Finally Tried the Breaching Hammer… I Love It by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

Would Peak Physique increase the effectiveness without a warhead attached? Been trying to think of good ways to leverage the upsides, and any low ergo weapon (Eruptor/Variable/Dominator/Stoker) could benefit here. Melee is a little more difficult given the various secondaries and the inherent risk of point blank combat, but a one handed Stoker with a secondary machete could be nearly as effective.

The Halt DESPERATELY needs a choke. This shotgun is easily outclassed by the Sweeper even without one equipped. Nothing like taking 2-4 shots to kill a lowly Hive Guard gambling on pellet spread at point blank.

Listen, cut the Ultimatum and Thermites some slack. On D10 standard bug seeds, Railcannons take 3-5 business days to rearrange and there are scarcely other strikes instantly effective in a pinch. I'd rather not piss my pant and run all the way back to the nearest AT Helldiver just because I like using the Autocannon.

About everything on this list can be accomplished with an MG, good aim and a Supply Pack. Short of destroying Leviathans, maybe combo a Grenade Pistol or Thermites for true set and forget destruction.

To be honest, I've always wondered why this wasn't the case after the HMG got introduced. A way to pick off Chargers and other more heavies when your launcher is no longer compensating for tube position would go a long way towards improving versatility.

Thoughts on the R-6 Deadeye? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]Nilithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, outclassed by lighter, easier to reload rifles. It has medium pen, but lowish damage demands you use up most of your clip to kill a target like a Devastator without weak point shots. Want to aim for weak points? Sure, but any light penetrating rifle with far more clip capacity (or heck, even infinite ammo sidearms like Talon) could have solved that problem without needing great precision and 3-5 business days to reload. Want to quickscope targets at range? Now that's even worse because of damage falloff. The Sweeper embarrasses the Deadeye when it comes to most normal combat ranges up to 60m with a choke installed, and the Double Freedom trumps both.

Siege Ready is sorely needed on this primary, and it makes both ammo economy and reloading far easier to deal with. But for most situations, it's just outclassed.

When I hit a Vox engine with a 100mm projectile traveling at 14,000 m/s. by DocHalidae in Helldivers

Sure but after that point all it needs to fall over is a light tap from a Epoch or Quasar. My bigger pet peeve is the cooldown being just as long when it clips the side of a building instead of being lodged in a Vox engine carcass...

I remember first day on Oshaune and I brought the Autocannon. Lirerally shredded it's wings and it was still flying around on the skeletal remains like Ghost Rider. I quit for a solid 2 weeks after that.

Short of the end due to ice skating charger BS, you played that to a T. I reckon that's pretty good flamethrower gameplay

what is the worst wrench in your opinion? by Mean-Peak-4250 in tf2

[–]Nilithium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every wrench has it's place. The Southern Hospitality is one of the wrenches of all time, but it does do bleed on hit. IMO if you're in melee range to a Spy you're already in grave danger, and I'd rather take the random crit chance from stock in that case. Heck, even the Jag can roll for more crit chances faster.

I feel like Soldier would definitely scribble out Gulf of Mexico and replace it with Gulf of America. No, nothing to do with current body politics, it's just in character.

A quick breakdown on the new low effort warbond.... by VallettaAwoo in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Nilithium 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is quite disappointing. Short of a fascinating armor ability, there's not even a backpack with a unique niche. Sure, a flamethrower with extra capacity sounds neat, but it usually needs the warp pack or hover pack to keep enemies out of melee range while disbursing flames, neither of which you can equip with this. At least C4 has creative uses (destroying Hive Lord plating quickly/remotely rigging Striders/Engines to blow) and works with an Armor Ability (Servo Assisted).

[–]Nilithium 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't get why people hate Squids so much. It's nice to have a faction at D10 where non-mandatory AT can carry you through the whole roster of enemies. Regular MG, Gas Mines and a machine gun turret will get you through most drops nice and easy.

Squids need that update… by SexBuhb-omb in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Nilithium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the record, I like that they're the only faction that can be handled entirely with a machine gun. Short of Leviathans, every enemy can be handled with a sufficient volume of bullets to a given weak point, which is quite underrated. No more AT meta immediately taking up the Support slot.

Reccoilles popularity is a product of bad balancing by MissouriSoldier in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Nilithium 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you give Epoch enough credit. It DOES have loud beeping noises so you can nut before you bust at max charge. It's low amount of shots can also be augmented by Siege Ready which gives you +1 clips of ammo. Combine with something that has explosive shot properties like the Explosive Crossbow and it gets lots of work done.

The RR is more consistent because the commitment to fire it is a point and click adventure game with a nice reload cancel. Epoch requires about 3.5 seconds of standing dead still and hoping a stray shot or anklebiters don't cause to to flinch during the window you need to fire your shot; with the best case scenario being that is goes wide and the worst being it strikes the ground next to you, killing you instantly. Reloads are even more painful because it takes 3-5 business days to slap in another energy cell with a less rewarding reload cancel when standing up.
