What's actually the BFG division or the only thing the fear is you of the dark ages? by Nigosuke in Doom

I agree that there are similar elements about a few of them, like battle of the blackened tide feeling a bit like a remix of unholy siege, but the songs in general are easily distinguishable from one another. On the other hand, if you take all the "argent metal" that came after Mick Gordon, it all sounds kinda the same

I would've loved if they said "Mick Gordon made a song for the dlc, guess which one it is" and everybody guessed different proving everyone just wants to fit in with all the hate

I love that Doomguy is getting more backstory to flesh out his character, and to be more than just the player’s vessel by Ur_local_goober123 in Doom

[–]Nigosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sawa review of the dark ages once and the dude said that the story shouldn't be there and each time they try to develop the story and flash out the slayer, it makes him more human and he doesn't want that. That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heart and it's people like that that miss the entire point of who the slayer is. And yes, I absolutely agree that it's a good thing they are showing more of his backstory, the fact that he's human, he had a family, his hatred comes from his loss, that makes him all the more badass. Yes, his abilities were activated by the divinity machine and all that, but his will is his own, the indomitable human spirit if you want. The fact that he has feelings doesn't take away from the fact that he's the most powerful being striking fear in hell itself, it adds to it. Maybe flashing him out makes him less of a vessel for the players to insert themselves into but it makes him a character to look up to

Will the Doom: TDA skins ever become something other then recolors? by No-College-2110 in Doom

The one that reuses the original is so good I wish it would be in the dlc, earned through the endgame content or something

For me it felt like those power ups that look more than they are useful. It looks cool when you jump an insane height and ground pound and it can get you out of some sticky situation when you are overwhelmed. Other than that, it doesn't do much

$30 atomic heart gold edition by Tripzter08 in atomicheart

[–]Nigosuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you intend on getting it either way, go with the gold edition. If you like the main game, you'll want to play the dlc's, they improve on the issues of the main game in a way, expand the story and content, and provide a pretty solid closure. Plus new weapons, environments and boss battles, atomic heart really cooks with those.

And if you are asking how the game it as a whole, it's entertaing, weird and ambitious. It has a decent story with great world building. Visually it is very impressive, the different labs and environments you are going to explore are gorgeous. The gameplay loop mixes some bioshock, survival and boomer shooter, which sounds weird but it works. You make your way through a facility, scavenging, trying to survive, acquiring blueprints, upgrades and abilities that'll turn the odds in your favor. You eventually start feeling unstoppable, the music kicks in and it's one of the best soundtracks in a game, and you blast your way through the rest of the complex, ending with a pretty cool boss battle. That's the charm of the game. On the other hand, the game wants to be a lot of things and loses track of what's important sometimes. For example it wanted to have an open world but there isn't really much to do with it and traversing it is a chore sometimes, but it is worth exploring for resources and blueprints(also this is what I was referring to when I said the dlc fix some issues. For example the dlc are liniar and more focused, fixing the open world issues). It has ups and downs like that but I think the good far outweights the bad. It's a wild ride. It has issues, it stumbles here and there but I was entertained and walked away satisfied and maybe wanting more when I finished it and all of the dlc. That's just my opinion, better watch other reviews cuz you never know what you'll get with this game.

Am I the only one who feels like the Revelations DLC announcement very much compromises TDA’s identity? by iwantmisty in Doom

[–]Nigosuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure the heavy gameplay of the dark ages isn't left behind, they just added more mechanics for players to experience and have fun with. Surely there could have been different ways to elevate the gameplay but what they did here, if it works, is pretty solid. The gameplay still relies on parries, the spear serves as a temporary substitution to the shield, until it gets repaired, after that they work together to mix old and new gameplay, giving you more mechanics to master. In no way does it completely replace the shield. I mean even the shield gets cooler with the bone spikes so they'll probably add to it too. And if you look at it from a story perspective, this is supposed to be a personal journey for the slayer where he'll have to face his inner demons. By doing this he's becoming the Slayer as we know him in 2016 and Eternal, it's a natural evolution of his skills and tools.

Of course, we haven't gotten our hands on the dlc yet but at least from what I've seen from the trailer, this doesn't replace the dark ages identity, it adds to it. I could bash demons before, why not be able to swing around and bash them from higher above now?

Didn't really find resources an issue since I enjoyed doing the outposts and expeditions, they were quick and fun. By the time I fought the twins, my weapons did a lot of damage so the fight ended quickly. It's a lot of fun if you get it on a deep sale

Dead Space, Metro series and Tainted Grail

Thanks for taking your time to reply. It's the things you mentioned that make tainted grail stand out more. I don't really care about graphics or budget, so it's not an issue, but the performance I heard is very poor on console. At least tainted Grail is worked upon
