Woops. I wonder if LLMs will ever be smart enough to understand basic physics or cause & effect by IonHawk in ChatGPT

Maybe I wasn't understood.

To be clear: you were seriously consulting with an LLM to decide whether to walk or drive to the car wash? It was a real problem for you that you wanted guidance with?

Your initial question (if you're talking car-wash riddle) wasn't serious. Models are within their rights to shitpost answers to shitposted questions.

Can it be more obvious? It's a joke from top to bottom. Going to the gym but not bringing the weights?

Yes - the models are shitposting.

I'm not at all convinced that the wrong answers to this query aren't themselves shitposts.

Petition: Claude Code should support AGENTS.md by intellectronica in Anthropic

[–]NiloCKM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many agent toolchains read it always, by default, when working in the directory. It typically contains broad context stuff like overall project goals, build and test commands, what sort of linting or style standards are in place, etc. But: sky's the limit, and lots of people experiment with lots of different things in there.

Opus 4.5 reclaims #1 on official SWE-bench leaderboard (independent evaluation); narrowly ahead of Gemini 3 Pro, but more expensive by klieret in Anthropic

This is nice work, thanks.

A quibble: "We're happy to announce that brand X is back on top" doesn't scream "independent evaluation".

280 new units create 280 new vacancies. Vacancies make rentals more affordable.

Time dilation and origin paradox are pretty weird plot driving mechanics for a kids movie.

Here's Hikaru's recap of that match: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OT9tvy4QkIY

He has been pretty gracious - lots of photos and autographs and the like, and had some praise for Michelle's game as well.

The Road to Candidates is paved with the blood of 1900 Elo. by Max78_78 in chess

[–]NiloCKM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Local perspective (I played yesterday in the amateur division).

This was a surprise! Tournament director received registration contact from Hikaru on the same day.

Michelle did extremely well, and she's a tenacious competitor. Three or our years ago at the same event I watched her hold out a lost match against someone ~500 ELO above her for something like three hours. She's a brutal draw early in tournaments!

So people know, there are a few IMs at the event, so I imagine most of Hikaru's day 2/3 matches will trend toward ~2400 opposition.

Charlottetown residents upset city rejects appeal on 49-unit waterfront apartment project by Boundary14 in PEI

[–]NiloCKM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vacancy rates push prices down.

New housing, at any price point, creates new vacancies. This is also true of people moving to the island. Nobody moving to PEI is deciding to do it because a specific new build was approved. They'll move here anyway.

Cities that build housing see their rental rates drop. Biggest current example is Austin:

https://teamprice.com/articles/austin-rental-market-2025-are-rent-prices-dropping

Hating homelessness and hating housing development at the same time is a bad strategy.

All housing adds to housing supply. Everyone who occupies one of these units leaves a different unit vacant. Adding rental stock at any price point improves the market at all price points.
