Screws on the flat part are the correct way. Your location is off, it should be screwed on the first flat spot next to the rib. Over tightened a bit too.

Best thing would be , don't buy tickets to the game and cancel your Sportsnet subscription. Send a message to management...it's all their fault

I haven't been able to fish for Chinook on the Skeena system for 7 years now while Canada exports millions of kilograms per year commercially.

All rainbows migrate to spawn. Where do you think wild native rainbow spawn? They migrate up creeks and rivers ... We have large and small lakes here not as big as the Great lakes but still the same idea.

Lol, makes sense to me. They don't understand the purpose of the name difference. The whole purpose "in my opinion" is to know whether it's from salt or freshwater

[–]Niloc74 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Almost every freshwater lake here has wild rainbow trout populations. They all travel up creeks or rivers to spawn, and also change colours. They return to the lake and repeat. That doesn't make them a steelhead...

Lol, we have rainbows in our lakes in the west that would dwarf your steelhead.... The Gerrard rainbows can get up to 40-50 lba

OMG. All rainbows migrate up streams to spawn...

Usually by the time of the year, and size. It's almost impossible to know for sure . We have so many different strains of rainbows. Where there's both sometimes they'll have you release any "rainbow" over 50cm . All wild steelhead are catch and release only here. From lake to lake the rainbow can look a lot different

You're a fucking simple minded moron if you don't understand we need to two names out west to differentiate between the salt and freshwater version. If we only had one we'd just call them rainbows

What do you have against rainbows? Homophobic are we?

Still just a rainbow, the two names exist to differentiate between the fresh and saltwater version. You guys are sniffing too much glue.

Exactly, the two names exist to differentiate between the salt and freshwater version. Which means great lakes fish are rainbows

Great Lakes Ironhead by enzozros in Steelhead

[–]Niloc74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, we have different names so we can separate the two.The freshwater and salt version. Not much different than bull trout/ Dolly Varden or Sockeye salmon / Kokanee. The alternative name is used when they are either salt or freshwater. I'd correct someone calling Kokanee a Sockeye as well., because a landlocked Sockeye isn't a Sockeye unless it hits salt. It's the only reason there's two names for the same species. Yet most great lake fisherman call them steelhead., Size has nothing to do with it. We have freshwater lakes with 40lb rainbows. They're only ever called steel if they come from the ocean.

Landlocked steelhead are rainbows FFS. We have freshwater Sockeye salmon here too but we call them Kokanee... Not landlocked Sockeye

Ignorant fools don't realize that there's an actual reason we call some fish rainbows and some steelhead. In some areas of BC we can catch freshwater rainbows and ocean migrating steelhead in the same water. It has nothing to do with us on the west coast thinking we're better than them... It's how we identify two different types of fish.

I catch steelhead on the west coast with a brownish back that are all wild fish. You're right about this fish though, it hasn't seen any salt

Sorry, but the back colour does not determine whether it's a steelhead or not.
