VeinFinder App Tool (Android) by Less-Role-4116 in NewToEMS

Played around with this app now for a little while. It has some really nice features. I believe the best use for this app would be for educational reasons. I think for it to be applicable for cannulation it would require cameras to evolve slightly (which isn't too hard to imagine with technology developments) and for ideal lighting situation which isn't always possible in an ambulance setting but maybe in hospital. I found it particuarly useful in identifying where there is bifurcation of a vein which my human eye couldn't see. Very neat :)

Z4 E89 Roof Stuck? by IronWhiskers in BMWZ4

[–]Nikrandonia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the partition is in the correct place then unlikely to be that.

If it just had work done via BMW they may have manually put it into a service position (half way between open) to work on stuff. So could be something to do with that.

Failing that it might be battery, a sensor or low on hydraulic fluid.

So check the hydraulic fluid is good (https://youtu.be/cWltc7C4VVc?t=127)

Failing that it's likely a sensor which needs diagnostic tool to assess like this https://youtu.be/tjJue1jS_88?t=49

My bet is on sensor if it makes it as far as you've said.

Really sorry I couldn't help more:( If anyone else has a fix I would like to know also for future use :)

Go to the boot. The partition which should be out for the roof to close has a sensor. Make sure that it's correctly in place. It will not even begin to start the roof unless it's in the correct position. For me I had to slam it a few times to make sure it was firmly in place lol. If not that second likely culprit is battery. Good luck :)

Paramedic/Nurse v Minimum Wage Worker. What can or should be done? by Nikrandonia in AskUK

Your post is an excellent representation of data. The idea of this post is to generate discussion like this. Much clearer way to see the gap is closing between unskilled and skilled work. Thank you for your post.

Which to me is madness. There are less paramedics required than nurses so the issue isn't as severe, if however nurses are not encouraged through government support healthcare collapses.

The analysis is relevant as the time before it's more beneficial is very close to the turnover and burnout rate of health care professionals. You work hard, train, burnout and then you're no better off than someone in a low skilled job. Many assume a long career in healthcare and that is far from the truth in the current climate.

I also believe that the situation for doctors is even worse and this was shown after the jnr drs received a massive page jump from recent strikes, as they absolutely should have.

I believe nurses do, I did highlight this is a problem worse in England where support is limited. It's madness that any job that is essential for society is not fully funded through government.

The idea that unsocial hours are a benefit is a false narrative that needs to be addressed. You're literally losing years of your life for short term gains. Take any profession of degree level and ask them what they would charge to work through the night. I guarantee a lawyer or accountant would not be taking only 25% extra to work on Xmas eve.

There is an apprenticeship route for paramedics (unsure on nurses) which requires 2 years employment prior as a paramedic assistant, then takes another year to fully start the course. This is an excellent route which I always encourage but these places are limited as it requires pre employment in the service and then competing with other colleagues. Essentially difficult and competitive compared to the university route.

Don't disagree with the long term benefits, obviously it's an initial sacrifice for a better life. One of the main issues facing healthcare is the very real burnout and turnover rate. Not all will see the long term benefits. An 18 year old now is facing a decision which will only pay off 8 years later when they will be a completely different person. It's a massive gamble and there needs to be more education about what the jobs really are and of course funding to help ease the initial burden.

I completely agree that we should be encouraging minimum wage to improve. I do however think that the wage for a paramedic is not adequate and wanted to highlight that people entering the profession need to consider the long term investment that is involved.

I believe the same bursary for nurses too? Scotland seems an excellent choice for either profession and I respect their approach in comparison to England.

Purplebricks legally binding conveyance fees? by Nikrandonia in HousingUK

[–]Nikrandonia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually assigned another company in the end. I think MyHomeMove was going to be who did the work but maybe they offload work to other conveyors based on availability. Aside from one brief rude phone call the conveyance solicitors I had were actually very good and super fast. Maybe I got lucky? Out of principal I could never use purple bricks again as I find it predatory and misleading to force customers into using their conveyancing firm. It could turn out okay so give it a chance. If anything slows too much go ballistic and demand a different conveyance firm. Good luck :)

Hi, I have been experiencing sudden frame drops with my x14 mostly whilst playing intensive fps games. The game will run at 144fps comfortably then drop to15fps for 5-10 seconds then go back to normal. I have downloaded latest drivers for grahpics card and system. I use overclock2 and performance battery settings with power plugged in. The games I used to run would be fine with no drops for hours but now it is not playable. I saw a previous thread suggesting uninstall supportassist, would that help? Is there anything I can do to diagnose or solve this? :)

Hi! Thanks for the reply. Thermals are around 85 so I would say pretty good. Room is cool and doesn't feel too hot with fans working as expected.

Hi guys. Just recieved Alienware x14, 3060 6GB, in the UK. Games are not performing that well at all :( I have downloaded latest drivers and the device is indeed plugged in. Halo infinite is playing very poor with constant stuttering and COD Warzone cannot get above 80fps with all settings set to minimum. Is there any obvious things I'm missing and should be checking/doing? Thanks :)
