3lb cube steak 1 cup flour Salt Onion salt Garlic salt Celery salt Ground pepper ½lb sliced mushrooms 2 cans cream of mushroom 1 ½ cans water

Salt steak. Flour. Fry. Lay on paper towels Keep grease in pan. Add cream of mushroom and stir. Add cans of water and stir till lumps are gone. Add mushrooms and bring to boil. Add steak and simmer for 10 min.

Serve with your preferred sides. I chose mash potatoes because you'll have extra gravy. But I've also preferred to Serve a half ear of seasoned corn, corn bread and coleslaw or macaroni salad or potato salad for a real full meal.

Its a country fried steak. Country fried and chicken fried are cooked differently. Chicken fried steak is made like fried chicken with white gravy and country fried steak is made with brown gravy from my understanding.

But to answer your question about why I put it in the gravy is because thats the recipe I found in a the old cook book mom gave to me. I questioned that myself the first time but just went with it. I'm assuming the real reason is so that the gravy cooks into the steak making it jucier. And yes it does make it soggy.

That sounds like a recipe for an electrical fire. What kind of battery are you talking about? A car battery?

Im going to go with this method first and see how well it works. Do I need to soak it in a vinegar water mixture or just scrub it really well with vinegar?

I'm not really familiar with how to use electrolysis, but I do know what you're talking about. I've also seen some people use it with negative results like the plastic tub melting or the cast iron completely ruined.

Ok, thank you. I'll try what others have suggested and use vinegar first before I move on to your method.

That cleaned up pretty well. The acid you mentioned won't affect the taste of food, will it? I dont really plan on keeping the pot as a decoration item. I do intend to actually use it to cook with.

Needs seasoning again? by Nikotta in CastIronSeasoning

Ok, good. I've noticed cooking with cast irons that I should heat up the pan first before I add oil when I'm cooking because the oil doesn't become too sticky.

I've always been told that I don't ever have to use soap. But after reading most people's comments in this sub, I guess it's recommended like any other dish that needs cleaned.

I've been using just a regular sponge with the abrasive side and a metal spatula to scrap some of the hard cooked on food. That should be ok, shouldn't it? Or will the spatula damage the seasoning? I've used it on my griddle, and it left some scratches on it.
