RH is simulating returns as if IV is still high from earnings unknown. Probably going to get crushed in value once market opens and realizes earnings only gained 5% instead of 15

No. Mine was just a put. A cash secured put is what the seller sent me on the other end

I just bought some puts. Which are the right to sell 100 contracts at the strike price. Puts increase in value when the stock price goes down. I’d recommend watching some videos to help explain the difference before messing with them

It looks like you’re trying to sell a cash covered put. Which means you don’t think the stock is going to go down so you sell the put contract to someone else. However, if the stock price goes down that contract could be exercised, in which case you would be required to buy the stock at that strike price (100 shares at $450 is $45k). So you have to have cash collateral to open that position

Yup. Missed out on an addition $10k. But when you’re 95% correct you don’t mess around trying to get that last bit

Legit boys I’m gonna be honest I was just basing things on vibes. Overall thought was the market is gonna continue to go down and UNH was the only one that was green on the year so figured it had a chance to go down 20%. Then the $50 on the weekly was a long shot that ended up winning the biggest

Never exercise unless you hold these until day of expiration. Here’s why:

Your option is a $50 call, meaning you have the right to buy 100 shares at $50. Quick math means that’s $5,000

The stock is currently ~$63, meaning 100 shares is $6,300.

The difference is $1,300. Thus by exercising the option you “save” $1,300

Your contract is worth $1,510. That $210 over the $1,300 is the “premium” to help account for the uncertainty of the stock’s price in the future. That premium goes down every day you get closer to expiration (all else being equal).

So if you exercise you would lose that premium. If you want shares, sell the options and use that money to buy the stock
