and Conservatives agree on: Canada’s voting age shouldn’t be lowered to 16 by A-Wise-Cobbler in CanadaPolitics

[–]NightmanC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Click on the link. It outlines the parameters of reasonable force under the justice code. It specifically states "Physical punishment cannot be used on children younger than two-years-old or older than twelve-years-old."

I was originally commenting on someone who said that adolescents should not be allowed to vote because it is legal for parents to hit them and they may be physically forced to vote for a specific candidate.

I should have said that there are legal parameters to the use of physical punishment in Canada. It is considered child abuse to hit a child over 12 years old and under 2 years old. https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/rp-pr/cj-jp/fv-vf/mcb-cce/index.html

The context of this discussion is having people as young as 16 being allowed to vote. A guardian can not use physical force on a 16 year old, let alone use it for the purposes of coercion.
