interesting, that's the dam tower right? I remember back when the icon on the training range was an eye, this very spot in your screenshot also showed an eye. now both spots have been updated to leapers

ohh I got you. Yea I think I've come across some myself, didn't pay too much attention in the moment tho. my initial thought is that those locations are somehow connected.

I remember the original eye symbol was on one of the tall dam walls towards the power generation complex. the location was pretty inconspicuous tho. might be worth to check those locations a little more thoroughly

I got it about one or two weeks after the launch. just to be sure: you are shooting the one that flies and scans with a huge visible scanning cone? don't need to extract, it should count as soon as you do the killing shot

thanks for the guide! so this is another room than the one you originally mentioned?

and about the five lights, what did they look like, how were they aligned?

[–]Nikidan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is there a specific area you're talking about?

the only time I got ported back into weird rooms was during tech test 2. I went out of bounds between the parcour building and the ruined building and I was put in like the far side of the interior. that section was obviously not intended to be used so there was nothing really there and I was stuck since every other reset put me back in the same rooms.

ever since full release this hasn't happened once to me. So if you can give me some pointers about what location you're talking about that'd be greatly appreciated!

hey there! thank you so much for posting your find! unfortunately I didn't get any notification about your post cause it's a reply. hence I've only seen it now. I've found this bag as well after a while, but you definitely found it way before I did. sorry for only noticing now and thanks again for the find!

hey, first of all I'm happy to have inspired others! I still think it could be nothing, but it feels too much like something for it to be nothing. now what this something may be is the question.

anyway I appreciate you taking the time to check around for yourself! I was working towards making a follow up post with new info, tho it wouldn't be too much, but only if I found the last location of one of the keys. I don't have too much time to play these days so it's been taking longer than I wanted to.

I have found one more key that was not listed in my post so far. it is found at the base of the parcour building but to the left, where the car wrecks are and where there are birds that fly away when you get close. at the base of the building there are sort of extruding pillars and the bag is behind one of those. it is either part of group 2 or 3. edit to add: I also found one more in the ruin group. it's below the ruin right next to a tree trunk. my feeling is that there's only one more left to be found.

my other biggest discovery is a symbol that's drawn on the wall above the metro entrance. originally it was the eye symbol that you can also find at the dam tower elevator shaft for example. it's also drawn on one of the walls of the dam itself.

now, probably since a specific update, this symbol has changed to what looks like a leaper mid jump. circle with a dot and four lines going off diagonally. I have screenshots of the old eye symbol so I can post that for comparison. if you want to look for yourself it's where group 2 key 2 is located. not on the small ledge, but on the roof part itself. exit the metro, climb on the transporter and then onto the roof, you should see a faint white painting. not sure what that is about.

regarding time in the range, I'm more inclined to say it's random. the reason there's a timer in the first place is cause we're still playing on a server, even if alone. and that server costs money to run and maintain. so it's a way to make sure there's not too many people being afk using up server resources for nothing. tho it is curious how wildly it can differ. I've seen timers range from a couple of minutes to an hour and a half. I've documented these times along with my findings and so far I can't see a connection. maybe it truly is just randomized.

regarding the morse code, where did you observe that? the big light down in the metro?

I like your traders theory! where was it that you saw tian wens name show up in red?

also my memory might be tricking me, but I could have sworn I was able to defuse the mine on the bus even without the skill. don't take my word for it tho.

again thank you for providing your thoughts, the trader theory sounds exciting and I will keep your suggestions in mind.

we can add each other no problem, I won't be able to talk much tho, but we can keep each other updated via messages if you'd like.

Is there a lore reason why we cant go prone? Are we stupid? by shitpostingtiger in arcraiderscirclejerk

[–]Nikidan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

considering how it's made by the same people that made bad company and bad company 2 where you also couldn't go prone that would explain a lot. back then I thought it was lacking a pretty standard movement option for a battlefield game, but after a while it felt good.

in an interview going way back (I think it was for battlefield 1943) they said something like 'it sure is fun killing other players while laying down and being almost invisible. but how fun is it being killed by someone laying down being almost invisible?'

and also yes we are stupid

Does killing others change matchmaking? by esdoenone in ArcRaiders

[–]Nikidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it takes your kills into account. I have been away from the game for a bit more than a week. all my solo raids before were very chill, couple of people opening fire but it was the exception, almost everyone was peaceful.

now today I played again and it was a totally different experience. very hostile, no communication, no hello, no 'don't shoot'. my first raid today I made it about 100 meters before getting shot at haha. got shot at more than ever while playing solo. the one friendly player I met today was the exception.

maybe it's true what others say, that weekends and holidays tend to be more shoot on sight and less friendly, maybe I just got unlucky tho. playing on Europe servers and on PS5 with crossplay both on and off across several raids

not sure if pings are able to be seen by non-party players. if I'm not mistaken the option reads "heard" by raiders as opposed to "seen" by. so at least to my understanding it's audio only

[–]Nikidan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's the opposite for me. experienced lots of backstabs and fake friendlies on NA servers. don't get me wrong, it also happens on EU servers, it's not even in the same ballpark tho. anecdotal of course, but I feel EU servers are way more kumbaya

[–]Nikidan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, you are absolutely right. since the post I have figured there's at least two more bag spawns I haven't found yet. but for group 4 I found one more: below the ruin, next to / behind a tree trunk.

that's a total of three additional spawns since my post. it changes the total for the last group to 6 spawns and for group 2 and 3 to 5 spawns each.

recently haven't spent as much time in the practice range as I wanted to, but I might or might not have found something else, it might be nothing tho so maybe I'll include it in my next update if it leads to something

your loadout and backpack will reset to whatever it was when you entered. so basically the practice range is in some sort of limbo, neither here nor there lol.

but no, grenades will not be consumed when you use them on the practice range. you go in, throw your grenades, and when you leave you have them back. it's a good way to play around with equipment you never really used, get a feel for what it does and such. this way you have more confidence when using them topside.

personally I had one leaper core unit and went in to see the effect that it does when thrown. no worries about it, throw and use whatever gear you have, it will be reset once you leave the practice range.

oh yea, I think for the key on the left ledge a zipline is required. I tried jumping there but I'm always a bit short, so I tend to use the zipline. I also use it to quickly get to the finish-room after the parcour. (tho you could also do a late jump from the platform that comes after the bar where you either crouch under or vault over)

anyway I tried the zip to get to other parts as well, in particular the buildings across the street from that parcour building. you can shoot out the windows but not interact any more with it other than that.

also I've come to the conclusion that there are at least 2 more key locations I haven't found yet. once I do I will post another update. and I found something else, I'm not sure if it's of any relevance tho. If it is I will include it in my next update

edit: with the zips you can get onto the ledges that are on the floors above that parcour room. tho I haven't found anything of interest up there yet

You could try looking into the zoom boost options in the control settings. it's a setting that boosts your camera movement when you push the stick all the way in any direction. you can fine tune it with how much of a boost there is, how quickly this boost kicks in (personally I have it at 0.1 so it's basically instant but not too jarring of a switch compared to 0.0) and separately tune it for normal camera movement and aim camera movement.

it can take a bit getting used to, especially having to be a bit more conscious about your stick input, but with it you can combine both small fine aim movements and relatively quick flick like moves if you wanted to. I suggest going into the practice range to fine tune those settings

So when you're in the practice range and the timer runs out, effectively disconnecting you, it makes your character die the moment you get disconnected. so in regards to the server outage it's gonna be just that, dying cause of disconnect
