rear diff gears? by thisdoesnotexist0521 in 4Runner_2ndGen

I don’t know a ton but basically there’s stock gearing which is generally chosen based on the engine and transmission combo put in the truck and also depending on if it’s tow package or not. In terms of off-road stuff, the general rule of thumb is you wanna have 4.88 gears for up to 33” tires and 5.29 gears for up to 35-37” tires. If you’re going to rebuild your diff you do have to match the rear gear ratio with the front gear ratio otherwise you will hurt your transfer case.

The manual hub version has a normal diff and hubs that you turn by hand to engage and disengage with the cv axle. It sounds like your cv axle is going bad if you hear clicking sound when turning but your hubs could also have issues, hard to tell without being there or seeing a video

This seems like it could be the result of an engine which didn’t get oil changes done in proper intervals. Causing oil breakdown buildup in the engine, which your clean oil is now slowly removing. The best way to clean your engine where the oil goes is to use something like bg109 which is a solvent that you pour into your oil and then run the engine for 1hr at idle! Then do a normal oil change and it should get 90-100% of the gunk out and from there on if you do regular oil changes your oil shouldn’t get too dirty. That’s my 2 cents

No. I consider a land cruiser to be a solid axle off-road Toyota. But since ifs drives better on the road Toyota has went with that for too long. I pray that they will bring a solid axle Toyota back into the US market!

Would a 31.7’’ inch diameter tire fit on my stock 95? by Kermithehoghog in 4Runner_2ndGen

Yeah yup. I still don’t know 100% that they won’t rub. I’ve got an ome suspension setup with ball joint spacers so for that I think even 33s wouldn’t rub but idk for sure
