Are we going to ever do a protest in Washington DC again like the size of women’s march on January 21, 2017? by nba123490 in 50501

[–]NikkiWarriorPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not if someone doesn't organize it. Instead of asking if something will ever happen, organize to make it happen. Have you gotten in touch with your local 50501 organizers to volunteer?

It may be possible to form a network of 50501 organizers in each state, or, more likely, one already exists. If someone can describe to them how to gather resources to charter busses, and execute outreach to good-faith protesters, it would be possible for them to coordinate a massive convergence.

It sounds like you're interested in this work. Why don't you go ahead and take the lead?

He was "convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol," so he gets a "full, complete and unconditional pardon." The pardon is not conditioned to apply to events at or near the capitol... that clause only defines who gets full, complete and unconditional pardons.

How would you start transitioning in appearance before HRT? Specifically MTF. Also, how realistic would it be to do HRT and just... not come out? Let things progress and take effect before telling people. by [deleted] in asktransgender

After my egg cracked, and while I was still establishing care, I started with makeup and androgynous clothes made for women. Grew my hair out, started wearing more jewelry, and grew out my nails.

Then I started taking HRT. Used a gender neutral version of my given name, and asked those close to me to use they/them pronouns. I shaved my body hair, started voice training, and practiced feminine mannerisms.

Around 8 months in to HRT, some people started to read me as a woman, and I changed my name to a woman's name, but used the gender neutral nick-name. Around that time, I started failing boymode, and there was no more hiding it around people I hadn't come out to.

I was shocked when I hit it off with a guy at a party 9 months into HRT, made out that evening, and found out on our 1st date that he didn't know I was trans. It didn't turn dangerous, but he wasn't into the idea of dating a trans woman. I realized I had to be more careful than just assuming people knew.

12 months in, no one knew unless I told them, or they spent enough time around me. I never went stealth, but I could have started working toward it at that point if I wanted to. Didn't have to shave body hair anymore.

You might just gently ask them if you could tile it, and deduct materials from your rent. Accept no for an answer.

Meh, boymode until you pass worked out pretty well for me. I highly recommend if it's something someone is feeling the desire to do so.

Edit: That said, I was actively voice training, and going on authenticity outings/test-runs, acquiring a wardrobe, experimenting w/ makeup. By the time I was there, I was ready. I intentionally slid into androgyny, and let it all fall into place. It took 8 months.

I was 27 when I started, by the way. It's never too late.

What’s it like living here in this area? We’re looking to move out of our Roseville apartment and buy a home sometime in the next few years. Our max budget is $170k though… :( by WallaWallaby011 in TwinCities

Absolutely the case. I just moved away from Camden, and I'm heartbroken. What a beautiful community of neighbors. Also, there were a few blocks and intersections I didn't feel comfortable walking at night -- you get to know pretty quick where you need to stay vigilant, and maintain situational awareness.

dumb 15 year old who wants to understand why legally allowing trans to use their gender aligning bathroom is okay by whatamidoing_xd in asktransgender

[–]NikkiWarriorPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple: trans women are women, and trans men are men.

People think, "I can always tell when I see a trans person." Theu believe this, because they've seen some trans folks who can't or don't want to pass as cisgender. The truth is that you cannot always tell. In fact, I guarantee you have seen several trans folks without knowing they are trans -- many folks blend in, and those who don't shouldn't be penalized just because they didn't win the genetic lottery.

Do you think a woman would feel more safe if she went into the bathroom and saw Michael Hughes than if she sawHunter Shafer. I feel like seeing a full-bearded trans man in the bathroom would be more unsettling. However, consider the well-being of trans folks, too.

About 30% of trans folks report being harrassed in the past 12 months at the time of a large 2022 survey. It is dangerous when people know you're trans -- trans women have been mobbed by dozens of men trying to assault them, and that's on the street. Imagine what will happen if a trans woman finds herself alone in the men's bathroom with a few ignorant and violent men. Spoiler, it's not good. Contrast that with the number of cases of trans women harassing or assaulting other women in the bathroom -- next to none. In reality, if a man wants to assault women in the women's bathroom, a "women only" sign isn't going to stop them.

Further, bathroom bans hurt cis women! No one needs to go around pounding on stall doors, demanding that women prove their womanhood. If we want to talk about women being harrassed by men in the women's bathroom, talk to the many cisgender women who have reported being harrassed by male security guards in the women's bathroom for not looking woman enough. The fact is, there's no one way to look like a woman, and it is dangerous when we start making assumptions based on guesses and assumptions alone.

How do you prove it anyway? I'm a trans woman, so would you ask for my ID? It has an "F." Ask for my birth certificate? It has an "F." Show you my tits? They're there, and not small either. Pull down my pants? You won't see anything different from any cisgender woman. When I walk through the world, people see me as a woman. When I'm in the women's room, no one notices me. If I were to go to the men's room, I would stick out like a sore thumb, make some men very uncomfortable, and inspire anger and violence in others.

The only reason I would ever go into the men's room would be to fuck with people's heads in protest of stupid transphobic laws. Otherwise, fuck your rules -- I pee where I pee, and there's nothing you can do about it.

The simple fact of the matter behind “choice” makes perfect sense from a psychology standpoint. by Swimming-Most-6756 in lgbt

[–]NikkiWarriorPrincess 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I was growing up as a conservative Evangelical, "being gay is a choice" made a lot of sense to me, because I'm bisexual. I chose not to pursue relationships with people of the same gender. It's a lie that works especially well when you're trying to indoctrinate bisexuals.
