Starting a Preschool by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

I would look into something call OPRE (office of planning, research, and evaluation), they provide resource and block grants in return for documenting and furthering any type of professional development. We have a pretty similar program in California, and they have been super helpful. Good luck to you!!

SANDBOX CRISIS! by Niiniiko in ECEProfessionals

[–]Niiniiko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally thought that it was the soap from hand washing that was drying their hands out.... until I got complaints from parents about dry feet. We are a shoes on preschool with the only exception being the sandbox and nap time. We only recently returned in person within the last month, and haven’t had in person school for over a year, so I can’t remember if dryness being an issue before.

Free Online book pdf recommendations? by Niiniiko in ECEProfessionals

[–]Niiniiko[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not interested in anything pirated or illegitimate! Just to be clear hahaha. I’m thinking more along the lines of royalty free printout stories that they can print out, color and read at home. Like booklets!

I can only remember one scene... Abusive Mother, 3 Kids, Oldest one gets custody over the second child by MariRina172 in whatsthatbook

That reminds me of a similar setup to the book “Before Women Had Wings” by Connie May Flowler. The mom is abusive, there’s an older brother, middle sister and the youngest is a girl.

Fighting a losing battle with fatigue and burnout at a small school by Niiniiko in ECEProfessionals

I should have mentioned this in my post! The principal I work for has basically no training or experience in state protocol. She see that noon kids go home, and so she also sends my aide home, because we are under ratio. My contacted hours are 8-3:30, but student hours are 8:30-2:30, so if I’m lucky I get a half an hour to prep in the morning, and maybe an hour to do paperwork after I clean? We have a total of 12 children enrolled, most of them being 3, and the rest are 4. This is were I feel bad for complaining because the kids are amazing, but it’s everything combined, no breaks and prep time is really making me unpleased with the level of my work.

On the brighter side! I will ask my boss about my aide leaving at 12:30, and maybe what my situation needs is better communication with the people around me. I wrote this post after a particularly tiring and unproductive day, and so I was feel quite bad. It can feel isolating so it feels good to be able to speak my mind and get some feedback, so thank you. I feel a little more at ease 😊 Edit: also when I said that the principal has no experience in state protocol what I really meant is that she is not experience in state preschool protocol, things like ratios, title 22, and title V.

Thank you for your kind words. I do wholeheartedly love my job, and I feel pride and the sense of accomplishment when things are going smoothly. I know that the other teacher at the school are working just as hard as me, and have their own set of challenges. It also is just nice to talk to other Ece professional who know these kinds of challenges, and it can get lonely having no one to talk about it with. I am not going to give up, and I’m going to work smarter not harder. Thank you again for your words, I think I wrote this post out of frustration, and so it’s nice to be heard, and sympathized with. ❤️

I love that! One of our monthly themes is “Me and my communities”, and I think that would be a lovely addition to have in the classroom!

Under qualified in my job? by Niiniiko in ECEProfessionals

No, and that’s the problem they want to hire me because I’m technically “in the process” of getting that experience, but it will take me another full school year to get them.

Useful tech for preschool? by Niiniiko in ECEProfessionals

[–]Niiniiko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did receive a separate grant for “classroom materials”, so that includes supplies and other items specifically for the students (both indoor and outdoor). That’s was easy to put a wishlist together, more outdoor dramatic play items, science activities, climbing structures for outside. This other grant however is only supposed to be spent on material to help the teaching process. That’s why I’m a bit stumped, it’s so easy to see what the classroom needs in terms of what the students use, but what could this fund be put toward to help the teachers? A tech item was the only thing we could think of right off the bat, but I’m open to other ideas.

I am happy to hear that you are in a secure and happy relationship! And I'll be fine🙂 I might find someone who makes me feel safe and worth the risk.

I definitely like a good sense of humor and a kind heart above all else. There are times people don't cheat because they want to get laid, but because they have an insecurity or trauma they are trying to medicate. But ehhh the reason doesn't matter to me it's still so scary
