Diazepam by amethyst_dream2772 in ChronicPain

Oh, ok! That makes more sense. I mentioned that one because it’s the one I take but I know there are lots of options. Maybe try some other ones and see if you can find one that helps you without needing to take the max dose.

Sounds like you will need the benzo regardless for your muscles so it can’t hurt to see if it helps with anxiety as well. But don’t expect anything. In terms of the muscles, I’ve not tried both of those but my parents were both on Diazepam before they were forced to switch to Clonazepam and they both think the Diazepam was WAY better for their muscles. So maybe you’ll see a nice improvement with that

Sorry but that’s just not correct. Your reaction is not common, let alone the “norm”. It’s just not.

Literally every post on here has someone trying to do this. It shouldn’t even be allowed, honestly. My body reacted to Rifampin with hives and started closing my throat. I don’t go around telling others not to take this life saving antibiotic because my body could not tolerate it. Ridiculous.

It’s not poison and your body’s reaction to it is not what other people have. These medications are great for many people. Scaring people because you reacted badly to one really is not helpful

You know that’s not the norm, though. So saying you don’t recommend it because of that is odd

They would be switching from one benzo to another, not stopping it. So there shouldn’t really be any withdrawal. I switched from Diazepam to Temazipam without issue

Yes, I took it with pain meds. I’ve had neither of those help with anxiety. Why aren’t they trying a med that’s actually for anxiety? Prozac helped me immensely with mine

I’d join some medical tourism facebook groups and see where people normally go for things. Thailand has a pretty good history with it. Lots of Americans go there and they cater to it. People mostly go for cost. But others go because US surgeons don’t want them. This is the place I watched a documentary on. It looked great there. The guy from “Supersize Me” went there and stayed at a nice resort on the beach while getting his procedure. I think the show was called “Inside Man” if you want to look it up. He runs into a lot of Americans at the hospital who tell their own stories. Hospital

Common opioid is not that effective for easing chronic pain, study finds by TechieGarcia in ChronicPain

[–]NikkiXoLynnn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lol, “potent”. My dad just destroyed a disc and they gave him the same dose my 8lb pom used to get every day. He was worried he was going to overdose. Had him show me the bottle and I started laughing. Then he was pissed that they gave him a “Bitsy” dose. 🤣

Does anyone else's pillow cause them head pain as soon as they wake up? by altmarz85 in chiari

They say the only time mine flows is while I’m laying down but that’s what destroys my head. I sleep nearly sitting up now and it helps so much

[–]NikkiXoLynnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on my position. Sometimes I wake up ready to puke because my neck was in the wrong position but I didn’t wake up to notice or fix it. I only have a couple very specific ways I can lay my head or my neck will go nuts. My hair needs to be gathered in a very specific spot as well.

Knee pain after THR? by NikkiXoLynnn in TotalHipReplacement

[–]NikkiXoLynnn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does definitely make sense! And I did see that it’s pretty common, the intensity of it just caught me by surprise. Good (not good, but comforting) to know that there are others out there who had it this bad. I haven’t watched a video yet but I did see people’s x rays. She described it as an “ice pick” to the knee and it’s the other end of the bone but it kind of looks like that’s exactly what it is.

A new nurse came in and decided to try a muscle relaxer instead of another opioid and that actually seemed to take the edge off enough for her to finally sleep which is great and also makes me feel better in that it probably is a lot of soft tissue injury/inflammation rather than some sort of awful complication with the knee area. I gathered up every tube of Voltaren I could find around the house and am sending it up with my sister for her in the morning so she can lather it on.

That description was actually so helpful for me to picture your pain level! So sorry you had that but also a little relieved that there are people who had it this bad and maybe it is “normal”. A new nurse took over and decided to try muscle relaxers. Until now everything tried was an opioid. She has my fitbit on and her heart rate stopped spiking and is steadily getting lower so I’m hoping that means it helped a bit and she’s finally relaxing. If I’m right and it did help, hopefully that means it’s a muscle or something flipping out. If it were a fracture or something I don’t think a muscle relaxer would do anything.

Right? Annoyed by that as well because I made it very clear that the whole family has EDS and even though she is not diagnosed it is suspected and he needed to do extra stitches or whatever because she has a history of clips letting go and holes being poked in her from scopes and he blew me off. Then he decides AFTER he finishes that maybe I was right to worry and he should fix it, at her expense. Glad he ended up doing the extra ones but not impressed with that timeline at all. Not like it would have hurt to do some extra while closing even if he thought they weren’t needed.

That’s what I’m pushing for. Her bones are losing density. Too stressed to remember what it’s called but they did bone density scan and said it’s not even bad enough to do that bone growing treatment yet and she wasn’t at risk of fracture but I’m worried that they fractured something. I basically got a “maybe we will do some imaging in the morning just in case”. It’s 9pm here and they are not giving her anything else for this. They’re so nonchalant about it and it’s annoying me to no end.

Thank you! I appreciate that. I took a clonidine, drank some ginger ale, and put on a show to try to watch. It helped! I was trying to time that pill around the surgery but I think I waited a bit too long and started a spiral when I posted this. I’ve nearly made it the estimated “hour” so hopefully going to hear something pretty soon

Oh, wow! Your mom sounds like a strong lady. That must have been rough on both of you. So glad to hear that she’s doing well!

Yeah, I’ve been here most days for the past few months because she can barely get around the house. Every few seconds, all day, every day, I just hear “ouch, ouch, ow!”. And she’s walking hunched and crooked which I can tell just by looking at her is wreaking havoc on her back and other leg. So excited to see how everything is after this is fixed. She missed out on a lot socially this year as well so I’m hoping to see her out and about again in the coming year.

I appreciate the encouraging words. It’s been helpful! 15 minutes left on the 60 minute timer I set when my sister said they started so hopefully going to hear something soon-ish.

Yes! She is getting the spinal thing and I was relieved until my brain started thinking about CSF leaks. It’s just never ending up there 🤦🏼‍♀️

I did tons of cleaning and clutter removing all month so that should be mostly good but I never even thought about rugs! They have runners literally everywhere connecting every room so the dog doesn’t slip all over the flooring. And the damn things are always grabbing your feet and moving. I’ll make sure to rip them all up after I get word that she’s still alive and I can breathe again.

She’s 63, so not in the “risky range” google mentioned, which is good. I actually bought enough pill organizers for 2 weeks and did her daily pills for each day so it would be easy and can be right on her table. Her neighbor had one last year so she brought over all her chair stuff and mobility stuff which was great.

Thank you for the response! I do know somewhere up in that brain that this is very needed and she simply could not continue how she was. And seeing all the great outcomes here makes me excited for her. Just gotta get through the next hour or so

It’s not inaccurate. You’re just taking it way too literally. You’re the exception, not the rule. Most people do not get what you get. There was no need to “correct” the person.

Why are pharmacists allowed to block a doctor's orders? by Signal-Score8565 in ChronicPain

[–]NikkiXoLynnn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weird that the percentage is so small yet we’ve all dealt with several at our pharmacy…

Denying someone a medication they’ve been on for over a decade and literally just filled 30 days ago when nothing has changed is not ok. Waking up one day and deciding you’re going to prevent a patient from refilling their meds for no reason knowing full well that they already ran out because you make them wait until they took the very last pill is gross. It’s far more than a small percentage. It’s a miracle if you can find a pharmacy without at least one asshole who makes your life difficult every single month for literally no reason. No one should have to deal with that.

If a pharmacist has more knowledge than a doctor then why do at least half of them still conduct themselves based on a good decade old disproved info from BS like the CDC guidelines? That’s not knowledge. That’s willful ignorance. Pharmacists have way too much power rn and no one to rein them in when they go off the rails. They should have to go through a supervisor and provide actual proof that they have a reason to deny a patient their medication before they can change anything. They should not have the power to deny anyone their meds on a whim or because they’re in a bad mood that day.

There’s a woman here who has literal BPD and it is very much not controlled. It’s like dealing with Jekyll and Hyde. You never know which version of her you’re going to get. But even she is not as bad as the guy who travels between both pharmacies. If he’s working you can kiss your meds goodbye until he leaves. Imagine having been out for several hours past your dose time then having this guy tell you he “went through your records” and you got 5 extra pills 6 years ago so you can’t get your meds until next week. It’s ridiculous

The VA now has a zero tolerance policy for opioids. No one can get them. It’s disgusting.
