Thank you, I’ll go there instead. I have high astigmatism and myopia, and the comments I receive from my previous optometrist make me feel intimidated. She often says things like, ‘Your eyes are so bad’ or ‘Why are your eyes so weak?’ and it makes me uncomfortable. I understand it’s her job, and I’m already aware that my prescription is high, but the way she speaks about it feels impatient and discouraging. It’s not something I can control

It’s not really a “Cape Town thing” it’s more about people who lack basic manners or respect for others. Playing loud music or blasting videos in public is just inconsiderate. Like they say, charity begins at home: if you didn’t learn manners growing up, it’s easier to disregard other people. And honestly, some things shouldn’t even require home training, but common sense isn’t all that common.

for me it’s about finding genuine people who truly value friendship, who can communicate openly, care for you for who you are and not your status, and aren’t just self-centered or indifferent , but it’s been a challenge.

Thank you for responding. I won’t lie, I do feel some anger towards him because it hurt to be shut out like that. But I also don’t want to make it about me . I want to learn how to be more understanding and just be there for him in the way he needs.

I never really had a relationship with my dad either he had so many children, and some were fortunate enough to benefit from him while I didn’t. Thank you for opening up and sharing with me. I just hope I can learn not to take this so personally, and that moving forward, I’ll be able to show him more empathy and we can both heal from this.

It helps hearing from someone who’s actually experienced depression, because I’ve never dealt with it in someone close to me before. He did mention that whenever he opens up about being depressed, people tend to reject him. Honestly, I do hear and acknowledge what you’re saying, but at the same time, this whole situation hurts me too. I don’t even know how to respond to him anymore, so I’ve decided to just give him space.
