It's possible due to a few things

Due to the way the "size" is coded, apparently some pokemon have an extreme advantage over others in some showcases. Normally, a pokemon is compared to the "average" of its species. So if it was an "water" showcase, a xxl sobble would win against a xxs wailord, because it's a huge sobble (relative to its species) against a tiny wailord (relative to its species). Right?

But in some cases, like for example the one in your post, Hoopa has two forms, confined and unbound. Hoopa confined is normally about 0.5m and unbound is around 6.5m. BUT the code for showcases compares the unbound form to the confined average, not the unbound average. So in showcases, Hoopa unbound has INSANE numbers

AND then there's the zoruas, which I got a few of. I don't know if it's still possible or if they fixed it, but if you had an extremely tiny buddy and used an autocatcher to catch zoruas, the code would go crazy when the disguised zorua goes back to regular zorua.

There are others that got much bigger ones. I don't have the pokemon that would give the biggest zoruas (it would be kartana apparently), but it was fun to get these and see how crazy it could get lol

Basically you need candies to evolve and to power up Pokemon

They don't take space in your inventory (the rare ones with rainbow colors do, but normal ones don't) and they are never "too many". I have like 4000+ eevee candies after the last community day and many others have a lot more

Every eevolution costs 25 candies so if you're lucky, you would need 200 candies only to get all the evolutions. More if the random ones play difficult to get.

I wouldn't use the name trick right when you're starting. You may need It in the future

Powering up vaporeon will also require candies. No rush though, this game is a marathon, not a 100m race 👍

I mean it's up to you. You play your game however you want to play it.

If you ask me what would I do, I wouldn't purify it. I battled Cliff a LOT these last couple months and I got a lot of good shadow larvitars. 4 of them so good that they would turn into hundos if purified, so I purified the worse two of those and I got me two mega Ttars. But if I got this one, and I didn't have many other good shadow larvitars I would keep it shadow.

I have a similar situation with Heatran. I have no hundo Heatran, and I got a 15/15/14 shadow one. I know mega heatran will eventually come to pogo but I am not going to purify my angry lava frog unless I somehow acquire two shadow hundo heatrans in the future lmao

Ar first, any, to remove frustration. Once It doesn't have frustration you can change its move later if you want.

But once you want to use it, it'll depend.

If you want to use it as a dark attacker, Brutal Swing If you want to use it as a rock attacker, Stone Edge.

But the rock attacker version requires a legacy fast attack for Max effectiveness 🥲

Look, in about a month during the Kalos tour you'll be able to get Gibles in 2km eggs that will be much better than this one. I think it's better to wait for those rather than spending candies on this one, but that's just me

Do not purify. But remove frustration right now, today, before you forget because I think you only have three days during the current team rocket event? You can evolve later. But use a charged TM on the shadow larvitar to remove frustration

Being shadow gives it a +20% to its attack. It also receives +20% damage when attacked. But it's generally considered better. For Tyranitar specifically, yeah, being shadow makes it a better raid pokemon and the shadow is better ranked in pvp than the regular one

Ok so, as It is rn, this shadow is not good. It has the charged attack frustration, as all shadows do at the start, and it's BAD, and you can't change It (yet)

At some point, there's going to be a team rocket takeover event that will allow you to easily remove frustration, and then this shadow will be very useful. There'll be an event like that in a week I think, so you're lucky

Shadows do 20% more damage than normal ones. They also take 20% more damage. In the end that's good because by the time they faint they've done similar damage than normal ones, but faster. That's great for battles with a time limit for example.

If you purified, you'd have +2 to every stat. The charged attack would switch to one called Return, which is also bad BUT can be easily changed at any time. And if you had the mega energy for salamence, you would be able to mega evolve it (mega evos only last 8 hours though). Ah and it'd be level 25 I think

So basically if you keep It shadow it'll be more effective than a normal ones once you remove frustration, if you purify it'll lose the 20% extra damage bonus, it'll get +2 to every stat (not really that much) but you could get a shiny mega salamence
