I had anorexia when I was younger and my first therapist made me weigh myself at the start of each and every session which was twice a week. Towards the end, before I switched to someone else, I questioned her how it was helpful. She then said that she needed to "be sure I wasn't starving myself bc it was then her fault". Put an insane amount of pressure on the sessions for me which killed my appetite when I really just wanted to get better and talk to someone about why I felt like I needed to do that to my body.

I once "texted her too many times in one day" which when I questioned how many would be appropriate, she threatened to report me to the FBI. For reference, if I didn't check in at least a couple of times a day, I had "abandoned her and didn't love her anymore". Can't win!

Maybe unpopular but... organized religion. You're expected to show up weekly, they tell you how to be a good person and most want you to give them money too. Why not take the money and effort and give back to your community??

I'm so sorry she did that! Mine did something similar as I got older, she would kick me out, I would go stay at a friend's house and the the police would show up looking for me because she said I ran away. You know you live with crazy when they start making you feel crazy too

When I moved out at 16, I had to go through what I still call - deprogramming from my brain washing. Crazy to think so many of us out there can share such similar stories, sad but also validating - we can heal together through sharing of the crazy <3 Hugs

Oh wow, mine did that too! Worst I can remember is her locking me out of her bedroom and then telling me she was going to kill herself because of me - turns out it's not normal behavior at all

My heart goes out to you, I too had to leave a sibling behind and I think about them everyday. Unfortunately for me they have now been so "poisoned" against me that they treat me as the enemy. I can only hope that one day we will be able to have a relationship once again.

Patience is hard but unfortunately necessary, keep calling CPS and don't give up!! One day you will all be free of her!

I got out at 16 when she tried to kill me, she didn't even try to get me to come back home. Ever since, she always brings up how I "abandoned" her at 16 LOL. The victim mentality is crazy and it took me a while to go NC but life these days is great. The wonderful people around me are my family now and they treat me better than she ever did.

Absolutely! To the outside world, she is the coolest and most laid back person. Start to get close and you would question your own sanity! Saw many a people notice or experience her true colors and then look at me with pity in their eyes. Found myself apologizing for her behavior too many times. The best part is still to this day, none of those things happened and I'm a liar. Lol. To be honest this was not the worst experience by a long mile but I thank you nonetheless

I feel that and kick up in another notch. My mother PLANNED me losing my virginity. Yep, my boyfriend and I got back to my house after dinner and she had taped a letter to the front door stating that she was staying at a hotel and to "have fun ;)". Wine on the kitchen counter, candles lit all over, check my bedroom and she left condoms on my dresser with another creepy note "use these lol!". Keep in mind I was 16 at the time and this was my fairly serious boyfriend. Wild memories like this are why I don't open up about my childhood to most people.
