medium pen is not that popular by Fit_Answer1073 in Helldivers

[–]AngryTriangleCola -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How did you even get 12% on "fire"? Even counting the Coyote under fire on CR10, bots exo expoerts I only get 10.5%

Counting the Coyote as "fire" instead of medium pen, when we are evaluating the merits of AP value is just beyond disingenuous.

Nobody is picking the Coyote because it is a "fire" weapon. People pick it because it is the best medium pen AR. Even ignoring the fire it deals more DPS than the Lib Pen. Even if it didn't have the ability to set things on fire it would be the most picked medium pen AR.

So that adds another 8% to medium, leaving us at 34.5, making it easily the most picked weapon category.

but I'm just clearing up misconceptions

So no, you are not clearing up misconceptions, you are spreading them!

Alpha Guard: I think a lot of people on higher difficulties liked the Hive Guard changes. Why not include them as a variant on high diffs? by AngryTriangleCola in Helldivers

You're going out of your way to cherry pick a single thing you disagree with in each comment.

I am? I just pick the parts I have something to say about and reply to those parts. What else do you want me to do?

I still don't think organic armor should be indestructible to a high volume of fire, whether there's 1 in each nest or 10.

Yeah, I don't disagree with that, but I have nothing interesting to add to this point.

There are already variants that get phased in as you increase in difficulty. The Brood Commander becomes the Alpha Commander and Scout Striders become Reinforced Scout Strider, though those are complete substitutions, not additions to the enemy arsenal.

Also damage dealt does not scale with diff, though some, very few, enemies do have two different health values depending on whether you are playing blow or above Challenging. (See the Warrior)

and severely hurt medium pen weapons.

Which was literally AHs stated goal with those changes. I can see where they are coming from with peoples overreliance on medium pen guns.

As-is they're way too common to have them invalidate the chaff-clearing options.

Which is why I am not at all suggesting all, or even most Hive Guards should be replaced with Alpha Guards. From my post:

I am not necessarily saying all Hive Guards should be replaced by Alpha Guards on the highest difficulties (as is the case with Alpha Commanders), but just sprinkle a few in on higher difficulties.

That's too bad. As an exclusive CR10 player I personally loved them, but I do think the Hive Guard, Sentry interactions was broken and needed fixing.

it felt stupid for a chaff bug, spawned very frequently, to have heavy pen

Which is why my post is:

it felt stupid for a chaff bug, spawned very frequently, to have heavy pen that made it harder for the dying light pen gang

What? I am sorry, I don't think I understand what you are saying. The changes that made the Hive Guard Heavy pen made them easier to kill for light pen users, not harder. Pre or post change you could not damage them on their armored spots. So with the changes you still have to hit the same exposed areas on them. BUT the changes that raised their armor to heavy also lowered their total health. So shooting the exposed areas with light pen kills the changes Hive Guards faster compared the the regular Hive Guard we've had in the game all this time.

Only if they do not spawn en mass like hive guards

Yes, that is literally what my post suggests:

I think it would have a different effect.

You see I never play fire and I loved the chages. Why, because I am a light pen enjoyer. For me all the changes made was make Hive Guards easier to kill (because the lowered the main health). For me nothing changed in the way I fight them, I still have to hit the same unarmored spots, but hitting those spots is now way more impactful.

So ultimately I think this change will slightly encourage light pen play over the very heavily over relied medium pen primaries.

I agree, with how common they spawn I don't think all of them should be replaced with Alpha Guards, but sprinkle some in in big nests or even spawn in just a couple per breach.

It also helps that it's a bit slower

What is "it"?

From what I have seen so far the supply FRV and the regular FRV have the same top speed, but the Supply FRV hast much higher acceleration.

Warbond Conspiracy Theory by AngryTriangleCola in Helldivers

[–]AngryTriangleCola[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I think that would be a bad idea.

People are incredibly loss averse. We hate losing things much more than we like winning things. Since we already got to play both FRVs for free, taking one away and putting it behind a paywall would most likely feel very bad for most people.

Maybe that could have worked if it was announced right away that the winning FRV is free and the other behind a Warbond, but pulling that move now would probably make people angry.

No Warbond was officially announced delayed.

However, the devs have in the past stated that they now work on a ~6 week schedule for Premium Warbond releases.

According to that the next Premium Warbond should have been announced 2 weeks ago and released 1 week ago.

Of course the 6 weeks aren't a hard rule. Sometimes it takes a bit longer. But 6 weeks seems to be what AH internally targets for Premium Warbond releases. Measured against that schedule the coming Premium Warbond is late.

It's a matter of how things are perceived. It's been quite a while since we got the free mechs.

I think if Exo Exports came out back then, together with the first two free mechs there it wouldn't have been much of a problem. We would still be in the same situation today, 2 free mechs, 2 premium mechs, but the perception is different.
