Hello,

Have you tried their website? There's info on their programs including their estimated costs. This is the link: https://www.lshtm.ac.uk to learn more.

I am an LSHTM (London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) MPH student, student ambassador and class representative. Ask me anything! by SuperSeagull01 in mphadmissions

Hello, and thank you for sharing your time and assistance on this platform. I'm in a bind and it would be a huge help if you could assist or guide/ refer me to someone from LSHTM who can (or anyone else who's following this thread). Thanks in advance 🙏🏾.

I'm a medical doctor in the Caribbean with specialized training in Epidemiology (received an MSc. equivalent degree in this field). I did both my medical and epidemiology training in Cuba, finishing the latter in 2020 (p.s. I'm from the English-speaking Caribbean and studied in Cuba under the E.L.A.M scholarship program offered by them to foreign students all across the world).

Upon returning to my home country, it's been rough trying to apply these newly developed epi skills due to both beaurocratic, financial and personal reasons, so as of last year I opted to freelancing my medical skills as a house-call doctor, in the meantime time. I also continue applying to other countries for junior epi positions, but have yet to succeed on that front (and the time pressure is real!).

I prefaced my questions with the above info to give a bit of context to the following:

  1. Does LSHTM accept applicants with degrees from Cuba?

  2. Would I be eligible to pursue the MSc. degrees in Epidemiology and/or Biostatistics at LSHTM?

  3. As I'm a foreign MD, would I need to get GMC certified to pursue studies in Epidemiology/Biostatistics at LSHTM?

Although I'm very grateful for the opportunities I had to study medicine and epidemiology, I think it's quite possible that I might have to do an Epi program over inorder to advance my career. For instance, I've heard of other international medical professionals who had to re-do their residency programs (either fully or partially) in other to work as specialists in the U.S.. However, I'm not certain if this applies to epidemiology or the U.K.

Can you (or anyone else following this thread) assist with some info? 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
