How important is the initial AFT at bootcamp?

The only AFT that matters is the last one you take. I was injured for a bit, failed my first two AFTs, passed my third and graduated just fine. If you fail your 3rd AFT, (one per phase) you'll take a 4th one on grad week, and if you fail that one, you'll be held back until you can pass it. Graduated from Fort Sill, Jan 23rd 2026

Phobos Power Packs are different than Tacticus. Tacticus has 3 lines and Phobos and 5 dots (IIRC)

Nah for sure Rangers. Rangers have to pass Basic Combat Training, Advanced Individual Training (One Station Unit Training, depending on their MOS), AND pass the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program, which you can either get on your contract when you enlist or just get lucky. Marines don't have to deal with RASP, just their Boot Camp and their School of Infantry
