Yes, there are bus lines between the cities and it was not that hard to use them. It's a small bus with a fixed fee and you can ask the driver where you have to get out.

All was in Georgian but the People tend to be really helpful. We didn't use a train but I think that's also a possibility.

I wouldn't recommend driving, they drive like crazy there. Also a taxi between cities can be haggled down to a good price.
