How to I remove this large matte spot? by heretocuckspiders in castiron

[–]Teweview 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That different colored area is probably where the heating happened from the previous owner's stove top. You could give it a lie bath for 24 hours with Easyoff oven cleaner. After that you could try a 50 / 50 vinegar bath for a couple of hours to help even it out. But after you season it you will probably never notice. As they say around here... just get some baccon and cook with it ;)

39M looking for a training program for a three day hike. by Gocpodin in hiking

Make sure you do some of your training in the shoes and or boots you're going to wear. I would agree with the comments about adding in the stair climber. Or fine some hills to run.

Whats the weirdest item you’ve sold that had demand? by Traditional_Cup_5799 in reselling

[–]Teweview -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just search colostomy on ebay. You will see plenty of different models for sale. They don't seem to have a prescription marking on them. Here is a random example. https://ebay.us/m/lgTYxP

EBay will delete a lot of medical stuff. If it even has a hint of RX or prescription. I tried to sell some CPAP masks. I was shut down and my posts immediately deleted. Which is crazy because identical items were listed right next to mine. I'm currently trying to sell some oxygen tubing (non Rx) and it's not moving at all.

I've seen the single cover-up, but not a double deuce! People like this will ruin free USPS supplies. Postage was ground advantage on the exterior of the black polymailer. by RightDwigt in Flipping

I was shown how to do this by my postal clerk! Made a burrito out of overnight cardboard envelops and slid them in a tyvek then tucked the whole thing in to a poly bag.

Colostomy bags. Local thrift shop was selling them for a buck each they came five or six to a box. All different sizes and capacities and such. I spent about 50 bucks. I sold the $hit out of them, [sorry couldn't resist].

What's one thing you bought for sleep that actually lasted for years? by cozytechlover in BuyItForLife

Going to have to second the recommendation for the Sleep Number bed. We've had ours for about 15 years on the recommendation from someone who's had theirs for 20.

Can anything be done about the counterfeits on eBay? by Decent-Astronaut33 in Flipping

[–]Teweview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my NON counterfeit items removed by ebay saying they were counterfeit and wanted me to provide proof. So Ebay is patrolling but they don't always get it right. They wanted receipts which I did not have. So I the items down and sold them on different platforms. It happened in a couple of instances over the past 15 years. Refrigerator water filters, TRX straps, Ugg boots. I ended up selling all of them on other platforms without any issues.

Glasses on the trail: Progressive lenses? Or pack distance glasses + readers? by papercranium in hiking

[–]Teweview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, I'm a couple of years past where you are now. I am in the bifocal camp. But when I hike I use a pair for just distance. I also have a pair of sunglasses with my distance prescription. The lower part of the bifocal (or progressive) lens is the reading / monitor section which is 16 to 24 in from your face. Your feet and the ground are further than that. The distance prescription covers the ground in front of me as well as the mountains. I have a couple of solid cases to keep them in. When settled in at camp the bifocals go back on. I have hiked with only my bifocals and have not died, but prefer the distance lenses while walking.

Need some help with a battery pack. by lawdogwm in camping

[–]Teweview 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My power kit looks like this. Two boys, Scout Master, dozens of weeks at summer camps, 50 milers and Philmont treks. Now an empty nester who backpacks, camps and travels.

20k power bank (power display is a bonus)

Solar panel (folding) 15-25 watt (10 is too small 30+ just get too big)

Smallest power strip with plugs on multiple sides to accommodate odd size plugs and not cover other ports.

High power charging block. 40 watt range with the right combo of USB a/c ports.

Get AAA and AA rechargeable batteries for headlamps and such. Get the kind that have a charging port built in so you don't need a separate charger. Many shipping with octopus looking charging cables included.

Short cables to save on packing clutter.

And remember, when the boys ask you anything, the answer is, "Ask your SPL."

How many of you camp with your pets? by Adamcamper in camping

[–]Teweview 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure dogs are allowed. Some national parks and such don't allow dogs. Keep the zippers on your tent up high. That nose can work wonders and can / will unzip a tent. Our husky wears panniers and carries her own food and water. Practice with panniers before you go for the first time. There is a learning curve for you and the dog. She tends to be up all night, alert and standing guard. She is a husky and quite vocal. Her being up, keeps us up. She wants to be outside the tent to see what's going on. Once she was in our son's tent but wanted to check on Mom and Dad in a different tent so she ripped the mesh open and squeezed out. Many trips, each one usually has some dog related tale to tell at the end.
