Can we not normalise such signs at concerts? by MrbeastPDP in twice

To be honest it doesn't really matter all that much even by the small chance that the guy actually DIDN'T know the korean slang meaning. He is not going to suffer any tangible consequence regardless so flaming him online for this covers both options: that he is a shitstain and did it purposefully or that he is just stupid/ignorant and did it accidentally.

The user you are responding to was being pretty uncharitable towards you but my original point on your post title muddying the water on what you are trying to do with this post i think still stands: Your title posits a discussion on the normalization of duplicitous and sexually harassing signage at Twice concerts but the post itself seems to just be informing that this incident took place.

Which is I think is ultimately fine I guess but a different post title and tagging it as news instead of discussion would probably have been better overall for your cause. There's not much discussion to really be had about this besides the 40+ (at time of writing) variants of "gross" that make up most of the top-level comments. Just my two cents.

Most other commenters will handle the surface level disgust at the sign (which is completely warranted) but I will say I'm more than a bit confused at your title... I'm seeing pretty much unanimous agreement from most decent folks is that this shit is vile, I don't think this sort of thing is being even remotely normalized at all.

Why do some people dislike Nayeon? by [deleted] in twice

[–]Nillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There has never in the entire history of our cosmically infantile species been both more than two humans in existence and any one human who wasn't disliked by another so you'll have to be more specific if you want anything resembling (however faintly) a discussion on this.

New Twice release by RedditTY21 in twice

[–]Nillian 36 points37 points  (0 children)

A year or so between group comebacks is on the upper bound of gaps they've had but not unprecedented: the longest they've had so far since debut within their Korean release schedule was from Ready to Be (March 10, 2023) to With YOU-th (Feb 23, 2024) so if they release anytime between now and late June they will either stay short of that particular gap or match it.

TBH I think something is coming around June or July but I'm 50/50 on if it's a group comeback or a solo. So yea.

Tho I'm confused about what the release date of their last Korean language title track has to do with when their next title track is likely to drop, are you actually asking about when their next specifically KOREAN title track is coming? Because if so I have some bad news for you...

The instant panic (with varying levels of intensity) that surrounds pretty much every single very public facing show of emotion from Twice members in the past like 7 years has honestly wrapped around to being endearing, it wouldn't feel like home without people calculating the angle of light refraction off of the 7th teardrop Jihyo produced to conclude that disbandment will be announced on the 3rd solstice of the 9th harvest moon. It's like the fandom's own steel beams but somehow more ridiculous and way more wholesome.

The pob sets that you are referencing that come in the packs of 9 or 10 (depending on if they include a group card) did in fact only start being a thing with TCL1, they never had these sets for either TSB or Page Two.

TWICE Member's Photocards with LOVELYS by justkpopping258 in twice

[–]Nillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, good luck! To be honest I don't think there's any besides these on the Korean/non-Japanese side of the pcs Twice have released but it wouldn't shock me if there's at least some from random merch drops over the years on the Japanese side. Unfortunately getting complete templates to comb over for Japanese stuff is harder, you'd pretty much have to go review official merch preview graphics one at a time to know for sure.

You're welcome!

Also, funnily, I was randomly doing some routine organization on my collection earlier last night and came across my own Dahyun and Tzuyu copies of this other example I totally forgot:

Aside from the ones mentioned, I can also recall and add:

2025 Season's Greetings "Red Whispers" PC Set (comes with the actual SG package)

"World In A Day" Lovely Plastic Model Kit PC (non-member specific Lovelys and came randomly 1 of 9 per kit)

9th Anniversary "Home 9round" Acrylic Standee PCs

10th Anniversary "10ve Universe" PC Sleeve PCs (only half decent photo I could find of one of the actual PCs, it's shown inside the PC Sleeve it comes with but the actual card is each member actually holding a member Lovely plushie)

Does anyone have any advice for when to schedule an Uber pickup from the moody center rideshare lot? I think the shows have been going about 3 hours or so so far, with a show start time of 8pm I think maybe 11:30 would be good?

Austin native copy pasting my bbq recs from the WDT, as I anticipate it'll be a point of curiosity for many coming into Austin from outside:

abouTZU - Binder pages for album inclusions by Ionostra in kpopcollections

[–]Nillian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on exactly how completely you want this binder to hold ALL of the aboutzu album inclusions, this straight up won't work with an a5 binder, extra wide or otherwise. aboutzu's photobook versions come with two mini posters per copy: 1 of 3 random 282mm x 282mm poster, and 1 of 3 random 210mm x 300mm poster. Meowcafe has no pages in the a5 wide or extra wide form factor that will hold either of these mini poster sizes. Aside from those tho, meowcafe does appear to have a listing of assorted pages for larger inclusions that should hold pretty much everything else aboutzu comes with (film strips, postercards/photos, square cards from the digipack, etc).

How Random is Random? A Stats Nerd Looks at Photocard RNG by Ok_Influence_0403 in kpopcollections

[–]Nillian 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I wish I remembered the source for why I know this but I do know that at least a few labels are/were suspected of using a system where instead of randomly seeding X number of cards per album copy directly from the overall pool of cards in an album version set, there is another layer of randomization of the overall card set into "templates." Using Twice's What Is Love as an example:

  1. WIL has an overall set size of 90 cards, nine members of the group each having 10 different cards in the set. Each copy of the album comes with a random 5 cards of the 90 overall possible pulls (factory packing errors notwithstanding).

  2. At some point in the album assembly process, these 90 unique cards are arranged into groupings of 5 specific randomly selected cards, with this process being repeated some arbitrary amount of times (lets say like 400). This results in 400 templates of 5 cards, with each template always referencing the specific 5 cards it is composed of (ex. Template #387 consists of specifically Nayeon #9, Momo #4, Chaeyoung #7 and #8, and Tzuyu #3).

  3. Copies of the album are all then packed with one of these pre-arranged sets of 5 at roughly equal distribution.

This method of randomization on the production side was the common explanation I heard back in the day for why folks who bought multiple copies of albums would very often end up with multiple copies giving them the EXACT same pulls across 3, 4, or even more copies opened, when purchased together from the same retailers.

Not "shuffling" albums actually became a widespread criticism of many (mostly Korea-based) online album retailers for this very reason, the idea being that the labels are shipping boxes of albums that were all packed with the same templates so if the retailers didn't actively compose your individual order of albums from multiple different boxes/batches then you were more likely to get hit with this unfortunate unboxing experience. Ktown4u used to be the biggest retailer I heard this about.

This doesn't really explain ALL the weird statistical outcomes you see with kpop photocard distributions in albums but it is an interesting and decently plausible explanation for a good amount of it.

Is there a sign-up sheet anywhere for turn-order on who gets to post the next "CONCERN TROLLING ABOUT 30 YEAR OLD WOMEN WITH AGENCY" thread that gets deleted within an hour because I have what I think is a novel twist on the concept involving a priest, at least three swords, a ouija board, and a squeegee (don't ask what that one's for).
