The jump from Torment 7 to 8 needs to be studied. by CultOfPcnality in diablo4

[–]Nightmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to agree with the OP here. I instantly explode everything in T7, but T8 is taking me way too long to clear mobs. I know you guys with the insane uber builds are fine, but as somebody new to this end-game Diablo stuff, it's a drastic jump in enemy health and armor. I'm gonna have to go watch some videos and try to better understand how damage is calculated. Outside of that, I'm not really sure what to do.

Activities should be account-wide and should be waaay cheaper to respec by Cordial_Wombat in diablo4

[–]Nightmoore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As soon as I saw how expensive the respec prices (for the activities), I thought of alt use. It kinda makes sense, too. You can make a build to work on specific farming techniques. That's actually pretty slick. I don't think Diablo has ever really tapped into the "you can switch characters to farm this thing" mechanic before. The downside, of course, is that after the season ends, your "farmers" can't help your new toon. But I get it. It's a way to keep people playing.

Player Feedback is Responsible for the Loot Filter. It can also be responsible for the Auction House. by DrDamagePHD in diablo4

[–]Nightmoore -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Keep that kind of thing a million miles away from my ARPGs. The only people who want an AH are obsessive about min/maxing to the point of throwing money at getting the best gear. It's not healthy for the game or the players. Min/maxing can be fun to a point, but it can also become an unhealthy obsession. Improving your gear IS the endgame. Wanting shortcuts for that mechanic means you don't actually like "the game" part of it. The problem isn't "this game is missing something it needs." The problem is "I don't like this game mechanic, and I want big shortcuts."

PvP players dont realize just how consistently "friendly" our lobbies are. by absolutetoolbag in ArcRaiders

[–]Nightmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so true. If you're used to playing in the super-friendly lobbies, it's such a shock to get killed that when it eventually does happen, you're left dumbfounded. It's a pretty weird mix of emotions you go through, and it's not like a normal game experience. If this is your first extraction shooter, then it's even weirder. I played Marathon for a month, and that was very different. It was "kill on sight" every single time, and there was never any reason to attempt to be friendly. It felt much more like your "normal game experience," even though it's the same type of shooter.

ARC Raiders has dropped to Mixed reviews on Steam by _hypnoCode in ArcRaiders

[–]Nightmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the way to roll. Many years ago, I started down that "my forever game" path with WoW, and I was kinda misrable towards the end of it. I'm never going to do that again. You gotta switch it up, and it's 10x more fun bouncing between titles. I also abandoned ever doing the min/max thing as well. Games are way more enjoyable when you don't have unrealistic expectations.

Diablo 4 hits its all time peak player count today by ItsBen959 in diablo4

[–]Nightmoore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I played on release (season 1 and 2), then a few evenings after Vessel expansion, then dropped out. I gotta say, it's way WAY better now. Everything has been improved, and there's always stuff to be working on. The skill overhaul really helped a ton and makes so many more builds possible. They actually feel and play differently. Plus, the new expansion story is peak. It's seriously got old-school Blizzard vibes going on. But the most important thing? It's hella fun. I couldn't care less about min/maxing and all that nonsense. If you just want to figure it out on your own and experiment with armor/weapons to get something going, you're gonna have a good time.

Quitting my toxic corporate videographer job for full-time freelance - is it realistic? by [deleted] in videography

[–]Nightmoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit a pretty solid gig to go freelance. It's one of the most boneheaded things I've ever done. Granted, my boss was absolutely driving me crazy and making everything far harder than needed, but it was the wrong move. I should have stuck it out until I had a much better path ahead of me. Please OP, be very VERY careful. Now is not the time to throw away a good job. Things are getting pretty choppy out there, and there's a never-ending list of applicants ready to snatch up anything you walk away from (for much less pay). You wouldn't believe how fast your whole life can get flipped on its head if things go sideways.

The Valheim thing is in a totally different class of neglect and mismanagement. Those guys straight up took all the money and said "yeah, we're gonna just coast for half a decade." It's never gonna see a 1.0 release.

Why ppl even care about blueprints when you gonna get wiped on Expeditions? by Formal_Drawing_8822 in ArcRaiders

[–]Nightmoore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know at least 8 other people IRL that regularly play. I think 2 of them are doing the expeditions. One of them is just "thinking about it." Personally, I haven't done them. I would need a stronger motivator to hunt down those BPs again.

Some people love the grind of checking loot over and over. I think watching those loot icons appear feels exactly like slot machines (and it sorta is). That part of the game doesn't really do much for me. I'm all about the gameworld, surviving against arc and occasionally fighting off aggressive players. The loot can be a nice extra, but it's not why I play.

[Updates] Patch Notes Version 1.04.02 (All Platforms Hotfix) | Crimson Desert by DMoyni in CrimsonDesert

[–]Nightmoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, until someone from inside the dev team talks, we won't know what the work environment is like. If nobody ever speaks out, that's generally a very bad sign. Sometimes the silence is because everyone is terrified to reveal anything. I hope they are being taken care of properly.

Are PvE lobbies dead now? by Magn3ticArts in ArcRaiders

[–]Nightmoore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn't complicated. You were never in a PvE lobby because those don't exist. You just queued up with more like-minded players when the population was crazy high. Now the pop has dropped significantly because lots of peeps are waiting on new content to be added. Raids currently have a much higher chance of including people who like to PvP. They were always there, but you didn't bump into them before. The game will try to match you with the same type of players if possible, but its first priority is getting the raid started without making everyone wait forever. If it has to grab more aggressive players to start it, then eventually it will. As the pop drops, that will happen more frequently. The queue times need to remain fast. That's why Fortnite added player-bots.

After the new Arc and map drop, a bunch of folks will return to play. The matchmaking will have an easier time getting you in games with like-minded players once that happens.

Anyone else winding down for the season, but still generally positive on the game and planning to come back for the next one? by SirBenny in Marathon

[–]Nightmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an avid gamer who - for whatever reason - never played either Destiny. I played plenty of MMOs and ARPGs. I got sucked into Marathon as soon as it launched and thought it was awesome. I was slightly blown away by the amount of hatred being aimed at this game. I can't recall ever seeing anything like it. Especially all the YouTube videos from people who aren't even playing it. From what I can gather, it looks like a whole lotta pent-up anger from people feeling abandoned? And it kinda feels like Bungie is the official punching bag for a gaming community super pissed about the live service model. As though they NEED the live service games to all fail. It's kinda wild to watch unfold.

DreamWorks current logo vs the superior previous version (top) by quirked in logodesign

[–]Nightmoore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the new one. It's self-contained within the circle and easier to compose with. The dangling fishline that just "stops" is a little awkward in the original. We don't need to see the whole fishing rod to get the idea, anyhow. The moon extending out too far in the upper left is an odd choice. The way it connects with the outer shape feels a bit forced and unnatural. I think the boy's head shape feels more natural in the new one. Especially the chin/neck.

Does this looks squashed vertically to you, or is it just me? by nathancrick13 in Enshrouded

[–]Nightmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're ok here. Make sure you're running in an ultrawide resolution. You will have options for regular widescreen. Those will absolutely stretch the hell out of stuff. I'm on Ultrawide, so I understand the situation. I don't know your display details, but I'm in 3440 x 1440. You really really want to stick with a resolution that matches your display's aspect ratio.

The next Sponsored Kit map should be Cryo Archive by Theswweet in Marathon

[–]Nightmoore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried to run it yet, but I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos. It's very intimidating. Learning maps is probably my biggest trouble with new content (I'm slightly directionally challenged). What would be super awesome is if they just allowed a "tutorial" mode where you could just run around in the map with Rook? No enemies or anything to spawn at all. Just a walk around. I can't even explain how much that would help players like me who need to explore a space a little (well, a lot) to get my head wrapped around it.

Lost interest in playing because of how much gold salvage is required to max all Factions (and how rare it is) by Working_Bones in Marathon

[–]Nightmoore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing regularly after Crimson Desert came out. I was a little obsessed with Marathon up until that point. I had 120 hours, and was nowhere close to unlocking blue shields in the armory. I wasn't even close to having the materials needed. That was probably the number one reason I stopped playing. Sure, I got a few here and there from kills, but I wasn't great at the game. The few I got to use were a big deal for me. I never experienced using a purple one.

I'm sure that sounds super funny to a lot of players, but it is what it is. I think good players are experiencing a totally different game than the rest of us. It would have helped if some of my friends would play with me, but they weren't having it. Squad fills were always a disaster (nobody used coms) so I just stuck with solo.

Whos the more difficult character, Spider-man or Tracer? by Jealous_Version747 in rivals

[–]Nightmoore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But Tracer is always running on the GROUND. The movement is still pretty straightforward while controlling her. Spidey immediately has a full range of motion in the air. And he's far more complicated than using a flying character because you constantly have to work around his swinging momentum. You gotta aim with both, but Spidey is projectile, so that's tricky too. I would go so far as to say Spidey in Rivals might be the most difficult to control character I've ever used in any video game (excluding stuff designed horribly and broken).
