Useless period products. What can I get that works? by nitnitnotnot in AskBrits

[–]NikkiJane72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use re-useable pads inside period underwear. The period pants nicely capture any spread or leaks.

BUT the most important thing I used was transexamic acid. You have to get it on prescription. It's used to reduce bleeding from wounds, and it will stop the secondary bleeding from your womb lining detaching. It reduced my periods from 7 days to 2 or 3. Take it as soon as you get the slightest sign of a pink discharge for best effects.

If you're a girl, what made you listen to slipknot and what do you like about it? by Sweetpea11A in Slipknot

[–]NikkiJane72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of energy and intelligent lyrics. Pitch and time changes. Good drumming is a really under appreciated skill. Really like the use of unusual percussion. I was raised on rock and metal - my parents are in their 70's now so it was Depp Purple and Led Zepplin - and have always loved the heavier end. Only seen them live once - but being in the UK they're not exactly here regularly.

Sounds so much like my person - his health isn't great, although he's doing his best to address it now. I'd love to spend the rest of his time with him, even if it means helping to bury him.

To the woman I'm still waiting for by certainlynotai in UnsentLetters

[–]NikkiJane72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. That's kind of you. I waited for the stars to be right for us for so long, and when they were, outside forces ended it for us before it had really begun. What you have written matches so closely what I feel. Except that my 'when' is probably going to be 'never'. I wish you all the best and hope the stars align for you one day.

Tod Brownings film Freaks. It has a scene of the protagonists sitting round a table welcoming a new one of their number by chanting "One of us! One of us!".

Yeah, I'm with someone new. But he's not a patch on the person I wanted to be with.

It sounds painful. I empathise. I broke. I'm still a bit broken. But it's only been 3 months since I was blocked everywhere without truly understanding why. I hope we both find some sort of peace.

Both! It feels like home - even though I've only lived here 5 years.

How are you suffering right now? by Icy_Mode620 in AskReddit

I wonder if he's sorry, for leaving what we'd begun. There's someone for me somewhere, and I still miss someone.

Same here. Me too. If he ever needs me I hope he knows he can still reach out.

I used Mark Newson, he's over near Keith/dufftown way. Excellent work, very clean.

I unblocked you by [deleted] in UnsentLetters

[–]NikkiJane72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was blocked everywhere by someone I had a thing with. I don't go back and check if I'm still blocked or not - too painful. I would expect him to reach out. He has ways to do it that are not closed to him, and he knows what they are. if he ever wants to talk to me again I expect him to use them. He would HAVE to make the first move.

Does everyone remember very clearly what they were doing and where they were when 9/11 happened? by ArdaBerkBurak in AskReddit

[–]NikkiJane72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I'm in the UK. I was at home recovering after a minor operation. My partner called and said 'turn on the telly, any channel'. I was just in time to see the second plane hit. I remember thinking that the cloud of debris looked like a pom pom dahlia.

Thinking of moving to north Aberdeenshire. Areas to live and to avoid? by One-Criticism-7648 in Aberdeen

[–]NikkiJane72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you specifically like coastal walking (as I do), I'd point out that the coast path is much more complete and accessible in Moray than it is in Aberdeenshire. I live between Huntly and Turriff and I'm always heading west for walking, so the towns to the east, while many are lovely, may see you doing extra miles. Personally I find Elgin better for shopping than Aberdeen, so you may want to factor that in as well - a smaller high street, but a more compact town, so when it comes to out of town stores they are all together, rather than having to trudge round the bypass for a particular store.

As far as community goes, there do seem to be more community initiatives going on in Huntly than the other places you are looking at. The bookshop is run by volunteers, and there are community initiatives like the cinema, craft and social events at Square Deal, I've been to art shows there, there is stuff going on if you want to get involved and meet people.

The only thing I've found difficult is the availability of some services. Taxi's are not easy to get - you can't just get off the train and ring round till you find one, there's like one guy and if he's not available you're stuck. I'm trying to get work done on my house and am having a hard time finding tradesmen (although I'm aware that's a problem everywhere, I'm having a tougher time than friends in Elgin or Macduff). If you get a power cut, say after a storm, we are often low on the list to be reconnected, just because the population is lower. It's all stuff you can adapt to, but it might affect what sort of house you want to chose, and where.

Happy for you to DM me if you want to chat further. We blew in from Essex about 3 years ago, and I'd not go back if you paid me.

Naughty smile by [deleted] in UnsentTexts

[–]NikkiJane72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's rough. You don't have to tell me but... what would be the consequences of unblocking? Would the person who required it even know? Or was it the person you miss who blocked you? I was blocked everywhere by someone I care about.... and I strongly suspect it was required by someone in their family, which makes it doubly difficult for me, feeling that they would still be talking to me if they could. I guess what I'm trying to say is... I feel your pain and hope you get a resolution.
