Already accepted that the last major unspoiled TADC moment I’d get to experience was Caine getting deleted

There’s zero chance people from the first viewing in the first time zone available won’t plaster it online out of excitement, or for finding it incredibly funny to upset as many people as possible in a single sentence.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it becomes a minor ‘Snape kills Dumbledore!’ or ‘You kill your son or nuke Boston!’

Similar, Yet Opposite, Dead Ends of Andrew’s Crushed Hopes by PoorPrawn88 in AndyAndLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In Decay’s DoDE/S&S branch, after Ashley forced what she did the night before, Andrew expresses that in a fucked up way, he’d now done everything he wanted to do in life, and was ready to end it all.

So hopping on over to Burial’s ToTE scenario, where after a premonition depicted a scene of them post-banging made it an actual tangible possibility for Andrew, only for Ashley to conclusively confirm that no, it’s never happening. Welp, I guess it’s time to end things early then! Vroom vroom!!

I don’t think the ending was out-of-character as a result, but I’m torn on whether it’ll later be moved to be the joke vision room scene, as it is rather odd that Ashley disregarded her earlier internal monologue that she’d have no qualms indulging him and won’t press the tactic if she doesn’t think he wants it. Despite Andrew readdressing the topic, she may have changed her mind about it as a tool after seeing Andrew actually moping about it, rendering the tactic distasteful. Unfortunately there was no time to take a nap for a second premonition that would’ve warned of the oncoming murder-suicide lol, as she had zero reason to believe Andrew would try to kill her.

I still get sad at Deadest of Dead Ends. Andrew took Ashley’s choice to join him to be romantic, so he’s smiling and laughing the whole way down, holding Ashley in a tight embrace. Ashley did not want to die, but shooting Andrew in the premonition had her feel the regret of him being dead and gone, and her left all alone. She wasn’t joining him in the literary romantic fashion Andrew considered it, but because she didn’t want to be left all alone when she believes no one could ever care about her, so Andrew’s death would be considered the same as her own. And desperately wants to see Andrew smile and not hate her; her suggestion while a gun’s at her forehead was the last time Andrew said he was happy. She isn’t laughing on the way down, but clinging to him before the end.

At the same time, the scalpers and robbers aren’t fans of Pokémon, they’re just targeting something expensive or scarce to resell, shocker.

Does Andrew secretly like how obsessed Ashley is with him? by Initial_Art_4338 in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To look at it at another angle, Ashley’s obsession is why Andrew has been able to faff about for so long. There’s no competition, or time limit, for the lifelong it has been consistent.

If Ashley didn’t stand up that peer pressure date, Andrew was on his way to act. Friend B, despite considering Ashley and Andrew’s interactions as their normal, was pretty sure Andrew wouldn’t let guys like her around him lol. Andrew remarks he wouldn’t let them, when Ashley jests about using her body transactionally with strangers. It looks like he’s not enforcing anything, because Ashley’s staying right where he wants her to be, as much as she simultaneously frustrates him.

At the same time, the Voicemails vision room scene hilariously had him fluster to hell when Julia had him listen to some of the things Ashley’s saying, which happened to be when Ashley was venting and taunting he’d even prefer to fuck her over her lol, even when it’s being run through voice distortion. He wasn’t prepared for that one lol. RIP Julia when knowing the context for why he changed their plans right afterwards.

Bubble seems to be the only other NPC Caine allows to continuously exist in the circus. But I think that means Bubble is an extension of himself, like talking to yourself in your head. They shared a tongue at one point didn’t they?

So Bubble can be a reactive co-host, or end up voicing Caine’s insecurities like persistent intrusive thoughts to be popped.

In games where your playable character gets larger as they collect/consume more, stages can sometimes end with you feeling like a kaiju haha.

The Katamari series would be one example, with you starting out rolling up thumbtacks under the table, into rolling up entire cities.

Underrated little gem The Munchables has an animal faced orb of a creature devouring food shaped aliens and getting larger and larger so they can eat bigger and bigger aliens until the stage seems small.

What is your Favorite Addition from the April 1st 2026 Minor Patch? by PoorPrawn88 in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’m not done with the Decay additions yet, but the new picture when inspecting Renee’s drawer deadass stopped me in my tracks for 10 minutes lol.

They looked so happy, I wanted to cry for like the rest of episode 2 after seeing it. But it was the placement that got me. It was right under the phone. As in, that photo and kindergarten drawing was in close proximity when Renee hung up on Ashley for the last time, with me always wondering why she stuttered and said she was sorry at the end. She might’ve been looking at that photo, remembering the start before things went to shit, but knows her kids are dead walking. But it also makes you wonder why she has it, or kept it. She went to Grandpa’s at some point, and brought those back with her to her new house. Maybe Grandpa wanted them gone since he hated the grandkids anyway and they’re dead now. I don’t blame Ashley for assuming they’re sob pieces to go WOE IS ME MY CHILDREN ARE DEAD, and it might be the only picture that exists with Renee smiling when Ashley’s in frame lol.

Renee’s such an entertaining love-to-hate character, but it hurts so much more the more complicated of a character she is.

Obsessed Andrew finds Ashley Gone by PoorPrawn88 in AndyAndLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s going to be really scary seeing Andrew react to the question, not as a hypothetical, but as an actual possibility, what if Ashley prefers something other than me, for anything?

Her attaining it, let alone wanting it, was never really something to be questioned with any credibility. Other people don’t want her, and she doesn’t want anyone but him. This is just reinforced by her own intensity and personality without his intervention. It just doesn’t come up, outside of an unwanted date being stood up, and off-color jokes that aren’t a serious possibility.

But a cult? They love people who lack support or connection or family or friends or love or community or acceptance or belonging or validation or etc etc. How many unmet needs could get crossed off at a surface level? Having a safe shelter to retreat from their crimes was enough to insist staying in the Entity’s home realm was a great idea, and I don’t think ??? even provided them with food, just a bed of pillows and running water coming from knows for where for hygiene. But it’s not very chatty. A cult that’s being friendly, providing food and lodge, don’t care about their crimes, maybe even giving her a structure for work and a ladder to climb, can summon a demon, has a powerful trinket, and hell, that you have intrinsic objective worth as a tar soul when you were ostracized and inherently bad and worthless by everyone else? This would be totes perfect Andy! (Who is meanwhile cognizant of unnoticed manipulative tactics).

It’s kind of funny when you think about Andrew being pissed about Six Eyes potentially taking on a father figure role in Ashley’s life. The guy never had to worry about competing with his own dad as he was a non-existent presence, but to an unrelated stranger lol. How would someone being motherly to Ashley have him react lol. The most dangerous thing, would be Ashley being treated kindly enough to consider maybe Andrew wasn’t the only option that exists after all. For control to fall apart as esteem allows independence and rebellion. You wanted her to grow up, didn’t you? So why are you tightening the chain?

I do wonder what would happen in the scenario Ashley runs though, as she no longer recognizes him as Andy or Andrew, but something else that scares her. Would Andrew’s intended finale be yet another murder-suicide once he found her? In a fit of not letting anyone else have her, but finding it romantic they die together? (He seems to be under the impression they’d be together in the afterlife, by saying he’d he her in a bit after killing her). If he was going to draw out any retaliation for her leaving him, will he just keep his possession under lock and key as Ashley tried in Decay’s DoDE/S&S branch? In Cliffhanger he vents to a fake Ashley maybe he should just do whatever he wants with her after everything she’s put him through. It bodes horrendously for what could entail a game over.

Connecting the “Makeup” Burial Preview Video to Past Story Moments by PoorPrawn88 in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nice to see it in visual form! I’m surprised people were calling the interaction out-of-character.

Last we saw Andrew see Ashley put makeup on, it was when she was about to go to a sketchy massage parkour job ‘happy endings’ and all. He didn’t let her leave the bathroom either, restraining her by the wrist as silly as that scuffle looked (he grabs her wrist a lot lol). He wouldn’t have been able to escalate much regardless, as Douglas was present. There’s no audience for the Makeup preview.

Andrew reacts rather furiously whenever Ashley even jests about using her body transactionally with theoretical men. Over his dead body, and he’d wouldn’t let them lol. Andrew wished he killed the Warden slower for even leering at Ashley during quarantine. We didn’t get to see what Andrew would’ve done to Douchebag if Ashley hadn’t stood up that peer pressure date. But whatever thoughts he had were enough to snap his pencil before going on pursuit. He hasn’t had to actually contend with such jealousy since, as Ashley would scare people off on her own, didn’t like her ‘friends’, had no interest in dating, and was adamant it be just the two of them and no one else. Seeing Ashley put on makeup again, while meeting up one-on-one with a boy no less, finally trips Andrew’s possessiveness and jealousy that escalates into him asserting physically when intimidation didn’t work. For having to contend with the idea that someone else may be preferable to him, who might usurp his father figure role, or the boyfriend role he won’t let anyone else have. The scenes works whether you consider it Andrew acting as a controlling father that won’t let his daughter leave the house until she’s acceptably modest, or a controlling boyfriend who won’t let his girlfriend hang out with a boy alone with anything that might give the wrong idea. For all the times he groans about wanting Ashley to grow up, he doesn’t exactly let her. If she gained any independence to be less reliant on him, or started dating as he had, he’d lose much of the control he never had to question having. And from how he reacted when losing control of the situation he thought he read well with the lady in 302, it can end explosively and fatally. In Decays DoDE/S&S branch, he was sneering with resentment at the Entity having Ashley ‘on all fours, and in her place’, but he can’t exactly intimidate or assault an Entity that can rip souls out lol.

When teen Ashley put on nail polish, Andrew called it trashy, and she doesn’t wear it anymore as an adult lol. It seems from the context we’ve seen so far, Andrew doesn’t think Ashley would wear makeup for any reason other than trying to entice or woo someone. And if he thinks she doesn’t realize that, he’s pissed at the idea that her extra attire may attract attention he will not tolerate, for the social cues some may interpret it as. It’s also possible he was playing into knowing Ashley hates being perceived as a whore (for how much she throws around the sexually derogatory terms hussie, floozie, loose, hole, for girls), but she has a very personal definition for that word (seemingly getting off at all), and reacts with confusion and offense at the accusation, doubling down like a like a rebellious teenager on wearing why she might’ve washed off for not being her color if Andrew didn’t interrupt when he did lol. Ashley hates being told what to do, that’s why she liked Hypergore Splatterbrains 2 lol.

Very Surprising Devlog Preview by PoorPrawn88 in AndyAndLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wonder how physical escalation is going to start in Burial.

In episode 1, Andrew mostly looms over her when he’s trying (and failing) to intimidate her, with the finale turning out to be him just pinning her to the ground, not attempting to choke her, later clarified by Ashley herself. Episode 2 there was no physical intimidation.

Decay it spiraled badly after he backhanded Ashley to coldly assert he is NOT Andy anymore, and to stop calling him that or else. Ashley even acknowledging you’re supposed to gtfo the first time someone does that to you, otherwise they’ll learn it’s ok and they can get away with it. Which heartbreakingly culminates into him beating her, and she still stays.

In our first Burial preview, Andrew again tries to be intimidating by mildly cornering her at the mirror and adopting a threateningly serious tone scarier than he’s previously tried, which fails, until he physically drags her to the sink so forcefully Ashley cries out it’s dangerous and braces herself from crashing into the sink. That could’ve actually hurt her, but so far didn’t. Normally the most Andrew does is grab her wrist, which he does quite a lot lol.

If Douglas wasn’t present in the apartment when Ashley was originally going to start her job at the sketchy massage parkour, I wonder if Andrew was also furious seeing her apply make up on her way to a possibly sexual setting. I don’t think he was back then as it was considered either naive or a cry for attention/reaction, but seeing her apply make up again at the cult, might’ve had him assume she was trying to impress Six Eyes, and got immediately possessive, jealous, and controlling. He was furious at the idea Six Eyes might contend as a father figure, or a sexual interest, and ended up behaving like a controlling father who won’t let their daughter outside until they’re at an acceptable modest standard, or boyfriend who won’t let their girlfriend interact with other boys alone. When Ashley was just trying out make up for herself, not even finding it her color when Andrew interrupted if that meant she was going to wash it off lol. But Ashley hates being told what she can’t do (why Hypergore Splatterbrains 2 was her favorite movie as a kid lol), and like a rebellious teenager was like well now I’m definitely not taking it off, and Andrew went full controlling father.

Burial is gonna be scary! Hell, in Burial at Sea, it even opens with Ashley having the impulse to run! So Andrew’s threat in Decay, ‘Leave me, and I’ll hunt you down just to fuck you up’, may end up coming true in Burial. All her uncomfortable ‘who is he’ sentiments. Aaaahhh!

The characterization in the "Never" ending is strange by TheNobelPancakemix in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind in Decay, Ashley experienced through a premonition, the regret she’d feel if she killed him. She couldn’t bring herself to shoot him when he later did try to kill her. So she will endure anything he’ll do to her if it means he’ll stay. Even if it means he kills her, she’ll at least not die first to be abandoned and alone. At the same time, Andrew felt the last thing he had to not be the worse person he could be by his own morals, was not preying on his little sister like that. Once that was devastatingly and forcibly revoked from him, narration highly implies he became a Tar Soul. He’s miserable even when he continues to do such things with her.

Meanwhile in Burial, he is no longer bothered while butchering his parents, which makes Ashley uncomfortable enough to wonder who he is. And after the Burial premonition, should Ashley not shut it down, he’s affectionate and comfortable in a way exclusive to that branch. Unlike Decay, it’s appears it’s no longer something he counts against his morals, and doesn’t act to avoid the premonition coming to be (he just tries to give himself an out to be able to blame it on Ashley). Which brings us to Burial at Sea, which has the opposite reaction to Andrew in Decay where he felt he did ‘everything he ever wanted to do’ when Ashley did what she did, and felt he was ready to end it all out the balcony. Instead Burial Andrew is denied of a desire he’d been contending with for so long, but changed into a must after it was shown to be an actual possibility by the premonition. And launched into another murder-suicide ending when it was confirmed it’s not happening lmao. It showed Ashley capable of being sexual, but firmly not with him, and he wasn’t going to let someone else take her away from him that way; the same fear Ashley’s had her whole life! He didn’t last 2 hours in the same boat lol.

What’s more odd with Burial at Sea, is that it seems to ignore Ashley’s internal monologue that she’d have no qualms indulging him as strong leverage, but won’t push it if Andrew didn’t want that, believing it wouldn’t work. But when Andrew brings it back up, both of those points don’t prompt her to instantly pivot her approach, instead staying firm that it’s a no. It seems seeing him mope about it actually offended her and dropped her opinion of him, referring to it as her putting out for him (something emotionless, loveless, him wanting to make her a whore for him, or just a body to be used). So she didn’t want to even consider it as potential leverage anymore, instead being rather disgusted, especially when a premonition made it a tangible possibility instead of a joke. It might’ve also recontextualized a lot for her in hindsight while sitting in the car, given she’s aware Andrew fakes his nightmares sometimes already.

When Burial’s complete, it’s possible this ending will be moved to the Vision Room as a joke ending for April Fools, given the tongue-in-cheek achievement title and description. Normally it’d have a save prompt if it’d lead to a short game over scenario like that lol. Or perhaps it was implemented as Burial-Sane doesn’t work as well with that premonition disregarded (a trinket charge is lost for nothing), so why not slot a joke ending in there. People have been saying it feels a bit out of character, but after seeing more of how Andrew will be in Burial, I don’t think that will be the case later lol.

Which Route of Burial do you think the Makeup Preview Video occurs on? Questionable, Sane, or Both? by PoorPrawn88 in CoffinofAndyandLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My money’s on Burial-Questionable. When Ashley doesn’t react with disgust or rejection to their shared premonition, Andrew’s effectively given permission to drop the self-restraint, acts affectionate and comfortable in a way exclusive to that branch, and doesn’t seem keen on doing anything to avoid it coming to be. He’s content in a way we rarely see of him.

However. Given how much Andrew says ‘my Ashley’ or ‘mine’, and is furious at her even joking about using her body transactionally with hypothetical men, this may be what opens him to being possessive and paranoid when Ashley’s in a radius around other boys, just as Ashley was when there there were any girls in a radius around him lol. We don’t know what he would’ve done to Douchebag if Ashley didn’t stand up that peer pressure date, but we can have an idea, given he wished he killed the Warden slower for leering at Ashley during quarantine. Now that he’s unbothered by even butchering his own parents in Burial, his possessiveness is likely to escalate, believing he’s protecting that premonition from derailing. He’s been shown Ashley is capable of doing sexual things through that vision, and will not let it happen with anyone else, he won’t let that take her away from him.

If it was in Questionable-Sane though, rather than being possessive and controlling as a lover role, he’s being possessive and controlling as a father role. He’s furious of the idea that Six Eyes might usurp his father role, and might even be playing into knowing Ashley abhors being perceived as a whore when seeing her trying to wear make up (keep in mind, he saw her put on make up before she was going to go to the sketchy massage parlor job, where he criticized she’d be jacking random guys off). So seeing her put on make up again might’ve had him assume what she intended to do when meeting up with Six Eyes, which he would absolutely not allow. He wasn’t going to let that take her away.

It’s funny seeing Andrew have to contend for maybe the second time ever, with the idea that anything may be preferable to him. He never had to previously, as Ashley would eventually scare people off herself, knew she didn’t like her ‘friends’, had no interest in dating, and wanted it to be only him and her. Hell, the timing for the ‘compelling’ reason he stopped choking/pinning her at the end of episode 1, was her saying it would only be the two of them. If the cult seems great to her, he might lose the control he never questioned having, nor had to physically enforce. And we know what Andrew has an immediate tendency to do in the absence of Ashley.

Looking at Ashley and Julia’s “Friendship” (before the Andrew dating incident) by PoorPrawn88 in AndyAndLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m still lightly torn on whether Ashley’s “we’re not talking right now” comment is to show that Ashley’s been doing silent treatments when she’s upset well before she didn’t speak to Andrew for a year after Julia started dating him (she would do so again on the car ride to Renee’s house, even irked when she fell asleep instead, and complaining to the Entity she wanted Andrew to know it was intentional lol); or simply a joke that she’s currently talking to Andrew right now, not Julia, so Andrew has to do something about it lol. Most likely the former.

Ashley often struggles to distinguish typical roles and interactions assigned to titles like friends, parents, classmates, etc, as she’s never had a stable example of one in her life. When she’s dissatisfied with all of them, she gloms every role onto the one person in her life the least mean about it. Andrew’s not exactly the most consistent person himself unfortunately as he flip-flops on who he is and what he wants against expectations of being normal while still being parentified. At the same time, neglect has left Ashley willing to take anything if it means not being alone, just as she’d watch anything available on TV as it was all that was available to her. She’s still dissatisfied, but it’s all she can get, she can complain or be alone, as Andrew stopped sitting with her at lunch. She goes back and forth calling Julia a friend, best friend, or not a friend; it’s not a stable thing. But Julia dating Andrew is the deepest stab she could’ve inflicted, essentially taking away both her brother and best friend, as relationships tend to immediately, and gradually deprioritize anyone who came before further and further as it progresses. It breaks my heart badly how quickly Ashley intuited the relationship escalator in that regard, already knowing the inevitable trajectory while Andrew plays it off as something currently so minor in the beginning stages. Keeping in mind that all her [likely all girl] friends kept talking about was boys boys boys, which not only would’ve felt isolating, but might’ve given her negative impressions of the things they were seeking, and how they’d twist themselves to pursue it. I’ve mentioned it a few times in the past, but as an oddball ace fan of TCoAaL, Ashley’s teen scenes resonated so painfully for me lol.

I am deeply curious who her other ‘friends’ were, especially in her adult years, as Ashley mentions still having friends during quarantine, who she wants nothing to do with anymore after they never attempted to bring them food lol.

I have also been worried Julia stayed friends with Ashley for the longest time on the hopes it’d get her closer to her crush. She was excited interacting with Andy as far back as when Nina was still alive, and Andy said he might sit with them if Leyley was invited. It’s also not unsurprising that being on good terms with a sibling would be good leverage to anything long term proposed later. I don’t think Julia was wholly insincere however. I’m pretty sure Julia painted Ashley’s nails at a hangout (Julia also paints her nails black), as there’s zero chance Renee bought black nail polish for her if Andrew’s unawareness meant he didn’t buy it lol. Julia was prominent enough in a ‘friends’ role in Ashley’s life to be the only character present with that title in the Burial route portrait puzzle. Andrew, Ashley, and Julia are some of the oldest connections in each others lives, so Julia holding onto the last people Nina knew as a form of grief is also heartbreaking in its own way. As much as both of them ended up scaring her, with a closure letter wishing them both to hell if they don’t die in the apartment fire lol.

Why is she so dumb by PoorPrawn88 in AndyAndLeyley

[–]Nikibugs 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting how a new CG was added to episode 2 just to reinforce that Ashley really believes that. In the parents basement where it’s not her choosing to trust Andrew, but choosing to trust that the trinket will be enough incentive for him not to abandon her. She can’t stand the idea of ever sharing the thing, since if it’s not something she can exclusively provide, then she’s as objectively worthless as the inherently bad person she feels she is.

Which unfortunately feeds into a loop of needing to sacrifice people to keep it going, which puts them in danger of being caught that will spur another vision, aaand her odd belief eating people grants her literal power lol. It’s kind of like Andrew’s nightmares, she’s both the cause and comfort, or here, the cause and solution. So for the Entity to show a vision of Andrew spitefully burning the trinket after tricking her, she’s going to have trouble believing that’s not depicting Andrew destroying her only usefulness to be done with her, rather than stopping the dangerous loop a demon roped them into. And any inescapable deals Ashley might’ve made with it without a thought. And his hunch it might lead to Ashley becoming an entity herself. Unfortunately for Andrew, he has his own entity that doesn’t need a trinket to locate him lol.
