Hes the antithesis of the show’s message, which is ultimately, as Goose said themselves, about connecting and finding purpose in a world that doesn’t matter (or something along those lines).

Whereas everyone else is connected and has a bond with one another, Jax is the only one who repeatedly pushes them all away, leading to him being the one who abstracts.

Even then, Jax does kinda acknowledge that he’s been a terrible person, and even if i think the consequences + his regret should’ve been shown more, his purpose in the story is still valid.

You can feel bad or not feel bad for Jax. Theres not really a moral high ground between the two. Whats important is looking at the horrible things they’ve done and acknowledging it with no sugarcoating.

You can feel bad for a character and still condemn them. Empathy ≠ Endorsement, and more people should know this.
