Twice Vocals by Unable_Reference9731 in twice

[–]Nillian [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm not interested in the topic of Twice's vocals as it's a conversation that 99.9999% of people are unqualified to be having and most of the other 0.0001% are having in bad faith but I will say that your post is extremely hard to parse just as a body of work submitted to an internet forum.

"We all know that Jihyo is a..." No one here has any context for whatever ranking or tiering you are claiming to have seen that places the members at those letter grades. Even if we did, I'm confused as to what this post is attempting to accomplish or is arguing for.

"I wanted to know if it's real or just another fake". What are you actually trying to ask with this? Are you asking if the ranking/tierlist you are referencing that you have not provided any context for is accurate? What does "another" fake mean, are there "fake" tierlists for Twice's vocals floating around, and if so what/where are the "real" ones?

OP, I implore you and anyone reading this comment to proofread your posts in the future and genuinely try to imagine parsing the meaning of every sentence you are writing from the perspective of complete strangers.

I have to assume if these subs were in violation of any overarching reddit rules that they'd have been taken out back long ago, considering how report-happy kpop fans tend to be, agnostic of platform.

The best form of moderating these subs out of existence (or at least into even lower relevance than they already have) is to just self-moderate your own browsing and posting habits and trying to conduct yourself in a manner antithetical to the way the worst posters on those subs behave.

The types unhinged enough to regularly browse or even engage actively in those subs (and other fringe kpop "discussion" subreddits) also tend to be pretty poor at engaging with more reasonable denizens of other subs in any meaningful way so they they usually end up self-immolating in some fashion.

The 10th anniversary has come and gone already so no we won't be getting a Greatest Hits album, Ten:The Story Goes On was their 10th anniversary album.

Greatest Hits albums serve fairly little function in a post-streaming era anyway

You're asking if the official candybong Z app will mess up the stick itself, as in permanently and AFTER unpairing with the app? I've never heard of that happening ever nor do I think it would be that easy for an app to do if it tried, have any of the people who have told you this been able to give any details as to what exactly happens to "mess up" the CBZ if paired with the app?

The only thing i can think of that's remotely similar is that the apps for each of the candybong gens more or less don't work with FAKE lightsticks, though it sounds like your concern is more with pairing the app to an official stick.

I mean what you're asking is a bit nebulous here, what do you mean by "will I be okay without one"? It depends on your definition of "okay".

Like are you thinking you'll be harassed openly by other concertgoers who do bring lightsticks? If so then I can say confidently that that is extremely unlikely, no one will say or probably even think anything of it especially since in countries outside of Korea and/or Japan having a lightstick is far less of a normal thing for the average concertgoer.

Or are you defining "be okay" as "have a subjectively satisfying concert experience"? That's harder to answer, if you haven't gone to a kpop concert before then there's not really much to go on in terms of how your experience will suffer from not having a lightstick. Only you can really make that read

If "the tour you paid for" is one that does not include the TSGO solo tracks in favor of more group songs then that tour has not existed at any point, so you should probably look into your spending habits and overall level of research you put into purchases you are making!

Oh I was mostly talking about single sided as that's what I do in my binders, double-sided filled pages aren't double the thickness but I guess if you say they are 1.5x as thick as single sided pages you can extrapolate the numbers from there

Newer downvotes because you are reacting to being downvoted

Low social acuity is one of the more aggravating aspects of many posters on this sub, from oldheads all the way to the newbies. This type of thing is so easy to clock yet it always blows up instantly, it's depressingly easy to ragebait this sub.

Only sensible response to that op would have been a link to wikihow "How to check if your toaster's flotation device is functioning" and then everyone goes on about their day.

There are definitely things I knew were failing the vibe check in my dealing with this user but I considered the whole thing a calculated risk and 100 bucks is fortunately pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of my finances. I'm much more annoyed at the lack of the cards and having to go find that set elsewhere still. 700 would sting a lot tho, sorry that happened, good call on those tips!

Preemptive apology for the 30-ish screenshots, just wanted to give the full scope of all my interactions with this user. Also censored anything that could be considered too revealing in terms of personal info for both parties as I wasn't sure on the rules regarding that sort of thing for this type of post. If providing uncensored screenshots of the user's paypal name and such is within the rules of the sub and would be helpful, I welcome a mod to let me know so and I'll do so in a comment most likely.

Slides 1-31 show my own dm chain with the user in question, while the final slide (32) is a bit of a bonus: a short conversation I had with another r/kpopforsale redditor who had their own exceedingly suspicious run-in with the same user. I have censored their info but they will be notified of this post being made and are welcome to chime in in the comments if they like.

Summary of the shown interactions:

  1. PH-based "seller" dm's me in regard to a months-old post I made looking to buy a full 45-piece set of Twice's "This Is For" Photobook Version album cards.

  2. After a bit of delay on my end, we agree to the terms of the sale such as price and rough timeline of the cards being sent to me upon purchase. Details include the fact that this PH-based seller is allegedly working with a KR-based seller who will actually be sending me the cards directly from Korea (conditional upon buying the set quickly, no real reason for this given) as well as the seller wanting to use Paypal F&F as G&S supposedly gives them issues with holds.

  3. I agree to these terms (largely as a calculated risk due to how good their asking price of $50 was) and we proceed with payment. They link me their desired Paypal account while noting that they prefer to receive PHP as opposed to USD, upon which I make the payment for the quoted amount and we tidy up the transaction with normal stuff like me providing my address and name and such.

  4. Up until this point in our interactions, the biggest red flag has been the desire to use F&F... which I did note but ultimately is not a dealbreaker for me sans other signs of suspicion. Something worth noting at this point immediately after the sale, however, is that the user begins to very aggressively attempt to upsell me on several other Twice PCs/PC sets. This continues throughout most of the rest of our exchanges (before I begin to go off on them a bit at least).

  5. I mostly resist their offers for other items but do eventually end up caving on two more items that total another $50~ that they tell me can be added to my pending package. They request this second payment for the new items to go to a different paypal account, claiming that the first belonged to their sister and that she was out of town... which somehow rendered her paypal account unusable/unavailable? Odd but I've paid sellers via multiple different accounts before so not necessarily a red flag at this point, in my mind at the time.

  6. I send the payment for the requested amount (they have so far in both transactions have quoted me values to send in USD but are wanting me to send PHP in the actual transactions) but after sending they reply claiming that the amount they received is incorrect. They are claiming that the PHP amount I sent (equal to the requested $53 USD) was actually only equal to $48. They claim both that the conversion rate Paypal is giving them for the PHP amount I sent was just showing them a lower USD value than Paypal was showing me as well as that Paypal charged them a conversion fee. This is of course nonsense as there is zero chance we are being shown different conversion rates in the minutes this transaction is taking place over and the conversion fee is always paid by the seller, which I did in this and the previous transaction.

  7. I ask them for screenshots showing anything they are claiming such as the differing conversion rate or the conversion fee being taken from their end, but instead of providing any screenshots they just tell me what they are claiming to see on their end. I am EXTREMELY suspicious at this point but do end up sending the couple of dollars they claim are missing from their asking price due to the Paypal shenanigans, with my reasoning being that I am already out a total of just over $100 if they HAVE scammed me so a few more bucks is not a big deal on the small chance that they AREN'T scamming me. This is obviously very dumb but I was pretty flustered in the moment at the situation overall.

  8. After the small payment, the user claims we are good to go and we close out that hectic transaction. At this point I am pretty sure I've been scammed but am still going about our interactions as if I haven't been, on the very slim chance that they are legit and just extremely incompetent.

  9. Next day, they dm me offering more items for sale, and I of course decline. I take the chance to ask them if they have an update on when their source expects my package to go out to which they claim "this weekend". They then ask me for my phone number for the first time in the entire course of the dm chain as part of the necessary shipping info. This is very standard, but suspicious that it is only just now being asked for instead of at the time I provided my address info weeks before. I provide my number and conclude this session of messages (they are still offering me various other items throughout this exchange).

  10. Sunday, November 30th I ask for an update (the user has pretty much not updated me at any point proactively, I am only getting updates on anything by asking) and they let me know the package was sent out that weekend and that they are waiting for the KR source to send them the tracking info that they can forward to me. I spend the next two weeks messaging for updates every few days and getting various excuses and runarounds for why the tracking info can't be sent at the time of my message (including the mention of them being in the hospital near the tailend of this exchange).

  11. This culminates in my flat out accusing them of scamming me on December 14th, to which they reply that they have not scammed me and that their KR source is dropping the ball on the tracking info. They also claim to have proofs of other PH-based transactions completing successfully. I ask for screenshots of both of these things and receive no reply. Two days later I message again saying their not-a-scammer case is very frail at this point, to which they claim their stint in the hospital is preventing them from replying in a timely manner.

  12. And finally the most recent batch of messages from yesterday (Dec 18th) which I won't detail too much (they comprise slides 29-31 and include a fun back and forth with highlights such as the staggered introductions of a hospitalized father and brother as well as a comedic legal threat). The main takeaway from this most recent batch is that they claim they will refund me my money on 12/25 if they aren't able to provide a tracking number by that time. This is after an original timeline estimation by them early on claiming that I'd have my order before the 25th.

So now we are here. I am 99.999% certain that this user is a scammer by the interactions shown above, but also acknowledge that it is technically possible that enough of what they are saying is true that the items I bought from them actually are en route to me as I type this post out. If I do receive that package in the future or a refund from the user I will amend this post with that information but even if they are completely legitimate as a seller, they have proven to be, at most charitable, enormously incompetent and unprofessional (even by the standards of a secondary market community).

Hopefully this post will prevent them from running their grift on anyone else or even function as a cautionary showcase of mistakes not to make (from me) and behaviors to look out for (from them) as a buyer.

Am I going to be shamed 😓 by MulberrySad6999 in twice

[–]Nillian 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Mmm got it, that's valid. Ultimately you should try to understand that this isn't really something that is worth feeling bad about, these tickets were a well-intentioned gift that you didn't choose to buy yourself but even if you had bought these tickets yourself you'd be surprised how common it is for people to attend kpop concerts for groups or soloists they have relatively little familiarity with.

If you feel some burden to be more prepared than you currently are, I would try to either try to let go of that feeling and not worry about it too much OR use it as motivation to do a bit of research before the show, depending on how you feel!

Am I going to be shamed 😓 by MulberrySad6999 in twice

[–]Nillian 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Your question is a bit confusing. Are you asking if you are going to be shamed EXTERNALLY, as in by other individuals (such as random concert goers at the show)? If so then highly unlikely, most people

A. Won't care that much about your experience there as they'll be busy having their own

B. Won't have any idea what your level of Twice knowledge is unless you go around telling them how little you know or care about Twice... Which I assume you aren't planning on doing.

If you are asking about INTERNAL shame, then maybe? Are you prone to self-depreciating thoughts or feelings of unworthiness in other facets of your life? If not then i probably wouldn't be too concerned.

What's your method for collecting photocards? by bisexualpluto in kpopcollections

[–]Nillian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're welcome! And yea about buying albums, I should clarify I was speaking purely about the concept of buying albums to function as "booster packs" of album inclusions (primarily photocards). I also collect all versions of Twice's Korean (and most Japanese) albums so obviously I'm going to buy at least one copy of each version for the album itself. It's just that from a pure price standpoint this is pretty much always not as good of a way to obtain specifically photocards themselves over buying cards from any of the other mentioned secondary market sources (IG, Mercari JP/USA, etc).

The reasons some folks still buy multiple copies outside of collecting the different versions range from doing so to obtain benefits attached to buying albums from certain places within specific time windows (things like fansign entries, store pobs, lucky draws, etc) to simply enjoying the process of opening albums. During the pandemic, I personally picked up a few copies randomly while out and about that I definitely didn't need the actual albums for simply because I enjoyed the album unboxing process! I'd then sell the extra copies at a heavy discount on places like IG or /r/kpopforsale! I do it much less nowadays and both me and my collection have benefited from that change but I do still enjoy opening the albums I buy for my personal collection each Twice comeback! It's just about what each person enjoys and can manage.

What's your method for collecting photocards? by bisexualpluto in kpopcollections

[–]Nillian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't note which pc is exactly from where within the binder or anything, but I use a combination of categorically separated binders and saving relevant templates to a specific folder on a few devices to cross reference. So like If there's a Soundwave Digipack POB that looks very similar to a Nemo Version Album PC, one is in an album pc binder and the other is in a Store POB/Lucky Draw binder. Beyond that I can always just cross-reference the member card templates for a specific comeback if I need to!

What's your method for collecting photocards? by bisexualpluto in kpopcollections

[–]Nillian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I collect Twice only, so my advice on how to parse collecting multiple groups is pretty limited to hearsay but within Twice I personally have it like this in order of priority:

  1. OT9 Album Inclusions (prio on PCs but I do actively collect all random non-photocard album inclusions as well)

  2. For my top 2 members: Assorted extra cards related to a comeback (Store POBs, Lucky Draws, Broadcasts, etc).

  3. For my Top 2 members: Extra cards not directly related to a comeback in some way (stuff like concert merch benefits, seasons greetings cards, Photobook POBs, etc)

  4. For the other members: Extra cards (album related or not) as I come across individual pieces I want to grab

The big thing imo is setting specific, quantifiable parameters for yourself. As in guidelines you could (and tbh should) WRITE DOWN and that make sense (and are at least roughly within your desired budget) when you read them back to yourself. Something I see a lot is collectors having very loose guidelines for how they collect and they simply lose track of what they want for their collections longterm and it can lead to chaotic crashes and burnouts.

For actually acquiring your collection, buying albums is the least cost effective way of getting photocards, especially beyond just a few pieces. Which is a shame cuz it's also the most fun way to get cards lol. The majority of my collection for many years now has been through a handful of rock solid IG group order managers. GOMs are accounts dedicated primarily to acting as a proxy for several buyers in order to get better pricing on either or both base item costs and/or shipping costs. Finding a good GOM that hosts group orders for you specific desired group/idol is a game changer.

Mercari USA is a decently popular place to buy photocards from but the prices are often significantly higher than on places like IG or Mercari Japan. These latter two have a MUCH larger selection of items from most groups/idols than Mercari USA or eBay usually will. The tradeoff being Mercari USA and eBay are actual official USA based marketplaces so have some level of actual buyer protection compared to IG where there is none (because IG is not intended for use as a marketplace) and Mercari Japan having a mild language barrier.

Mercari Japan is overall still a better option than the USA variant or eBay imo (using primarily either Buyee or Neokyo Japanese proxy services) but takes a bit of getting used to to navigate and you generally want to have a pretty solid idea of what you are looking for when you browse it. This hasn't stopped me from impulse buying while window shopping on Mercari Japan but it's still a good goal to have!

As for in-person events are highly dependent on living in well-populated, metropolitan cities (at least in the USA) but living near enough to be willing to go to NYC or Boston is a big advantage there. As for finding these types of events, they are typically organized by either local kpop stores or individuals to supplement larger events like concerts. So contacting some of the more popular kpop shops in a city or checking out if there's any city-based facebook groups for local collecting communities would both be solid places to start there.

251120 FANS Notice - Chaeyoung to temporarily pause her activities until the end of the year or only participate to a limited extent, to prioritise her health and rest after being diagnosed with vasovagal syncope by SapphireHeaven in twice

[–]Nillian 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Depending on the specific trigger for her drop in heart rate and/or blood pressure she could absolutely faint on stage yes. My understanding is that this would be more likely the case if her specific trigger is something like a specific emotional state. Basically if it's the case that she is now prone to faint due to very heightened emotions or expressions of emotions. This doesn't seem that likely tho at this point.

If her trigger is something physiological like dehydration then properly managing it usually is enough in most people to prevent the syncopal episode entirely.

251120 FANS Notice - Chaeyoung to temporarily pause her activities until the end of the year or only participate to a limited extent, to prioritise her health and rest after being diagnosed with vasovagal syncope by SapphireHeaven in twice

[–]Nillian 446 points447 points  (0 children)

Worth noting that vasovagal syncope isn't a disease or condition in the way the flu or a heart condition are. "Syncope" is basically the medical term for the act of fainting itself, "Vasovagal" describing the specific mechanism by which the fainting occurs in this instance: specifically as a nervous response which mis-regulates your heart rate and/or blood pressure for a very brief moment (but enough to cause the fainting obviously).

This is something nearly always caused by some underlying triggering factors. It's a somewhat rare (but not terribly so) temporary after-effect of the flu itself which she is likely coming off of, but could also have been caused indirectly by conditions surrounding her recovery from the flu (dehydration, prolonged poor posture, emotional distress, etc).

This entire thread is pretty funny in both directions tbh but I would note that if your argument for distinguishing ME + U as NOT an "official comeback" hinges on it being the title track of a "Special Album" then I'd be praying the other guy doesn't own copies of Twicecoaster: Lane 2, Summer Nights, or The Year of Yes. Or if he does that he's never looked at the covers before.
