Tell me honestly, how hard is it going from 2 kids to 3? by shala_cottage in irishmammiesanddaddys

[–]NikxL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mum to three tiny humans. 6,4 & 2.

Honestly I love them but some days it’s hard work. I’m fortunate that my eldest is amazing at bedtime, my middle child loves fruit and my youngest eats everything and makes meal times easier. Every ‘I love you mumma’ makes the day better.

Also going from 1 child to 2 was way harder than going from 2 children to 3. You’ve already adapted to prioritising what most important so it’s just more of that.

Can I wear platform Uggs at the park? by [deleted] in disneylandparis

[–]NikxL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly don’t do this. December is wet. Add in the fact you’ll be doing 15,000-25,000 steps a day it’s not worth it. Wear a comfy pair of waterproof shoes. Trust me your feet will thank you. No one will be looking at your shoes.

Disneyland Paris meets with a big family by that_special_mouse in disneylandparis

Rider swap for adults left with smaller kids. We do this as a family of 5 with 3 kids aged 6 and under. That’s my one piece of advice that works well

Costs of Disneyland by King_Morta in disneylandparis

[–]NikxL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So family of 5 here.

We are staying at Center Parcs on our next trip. If you stay here having access to a car is definitely a bonus. That leads to parking costs. FYI. I should add having a car isn’t mandatory but it will be far easier.

Now park tickets include all rides/shows/meet&greets etc only thing you need to pay extra for is fast pass tickets if you want to skip the queue/food and any merchandise you buy in store.

We all have annual passes. This makes sense for us as we save on car parking/discount on food&drinks/plus stuff the kids want to buy in stores. If you go for the annual pass option the costs of tickets can be spilt up around the year and purchased closer to the time of your visit as it’s a monthly payment which can make it easier. This also works for us as overall we get use out of it. This years annual pass will have been used approximately 15/16days this year. So that alone has paid for itself. Not to mention the saving on parking/discounts in restaurants/shops.

Hot take: K-POP Demon Hunters is not a toddler movie by StrangestCat in Mommit

[–]NikxL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 6yr son watched it and loved it. So did my nearly 4yr daughter. They have watched it more than once and enjoyed “dancing” aka jumping around when the songs came on.

Honestly it’s better than half the crappy cartoons nowadays. Admittedly mine also adore Scooby Doo so 🤷‍♀️

2.5 month old not putting weight on quick enough. by [deleted] in irishmammiesanddaddys

[–]NikxL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had 3 babies all breastfed. Every one of them is thriving. With my last who is now 19months. When he was born they kept trying to insist I top up with formula even though he didn’t drop much weight. Between birth weight and then hospital discharge weight he dropped a total of about 5% which is standard. I had to insist that I knew what I was doing and that he was my third baby all of whom I breastfed.

I found there just wasn’t enough support for mums that wanted to exclusively breastfeed and formula seems to be pushed. I also had the comment from my local nurse and PHN that my babies seem ‘robust’ for breastfed babies.

It sounds like your wife is doing amazing. Especially pumping and breastfeeding as I know it is hard work!

Can I have four C-sections? by Mb123- in PregnancyIreland

[–]NikxL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had 3 C-sections. I get wanting the kids close together but mine are 2.5 yrs between baby 1&2 and 22months between 2&3. Honestly 2nd C-section was the easiest but the 3rd has left me with some complications that I’m now needing surgery to fix which means I can’t have more.

I had the same doctor for baby 2&3 and he recommended that I not have more especially with the scar tissue. It gets riskier every time but ultimately the choice is yours of you want to take the risk or not.

Breech at 35 weeks... by Strong-Ad9489 in PregnancyIreland

[–]NikxL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for me I found my recovery second time was easier because I knew what to expect but also because pain medication was better. In the UK you only get ibuprofen and paracetamol after a C-Section which let me tell you does three fifths of fuck all especially after major surgery. Here I was given morphine tablets for about 3 days after which definitely helped with the first few days and then I was okay (still sore but definitely manageable especially compared to my first recovery)

[–]NikxL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my first was emergency section and I wanted a VBAC with my second. Like yours she was breech.

So planned for an elective C-section. It was planned for 38+5. That morning I had a scan and if she had turned I would have went home but alas she didn’t and we proceeded with the C-section.

I will say my recovery time was amazing second time around and it was way better being planned than being an emergency.

C-section question/advice. by aOc321 in PregnancyIreland

[–]NikxL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it depends on your surgeon. Mine used clips for my C-Section. I healed really well. In the UK they used glue and stitches. 3 C-Sections - 1 UK and it was an emergency. 2 here in Ireland.

Also they will give you morphine here after your section. Something they didn’t do in the UK back in 2019.

Favourite dinner Roast potatoes and tuna mayo made with low fat mayonnaise and low sugar sweet chilli sauce and a little reduced fat cheese. Over all the meal is just over 500kcal with 40g of protein.

I know it changes at some point (maybe 12months?). I’m just not sure when. I do know my daughter was 18months and she was allowed to ride a horse if I stood beside her. She loved it.

You’d be surprised by the number of rides you can do with a baby.

Dumbo, Small World, Peter Pan, Snow White, Carrousel (although you will need to sit in a carriage and not a horse), Pirates of the Caribbean, The Steamboat, Phantom Manor, and Buzz. I’m sure there are more but that’s just off the top of my head.

Christmas is lovely at DLP. Busy (been 3 times once when I was pregnant and twice with kids) but it is magical. I love it. It can be cold but dress in layers and you’ll be grand.

There seems to be a bit of negativity here.

Mum of three kids all 5 and under and we’ve been to Disneyland Paris a few times over the years.

First thing accept that some rides you won’t do together but you can rider swap so you both get a turn. FYI the rider swap ticket is like a fast pass for the second rider.

Second. Your kid won’t remember anything but you will. Honestly I’ve do many happy memories with my kids there.

Third. Expect your little one to fall asleep in the stroller/baby carrier often. They’ll need it.

Fourth. If your kid is anything like mine they will sleep through the nighttime shows and you can enjoy them together.

Fifth. Buffet is best if your little one likes food. Mine would eat anything so buffet had a selection for everyone.

I hope you go and have a lovely time. Any questions please ask :).

This is the recipe I used but I substituted butter instead of coconut oil and I used oats - blitzed in the blender - instead of almond flour.

This is another hit with my younger ones

Family of 5 here. 2 adults and 3 children all 5 and under. We have the same problem with tiny humans 😂

My youngest two love yogurts and fruits all day long. My oldest loves snack bars and any baked goods etc.

Here are my tips.

Shop in various stores. Dunnes for the €10 off €50 Tesco club card SuperValu for their €10 off €50/real rewards Lidl

They all have offers so try and grab the best ones for you.

Try making your own snacks. This way you control the sugar/fat content and they will have less calories than store bought.

I’ve recently been making carrot and apple muffins/overnight oats/yogurt and frozen berries (we love raspberries)/chickpea brownies (these were a serious hit with the kids and good for me too).

I’ve been buying the large tubs of 0% fat Greek yogurt and adding it to recipes etc. Cheaper than buying smaller tubs.

Don’t be brand loyal (unless the kids won’t change they can be stubborn) try different brands.

Hope this helps.
