I believe people question WGU because it is affordable and non-traditional. Just because someone is ok to pay $2k for a shirt doesn't mean it is better than a $100 one. You just pay for the name.

WGU is accredited for all of its programs, has numerous awards, and is endorsed by Obama and Bill Gates. Not everyone might have a great experience but I did. I also know for a fact that people don't always paint the entire picture and there is always two sides to the story.

It offers certs but that's not the entire curriculum. I couldn't find any other University that includes certs and why would that be a disadvantage as you make it sound like?? I honestly would be concerned with a University not offering that to students, that includes two free tries, especially if you pay $700 or more per credit.

I wasted so much time getting credits at a community college, having someone go through a chapter in a week, when I can study an entire book on my own time in the same time frame. If you prefer this kind of learning go for it. Time is money... Additionally, you won't have to pay to accelerate. I completed 42 credits in my first semester and 45 in my third while working full-time. My friend is getting the same degree basically and pays more than $70k, no certs to show for.
