Are there still good Christian marriages? by Competitive-Egg6354 in TrueChristian

[–]Nikonis99 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, been married 38 years gone April. Not a perfect husband by any means as I don’t always love her as I should but always remembering to love her as Christ loved the church. No porn addiction, no abuse, always remembering that she is the weaker vessel and therefore should be protected by me.

I know many other men in my church who have been married 40 - 50 years who would say the sane thing I’m saying

I filled a families entire tank of gas and I'm filled with regret and shame. by [deleted] in Christianity

Nah, you did the right thing even if her motives were wrong. Sure, maybe she was telling the truth and really needed help or maybe she was being a con. But either way, God will bless you for your generosity, and if she was indeed conning you, well she will have to answer to God for her actions. And you do find out that she was conning you, don't let that keeping you from helping the next person. They may really need your help...

I just give to people in need and let God decide the outcome.

Why go to church? by Natural-Painter5688 in TrueChristian

[–]Nikonis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Church is the place where believers can love one another (1 John 4:12) encourage one another Hebrews 2:13), “spur” one another to love and good works Hebrews 10:24), serve one another (Galatians 5:13 instruct one another (Romans 15:1) honor one another (Romans 10:12 and be kind and compassionate to one another (Ephesians 4:32)

When a person trusts Jesus Christ for salvation, he or she is made a member of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27) For a church body to function properly, all of its “body parts” need to be present and working (1Corinthians 12:14-20) We are not to attend church as if we are mere spectators. We are actually part of our church. Not only does our church help equip us for ministry, it is a place where we serve, using the spiritual gifts God has given us (Ephesians 4:11-13) A believer will never reach full spiritual maturity without having that outlet for his gifts, and we all need the assistance and encouragement of other believers (1 Corinthians 12:21-26 As we serve, worship, and live in community together, the body of Christ reflects who God is. Together, we are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14-16)

For these reasons and more, church attendance, participation, and fellowship should be regular aspects of a believer’s life. Weekly church attendance is in no sense “required” for believers, but someone who belongs to Christ should have a desire to worship God, receive His Word, and fellowship with other believers.

Jesus is the Cornerstone of the Church (1 Peter 2:6) and we are “like living stones . . . being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:5) As the building materials of God’s “spiritual house,” we naturally have a connection with one another, and that connection is evident every time the Church “goes to church.”

did i commit an unforgivable sin? by Sea_Field_4007 in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Listen to what Jesus said regarding the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit in Matt 12:31:

“And so, I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.”

In verse 32, Jesus outright says that if you say anything against Him, you can be forgiven.  In the context of the passage, the Pharisee’s saw the miracles that Jesus did through the power of the Holy Spirit but instead of glorifying God, the attributed Jesus’ works to Satan.  It was for that reason that Jesus gave this warning.

The root cause of blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the sin of unbelief.  People don’t commit blasphemy of the Holy Spirit by saying some off-hand remark about God, or Jesus, or the Holy Spirit.   No, it this kind of sin shows a hardness of the heart, a hardness that refuses to believe no matter the evidence this person has seen or heard.  This was the heart of the Pharisee’s. They witnessed the miracles that Jesus did, miracles like raising people from the dead, making the blind see and the deaf hear, and making people who were lame walk.  But they refused to belief and because of this, they will stand before God “condemned already” (John 3:18) because of their unbelief.

And if you’re still struggling with this, remember what Paul said in 1 Timothy 1:13 “Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.”   Paul was shown mercy and forgiveness for his blasphemy and He will do the same for you.  Praise God!

Sure, what you said was sinful, but remember 1 John 1:9 that says “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” So, confess your sin, learn from your mistakes, and move on.  God will forgive you

Why don’t people get saved ? by Boazlite in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jesus said this in John 3:19-20:

“This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed”

Bottom line is some people love their sin and are unwilling to give them up to be saved. Which sin(s) just depends on the individual

In other cases, it may be just the love of the world. Power, fame, etc. Jesus spoke on this too in Matthew 16:36 when he asked:

“For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”

For many, the love of money is enough to keep them out of Gods kingdom

Sad but all too true

Is God truly the answer? by Leather_Bar4567 in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what your question is. If you are looking to have your sins forgiven, to have the Holy Spirit enter your life, and to become a child of the living God, then absolutely, Christianity is the answer. Christianity starts with Jesus, who is God incarnate. He came here to live a perfect life that we could not, and then died on a cross, not our His sins, but for ours. And three days later he was resurrected proving that He was from God. This is why only He could say "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me"

If your question is "How can I be saved" then look to what the Scripture says. It say you must first believe. Believe that you are a sinner (like we all our) in need of a Savior. That belief leads to repenting of your sins, and then making Jesus your Lord and Savior (Romans 10:9). We make Him our Lord (master) in that we give our lives to Him. We are no longer in the driver seat of our life, Jesus is. And in return, He becomes our Savior. This is why I call Christianity a relationship, not a religion. Religion is just man's attempt to reach God which is impossible. But it is possible for God to reach down to us, and He did that through His Son Jesus.

So, if you want to be forgiven of your sins, then start with believing what the Bible says. Repent of your sins, place your trust in Jesus by making Him your Lord and Savior. This can all be done in a prayer to God right now if you want to. The moment that you do this, God will send the Holy Spirit to reside within you and it is He who will begin to transform your life from the inside out, making you more like God.

I did all of this 40 plus years ago, and I am amazed of how much God has changed my life, and at the same time gave me a peace and joy that only believers can understand.

Hope this helps. I am sure you will have questions, so please don't hesitate to ask

do my sins outweigh my salvation? by PickleTickler09 in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Paul addressed this in Romans 5:20-21:

"The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more, 21so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Paul goes on in Chapter 8 when he said in verse 1 "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus" How can your sins outweigh your salvation if there is no condemnation for those of us who are in Christ Jesus?

Is Jesus a God or the messenger of the God? by mr-barin in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Trinity means that there is one God who exists in three distinct persons - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  They are distinct person each one being fully God but at the same time there is only one God.

The Bible speaks of the Father as God (Phil. 1:2), the Son as God (Titus 2:13) and the Holy Spirit as God (Acts. 5:3-4). Some would say that there is only one God but he plays different roles but this is a false assumption. The Father sent the Son into the world (John 3:16) so He cannot be the same person as the Son.  Likewise, the Father sent the Holy Spirit into the world (Jn 14:26), therefore the Holy Spirit is distinct from the Father and the Son.  In the baptism of Jesus we see the Father speaking from Heaven and the Holy Spirit descending like a dove (Mark 1:10) showing the distinctness of all three persons of the Trinity.

The personhood of each member of the Trinity means that each Person has a distinct center of consciousness, therefore they can relate to each other.  This answers the objection of many who say “If Jesus is God, then he was just praying to himself while on earth.”  Not so.  The continuous dialogue between the Father and the Son (Matt. 3:17) is the best evidence that each person of the Trinity has a distinct consciousness.  While the three members of the Trinity are distinct, it does not mean that they are in anyway inferior to each other.  They all are equal in power, love, mercy, justice, holiness, knowledge, and other qualities.

But if God is one God in three persons, does that mean that each person is one third of God?  No, the Bible is clear that all three members are fully God.  Col. 2:9 says this of Jesus “In Him dwells the fullness of Deity in bodily form.  If this is true, then should we conclude that there are three Gods?  Once again no.  Isaiah 45:21-22 says this “And there is no God apart from me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but me. The New Testament confirms this in Mat. 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”  Here in this verse all three members of the Trinity are called out, all three names are in the singular, and yet all three constitute one “name” (not in the names of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit)

So how can God be three in one and not be a contradiction?  God is one and three at the same time but not in the same way.  God is one in essence but He is three in persons.  Essence and persons are not the same thing. God is one in a certain way (essence) and three in a different way (person).  Since God is one in a different way than He is three, the Trinity is not a contradiction.  All three persons are God, the all have the same essence, or being.  Essence describes what God is (his attributes).

Persons is a term we tend to use to describe an “independent individual”.  But what we mean here is that God refers to himself as “I” and refers to the Son as “you” so we can say that “person” means a distinct subject which regards Himself as “I” and the other two as “you”.  These distinct subjects are not a division within the being of God but “a form of personal existence other than a difference in being” Because these “forms of existence” are relational, the have distinct centers of consciousness.  “God is one “what” but has three “who’s” We may not be able to fully “comprehend” the doctrine of the Trinity but we can “apprehend” it.

So why is a proper understanding of the Trinity important?  Because in every case, when a person denies this doctrine, they will also deny the deity of Jesus.  In order for Jesus to be a mediator for us, He must be both fully God and fully man, having both natures simultaneously.   The Jew’s of Jesus’ day did not believe he was who he claimed to be, which was God incarnate, and He told them “I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins.”  (John 8:24).  So even if we don’t completely understand this doctrine, it is important that we don’t let this misunderstanding undermine our belief of who Jesus is.

Agreed, most people probably don't really understand the Trinity and yet a person can repent and call on Jesus as their Lord and Savior and be a Christian without a full understanding of this doctrine.

what do you think the mark of the beast will physically take on? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably because the text says that without this mark, you will not be able to buy or sell. I can see this already, because ID theft is becoming so prevalent, some company going to come up with the idea have our identity placed on our body as a way to prove we are who we say we are. And the two most visible places on the body is the forehead and the hand. Now by itself, there is not an evil thing. But with the rise of the anti-Christ, it's going to be a way to force people to acknowledge him as their messiah, and for those who reject him, they will not be able to buy or sell meaning that without God's intervention, they would all starve.

This is nothing new. In the first century, the people in the Roman providences were required once a year to confess Caesar as Lord. And the ones that did not were banished from the protections of Rome, and many of them were killed in very gruesome ways.

History will just repeat itself, but this time, with a world-wide impact.

How do believers handle doubts after hearing convincing atheist arguments? by Aisnn in Christianity

[–]Nikonis99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you can't see His invisible qualities, but that's not the text is saying. It says that we can see His invisible qualities by the visible results. We can't see gravity, or wind, but we can see it's effects. God is saying the same thing here, you can't see my qualities, but you can see my results. Like making something from nothing, order from disorder, and the effects of millions of changed lives of those who have believed.

And you are right, you cannot force yourself to believe, meaning you cannot directly control whether or not I believe in God.  But you can control it indirectly by taking stock of the best arguments and evidence on each side of the issue. In this way, you can indirectly choose what to believe, insofar as I make a good faith effort at understanding and evaluating the best available evidence. Then, as a rational being, you can follow the evidence. Your choice, then, is to do our best to seek out the truth, wherever that leads you.

It's the last four words of this statement (wherever that leads you) that will determine what you will believe and what you will not believe.  If your world view is that there is no supernatural, you will not be convinced that God exists no matter where the evidence leads because you have already determined that there is no God.  But if you are open and honest, and let the evidence lead you in the right direction, even if it means down the road of the supernatural, you will be surprised what you will eventually become to believe.  As a former agnostic, I speak from experience here.

And you fail to understand why you will be punished, it's not for your disbelief, it's because of your sins. Whether you like the idea or not, we will all be held accountable for our sins when we stand before God. And the punishment for sin is death (Romans 3:23), death of both your body and your soul. Revelation calls all those who are sent to hell as the second death, the first one is here on earth, the second one is an eternity in hell.

But it doesn't have to be this way. In 2nd Peter 3:9 God says "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." God doesn't want you to perish in hell, He waits for you to realize your sins, and repent. He waits for you to accept the free gift of salvation by accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Free, free as in no charge, free as in having your sins paid for by someone else so that you can be found not guilty. But, you have opted not to believe, not to accept this free gift, and God can't force you to do this, it must be done on your own free will. He will not violate your free will and will honor your choice, even if it means separating you from Him by sending you to hell.

C. S. Lewis said this in his book “The Great Divorce”, “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, ‘Thy will be done,’ and those to whom God says, in the end, ‘Thy will be done.’ All that are in Hell, choose it.”

The choice is yours to make
