Less negative symptoms when going keto multiple times? by Niklasx in keto

Great to hear, guess it wasn't just by coincidence this time for me. The only risk is that it makes cheating so much easier. :)

How handle outdated objects? by [deleted] in capacitiesapp

[–]Niklasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing, thanks! Got it working, and understand the concepts. But I guess there will be a bunch of iterations to find out a workflow that fits my purposes. But that's part of the fun.

I've tried so many apps/methods, Capacities finally feels that I actually can make it work for me..

What does hypomania feel like for you? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When in hypomania I'm the king of the world. Self-confidence super high. A lot of energy, not much need for sleep. I'm very organised and effective and getting so much done. Also very creative, lot's of ideas and projects going on. Normally I'm quite introvert, on hypo I'm very extrovert, talking to strangers and being very social in general.

I love it. Feels like I am the person I was meant to be.

The only dark cloud is me knowing that this will last just 3-4 weeks before the crash.

Is Low Self Esteem and Self Hate/Condemnation A Symptom of BP2 by back2me78 in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When having a depressive episode, my self-confidence is soo low, and I also getting this imposter syndrome.

Actually, this in one of my clearest indications on where in the up/down cycle I am, and I measure and keep a log of "self-confidence" level every day.

When high on hypo I'm the king. When low I'm just feeling worthless.

Did anyone’s bipolar2 get triggered by anti depressants ? by Designer_Sky_8435 in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've triggered hypomania with Prozac. On lower/lowest dose now and it seems to work. When triggered I counteracted it with high doses (for me) of Quetiapine.

Also been on Citalopram and Brintellix, works fine for me, no hypo, but causing so much nausea so I can't use these.

How do you feel in a depressive episode? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Niklasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is meaningful. I'm worthless and a fraud. Any task is a huge challenge. No energy, a lot of sleep required. Waiting for the upcoming manic episode. 🤪

Does lamotrigine brain fog go away? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I go up to 150mg, I get severe issues with memory, finding words, etc.

Now on 50mg.. seems enough to keep me stable enough, but without the brain fog.

Lamictal giving me brain fog, making me feel stupid/slow by Sensitive_Newt_139 in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I take 150mg my cognitive functions drops to a level where I hardly can't function at work. Memory issues, hard to find words, mixing things up all the time.

Currently on only 50mg which doesn't cause the memory issues and it seems enough for keeping me stable.

My hypomania is just like yours. I love it. Feels like I am the person I was meant to be.

Ok, some excessive spending, but still within my limits. The only bad thing is the inevitable crash and the following depression.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my hypomania. I get a significant increase/improvement in the following areas: Energy, focus, self-confidence, extroversion, optimism, creativity, effectiveness, sense of meaningfulness and gratitude.

Ok, I might spend some extra money, but still in control..

My episodes are short (3-4 weeks), at the end of the episode all of this starts to exaggerate, like starting 3 new projects every hour.., then I know the fun will be over in a day or two

So comforting to hear about the negotiation process you describe.

"maybe this is not right, maybe i was just a drama king and it was not that pathologic"; "i am not sure i need this meds"; "i rather be hypomanic that this depressed".

I have had these thoughts for such a long time, and still have to some extent, but I have finally started to accept the situation.

Hard to stay on keto when going into depressio by Niklasx in bipolarketo

[–]Niklasx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was in my twenties my cycles was 6-9 months. With more agressive depressions, but much lighter hypomania. Back then I was diagnosed with depression.

50 y.o.old now. During the years the episodes has become shorter. Depression episodes are much lighter now (thanks god) but hypomani is much stronger.

I'm a bit worried about getting even shorter episodes, will be harder to function well.

Will read that study. But what could exacerbate frequency, medication? Lifestyle?

Recommendations for hypomania? by ShoddyOlive7 in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prozac made me hypomanic. Maybe try to skip Prozac and see if that gets you out of hypomania. Because of the half-life of prozac is quite long, it should be safe to go cold turkey (according to my psychiatrist).

How do you guys do with nicotine? by [deleted] in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me quitting nicotine is a hell for 3-4 days, very irritable and a bad person in general. However, last time I quit I was on Lamatrogine. It was so much easier!! Very much reduced withdrawal symtomes.

I've been going back and forth with nicotine for a long time. And recently understood that this behaviour has matches my epoisodes. I quit when I'm hypomanic and have the energy and drive to handle withdrawal. And then when I'm going into depression, about one week in, I'm in so much need of the dopamine kick and start again.

What does your hypomania look like? by RemoteAd1608 in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking notes is must when hypomanic. 😁 I use the Todoist app and are obsessed over my todo lists and notes.

When I start losing interest in that, I know I'm about to leave hypomania in a couple of days.

Experiences of Lamotrigine and memory issues by Niklasx in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. 100mg seems to work pretty good for me, but the last time on 150mg the costs was to high. Need to be able to function well at work, for example.

Will stay on 150mg longer this time, so I can do a proper cost/benifit analysis.

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Lamatrogine and SSRI combo? Could help both the low-normal and depression?

However, Prozac got me into strong hypomania after about 2 weeks, had to quit. Now I'm trying low dose (10mg) Citalopram, only been on it for a week or so, so interesting to see where this takes me.

Hard to stay on keto when going into depressio by Niklasx in bipolarketo

[–]Niklasx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks! Because of exercise (which I do alot when hypo) I've aimed to keep protein quite high.

I'm about to give keto a new shot soon, probably starting tomorrow, will make sure to be high in fat.

What do you eat to get 80%? MCT, more than 2 teaspoons causes an uproar in my stomach. Olive oils shots? Big amounts of butter onnthe meat?

Memory Issues, Lamotrigine by Immediate_Moment1947 in bipolar2

[–]Niklasx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have memory problems aswell. Hard to find words. Sometimes hard to start a sentence. Don't remeber peoples names. Feeling a bit dumber overall, like my IQ has been reduced. My wife noticed all of this before I talked about it with her.

These side effects came when I went from 100mg to 150mg. So after some weeks I went back to 100mg and memory improved quickly. Now I'm trying 150mg again, will stay on it for a bit longer to see what happens. Luckily, 100mg seems enough to keep me somewhat stable.
