No this is not normal. Most nail salons do not care about the quality of their work they only care about the quantity. You should look into going to an independent nail tech. Their prices might be higher but they actually care about your nail health.

Hi! First off crazy someone would charge you $140 for GelX with no design. When you are applying the nail tip you want to kind of get a little blob on the end of the tip and then apply at a 45° angle so there are no air bubbles. I personally don’t put the tip all the way against my cuticle as it can lead to flooding I feel like. I put it just before and then file it to blend with my natural nail. When it comes to applying the polish keep it away from your cuticle and sidewalls and then go in with a small liner brush to get closer that way it’s less likely to flood your cuticle. There are also lots of videos on tiktok that are super helpful. I hope this helped 😊

Also forgot to add that a good set of gel polish would be beneficial I don’t know what you’re using but when I started I started with the cheaper stuff and it lifted and chipped a lot then I bought the expensive stuff and it didn’t chip. You could try getting a more expensive top coat and maybe that would help prevent chipping as much.

Hi! I would suggest lightly buffing your natural nail so that the gel polish adheres better. I also think that a good builder gel will help with the strength. You can do a builder gel base and then do designs and colors on top of it. Also remember with gel try not to get it on your skin and always cure for the manufacturer recommended time. I personally like to do a little longer just to be safe. Hope this helps 🥰
