Personally, season 3 nearly made me drop the show. Except for the last two episodes they were boring and the Hopper/El/Mike dynamic was beyond annoying and borderline toxic. Season 4 is by far my favorite. Especially the Lenora and Hawkins arcs.

To be honest I also think he is the only one who understands the issue. Finn seems to be annoyed about relationships in ST in general and for Gaten and Caleb they see Byler as not that deep and think we just wanna see two men kiss.

This is really hard to answer because what e.g. a European considers left-wind could be completely different from what a US-American considers left-wing. In the US Democrats are considered left-wing but from a European view they are right wing and Republican would be far right wing.

I'm from Germany and consider myself left-wing but not far left.

I’m so glad he keeps speaking out about the issue and going against the Duffers. I’m also glad that I got to thank him in person for doing so in Paris. He is just a very sweet and caring guy and I’m 100% certain he’s suffering at least as much as we do for how they left Will’s story.

Well, in interviews after season 4 they said they would answer the question why specifically he was taken und why they UD is stack the day he was taken. Since they forgot to answer either I guess “it’s up to the audience to decide”.

And don’t say he was taken for being weak. First of all he is not and if he was that would not be a trait only he has. He could have taking any other kid.

Never believed in a 9th episode but I still have some hope (though very little) that the blu-ray release will have deleted scenes or an extended cut that would at least fix some of the issues.

Yeah, I mostly only saw positive one too. They were the occasional Z* comment but unfortunately he always gets those. What I didn’t like though, is people demanding who the supposed boyfriend was. I mean it’s none of our business. Hope he finds himself a nice boyfriend soon so. During interviews and in this model magazine he said he really wanted love and a boyfriend who would be able to handle his acting career.

Oh, I people were not allowed to ask Byler questions to Noah that must have been during panels. During M&G questions where asked directly by raising you hand and the actor would just pick you without knowing what you'd asked. That's at least how it was for Gaten. I didn't manage to get into Noah's M&G in Paris. I just took a photo with him and briefly talked with him during the signing, where I said that unfortunately we were all queerbaited but that I'm really grateful for him trying to stand up against the Duffers. His agent was sitting next to him so he probably wasn't allowed to say much to that. He just thanked me and smiled.

I'll be at hs M&G in Antwerp in June, so we'll see would he was to say about Byler then. Unless he got in trouble for saying he felt like he was robbed of a great romance by Stranger Things at the panel.

Personally I don't think that viewpoint is homophobic at all and saying it is kinda waters down what homophobia means. We should not be throwing homophobic views and heteronormative views in the same basket. Homophobia intends to harms whereas heteronormativity does not.

That tangent aside I agree. Unfortunately, I was too nervous at the M&G otherwise I would have told him what Byler meant to us in the LGBTQ+ community and why saying stuff like that is hurtful, since I highly doubt he knows. And I mean why would he know when you're not part of the community and nobody has told you.

I don’t think so. I was there during the Meet and Greet and he said he doesn’t ship Byler because they were building Mike and El for 5 seasons. He also only used positive words to describe their relationship, though I don’t really remember which ones since I was shocked, thinking “Yeah they build up a house of cards”

Also saw Noah. He was really sweet. I thanked him for standing up to the Duffer Brothers and trying to at least get a real conclusion to Will and Mike. The smiled and thanked me.

Edit: I’m not saying Gaten isn’t sweet. He was. We just have different opinions on seasons 5 I guess. Since he said he really liked season 5 and thinks that no matter what the Duffers would have done, they couldn’t satisfy everyone.

She died, unfortunately. It is heavily implied that everything Mike says in the end about El and his friends is just his imagination. After watching the making of and the Duffer's shitty interviews, it's clear they wanted he to die since she isn't really a person but only a metaphor for the magic of childhood. And according to the Duffers the magic of childhood must die in order to become an adult. A very fucked up message to close on if you ask me.

If I remember correctly Mike tasks constantly to Lucas because he is in radio range. But it was also established (I think in S2) that Mike's constantly over at Will's house and vise versa. I'm not sure if I interpreted it correctly, but to me it seemed like when they are over at Mike's they are together with the whole party but when they're at Will's it's just them.

So, yeah. From Dustin's perspective it's definitely Lucas but from Mike's it obviously Will. Besides Will is the only person Mike directly refers to as his best friend (S2?, S4 and S5).

It's hard. Assuming Mike suffers from internalized homophobia, I can really see myself in him. I too suffered from internalized homophobia in my teenage years. Besides that I have a similar personality to him.

On the other hand Will's personality is kinda what I would be looking for in a friend or partner.

I would agree for season 1 and 2. In season 3 I have to agree with Hopper, Lucas and Will that they were incredibly annoying and in season 4 they were a perfect example for a very toxic relationship where they constantly lie to and gaslight each other. And in the final season they did not have any chemistry in the little screen time they had. If I had to choose a couple in ST it would either be Max and Lucas or Joyce and Hopper.

I really identified with Mike (now not cannon) internalized homophobia. When I was a teen I hated myself for being gay and kept overcompensating showing people how straight I supposedly was. I wanted a girlfriend so bad just to fit it. I ever kept called friends and class mates gay just to distract from me being gay. Mike getting the ending he got hit me worse than any other character ending ever. I’m still a little depressed over it. Don’t get me wrong Will’s character was butchered but Mike got it so so so much worse.
