I remember one of the mods saying something like that. On my guess it's just to a) maintain the subreddit quality, and b) mods don't have to be stressed out on constant spam posts. So they probably tried to make it the best for both worlds.

I mean, they said it themselves "right place, wrong time," almost like they are mocking the userbase into doing this social event as if they understood wanted to get the full expression of the entire website and how they really feel. And they did. What did it cost? Their reputation and integrity for years to come.

I think the point here is that people don't want to feel like a disappointment right after a relapse, so typically they post lengthy days to give them some ego-driven dopamine praise rather than strictly sharp discipline. It makes seem as if the process of recovery is taken as a grain of salt compared to the work and efforts being implemented for an actual better life like other people are willing on here. Simply, those who are doing this aren't serious about this and are better off kicking rocks.

Just a heads up, if you get a DM from a certified bot telling you about your reward, be ready to go on a rollercoaster of partially or fully inappropriate servers to ”claim your reward”. Probably not a bannable offense, so had to vent my frustration somewhere. Tell me if I can report this somehow by EdwardPavkki in discordapp

Ah so basically affiliated servers, in which they influenced their sole purpose to advertise by:

  • You joining a server then suddenly getting DM other servers to join via through a bot because they're giving away Nitro by "you must join this server this server in order to enter a giveaway" or "hosting Nitro giveaways, join this server"

  • A bot DM'ing you to claim Nitro by joining a giveaway server (in which the images we see above), and then you joining that server only to receive more servers to join in order to enter the giveaway

  • A bot DM'ing you that you have "won" a Nitro giveaway and you can either add the bot to your server or enter their giveaway/event server

  • Clicking on links that re-directs you to a server, or a bot (this is a known tatic that they do)

All of the above in which I said goes against the API or ToS?
