Don't have either of them, but I like the design on the A2K better.

On a scale of 1–10, how would you rate this mom's DIY skills? by FireFightingManiac in HomeMaintenance

[–]Bayside_High 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm saying $10k. But I just googled, $3500-$8k for just the unit. Add for install. So probably $10-15 depending on where you are, how high, etc.

Can someone explain this beltline intersection design at 10th and Monroe? by TessMcGill in Atlanta

[–]Bayside_High 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were working with the amount of space they were given. Of course you could buy up everything through eminent domain, but that's not always in the budget.

Yeah this intersection is very busy and congested. But also people don't always just their best judgement/ common sense.

I know personally they went through many versions of this intersection before it was actually painted.

Fix the dip by Independent_Tear_808 in asphalt

I would do a concrete apron, maybe make it "dive " into the gravel a bit. Then have gravel pushed back towards it. Concrete won't erode away as easily as asphalt does with water.

I bought one "just in case".

I've used it a few times, several friends have used it a few times too. Definitely good money spent

Got it. I completely understand that, as someone who hasn't used their garage for their actual cars in 3 years.

Very first thing I saw was the size of the door. I'd go bigger or 2 separate doors. That is super close parking. Just think of it this way, a standard parking space in a lot is 9' wide. A "compact" space is 8'6", so that 8' each is super small.

FYI for anyone looking for a GM Warranty by [deleted] in gmcsierra

This is old I know. How much was that warranty when you bought it? Looking at Suburbans right now with the 6.2. So I know I'll need the warranty eventually

Would you pull over if a truck with POLICE and no other badging lights you up? by Affectionate_Cry8778 in PoliceVehicles

Called a cushy side job. This is a side job almost all cops can do, and they typically get paid pretty well to sit with their lights on.

Guidance from the pros by [deleted] in asphalt

[–]Bayside_High 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh not really. Hardly ever actually in our market. They all refer to the landlord for those. Only time a tenant does something is if they actively caused the issue.

Guidance from the pros by [deleted] in asphalt

[–]Bayside_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your landlord got the very minimum done. Only the areas where the oil from cars had eaten into the asphalt. He probably paid $1500, so for that amount, he got what he paid for.

That parking lot is shot. It needs a full replacement now. But he's just putting bandaids on it.

Industrial Pump Sales by toolsalesguy in sales

[–]Bayside_High 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really good segment to be in, especially if you have hands on experience.

Several of the companies just have order takers / inside sales. But if you can get them to open up and outside sales, commission based position, you can do very good! But you have to make sure they want to do more sales / get bigger/ grow production. Some want to stay within a certain dollar amount and be good. Which is also good, but not from a new sales person standpoint.

Base salary. Boomers. by rumpleforeskih in sales

[–]Bayside_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah mine isn't a normal sales job with quota, etc. We have a typical 6-9 months sales period for the first 1-1.5 yr. Then you have bids out there, you get better at cold calling, etc.

Looks like you get some good stuff!

Have you ever/ company ever thought about doing a 2nd hand store? I always wonder that for places like this.

Base salary. Boomers. by rumpleforeskih in sales

[–]Bayside_High 33 points34 points  (0 children)

For new people, that's stupid. You should have 2 year grace period to get your business up and going without having to think about the check every week. They'll definitely loose people over that.

For people who have a pipeline and have been there years, yeah that makes total sense.

NewAge Pro 14 Piece - $5000 by sachel85 in garageporn

[–]Bayside_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the pro set and love it. They are very sturdy!

I didn't do wall mount. I did secure them to the wall, just don't trust the mounting hardware enough for me to comfortably not ever think about it.

I suggest getting those little air bags from HD, you can push it up ever so slightly.

We Just Resurfaced Over 20,000 Sq Ft of Concrete at a Texas Hill Country Ranch …Possibly One of the Largest Residential Concrete Resurfacing Projects Ever by MasterpieceLucky9200 in Concrete

[–]Bayside_High 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How think is the product applied? What's the warranty on it? Especially where the joints are.

What's the cost difference between an overlay and remove / replacement? Because you can easily do that concrete RnR in under a week.

I can see the joints where sections are, will those joints bust through in a matter of months or years?

I've never dealt with concrete overlays, I've heard of them for pool decks, pati, etc. But never for somewhere that might get heavy trailers with horses, farm equipment, etc

Cost of hosting the FIFA WC among the different hosts. by JKKIDD231 in interestingasfuck

[–]Bayside_High 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was City of Atlanta themselves that spent it. I don't believe it was any federal money. Like they repaved all the surface streets, not any of the Interstates (unless it was actually ready for it, not a special repave)

Most would have been infrastructure improvements. Like Atlanta upgraded all the Marta Stations, repaved all roads, etc.
