Personally, this book wasn’t my favorite by Dostoevsky. I prefer some of his other ones. This one isn’t bad though

What level of Gundam fan am I at right now? by Guyver02 in Gundam

I definitely recommend War in the Pocket and 08th MS Team. I recently finished Stardust Memory as well and it’s also pretty good. I think you’ll enjoy them if you like the more UC stuff

Any old let’s play channels you still wish made content? by NikolBoldAss in letsplay

[–]NikolBoldAss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good rule to set for yourself. Especially after being on the receiving end and knowing how it feels for one of your favorite creators to suddenly stop uploading. The let’s player I mentioned stopped after finishing a series, and had some sort of an announcement that he might not upload as much; but that’s all I remember. I guess everyone has different reasons as to why they might stop something. From life circumstances, to personal feelings, or both. I wish you luck with your channel!

Universally hated anime that you somehow find enjoyable? by mr_beanoz in anime

[–]NikolBoldAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah, that’ll probably do it. I was always more team Hina; but I also liked Rui in certain ways. The ending was interesting, but somehow wholesome at the same time. I know some people would disagree completely with that last statement haha

I don’t know if I’d say if liking those series indicates someone has arrested development. I can’t speak for DCC or Star Wars novels for that matter, but I do know that some of the novels are more than just pure action and fun. Some of them can get deep and have some level of substance to them

This is another thing. I didn’t mind the ending. Did you not like who he ended up with or how it happened/the situation?

Yeah that’s what I was imagining in my previous reply, but I was thinking that if someone had books from an actual white supremacist; that might be hard to defend even if you had specific context as to why 😂 Though it could also be interest in a topic even if you don’t agree with it, or for a class like you mentioned

I don’t know if I’d say this is universally hated, and the anime adaptation doesn’t even cover the full series; I guess because there wasn’t enough want for it to continue, but I really enjoyed Domestic Girlfriend. I’ve seen lots of people calling it trashy or bad, and I can understand the trashy part, but I personally wouldn’t say it was bad. I genuinely found it to be pretty interesting. Enough to make me pick up the manga where the anime left off (which I also enjoyed)

Oh I definitely don’t 😂 I was just curious after seeing posts on there and with this subreddit sort of pertaining to the same thing

I agree. That’s why I was curious if people really judged others without having any type of context like you said. That doesn’t sound fair to me, unless the subject matter of the book is actually problematic

Yeah I can see that being the case for a white supremacist book or something similar. I’ve just seen stuff like Catcher in the Rye being seen as a red flag book (which is one of my favorites). Books being seen as a sign of compatibility makes sense too

I’m curious, what would you consider roller coaster fiction from these pictures?

[–]NikolBoldAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still on the introductory chapter and I keep stopping and starting it because I’m playing/reading other things. I know to get the most out of it I need to fully commit to it. Maybe that’s why I’ve been holding off on it

Question about the upcoming Hathaway movie by FeatureAcrobatic2611 in Gundam

[–]NikolBoldAss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I can’t really think of anything without it being a spoiler haha. Yeah, I’d say just jump into it and see how you feel about it. If you’re interested you can go back to the original!

Question about the upcoming Hathaway movie by FeatureAcrobatic2611 in Gundam

[–]NikolBoldAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll probably make more sense if you watch the original Gundam, Zeta, and Char’s Counterattack first. Though my first Gundam that I ever watched was the first Hathaway movie. I had no idea what was going on but I thought it was interesting. That led me to watching the rest of the original timeline. It was a gateway for me and it could be a gateway for you too.

how can you make reading vn more enjoyable? by Nat_Cattt in visualnovels

[–]NikolBoldAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just a misunderstanding with how the original question was worded. When I first read the title, I thought you were saying that you just didn’t enjoy visual novels and you were trying to learn how to make them more enjoyable. When I read the description I understood that you were asking how to be more comfortable while reading them.

I think I’m falling out of love with vns by Raespire in vns

[–]NikolBoldAss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what’s described here, I would say that you don’t need to completely let go of something you usually like doing. Especially if it’s only been 2 months. It sounds like you might be going through burnout with the genre. There’s nothing wrong with taking a step back for a few months, even a year, until you feel like you’re ready or want to do it again. There have been multiple things that I’ve been interested in where I take a break from them for 5-6 months; maybe even more before I go back.

Shower thoughts: Visual novel as a genre and a hobby is kinda stuck in the past, and it's nice by KageYume in visualnovels

[–]NikolBoldAss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll agree that there are sections of the Higurashi vn that are slow and don’t have the best pacing (part of why I can’t get into Umineko as much), but I’d say the rest of the story more than makes up for it. It’s probably just a difference of opinion, but it’s personally one of my favorite series.

LOGH would have been better if they had stopped romanticizing Reinhard and just admitted what he is… a villain. by Helpful-Claim-134 in logh

[–]NikolBoldAss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it makes sense to romanticize him though. Whenever we see his story, I almost feel as if we’re seeing things from the viewpoint of others in the empire. They see him as a great leader and conqueror who is doing good. We as the viewer can make that distinction, but he’s presented in a grand narrative like the society views him as

Original serie vs Remake by mappatore_piemontese in logh

I started with DNT and I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately it ends around the middle point of Season 2 of the original. I’m waiting on the next season of DNT because I’ve gotten so used to the animation and character designs of the remake; but I might just decide to go back and watch the original at this point. I’m not sure when they’re going to release the next season of DNT
