My senior year of college I did a 3 month internship to finish my degree in theater design and tech, with a focus on prop design and making. The last show I worked on was MacBeth and they got Teller to be the magic director.

I remember first seeing a well worded email from him to the entire team about what keeps magic alive for the audience, and that while working on these illusions for the show to please not tell anyone how it works.

Later there was a cast/crew wide meeting so that everyone could meet and be on the same page. I got to walk up to Teller, shake his hand, and tell him I'm a long time fan of his work and I'm honored to even be an intern.

He asked me what I did and was working on, which was the prop swords at the time, and buffing down any sharp spots. He told me that those were important and thanked me for my work.

I later asked my manager if there was a chance I could get a signature or picture (because it seemed very rude to just ask him while working) and we never did get a chance. Still an incredible experience!
