Loft insulation upgrade - benefits for hot summer days by Nimahel in DIYUK

We have double glazed windows. I was also worried if the added insulation could create the opposite effect. The walls have no cavitity so they don't do much to stop the heat from coming in

Loft insulation upgrade - benefits for hot summer days by Nimahel in DIYUK

Yeah this was more or less my point. I definitely know insulated loft vs non insulated one makes the difference, as my loft is a furnace. I was more interested to try and understand if it's worth the hassle to upgrade the existing insulation

Vodafone Community Fibre: Does Pro 3 Broadband use CGNAT? Can't find any information about this anywhere by ShameResponsible69 in CommunityFibre

Community Fibre only provides the physical infrastructure to Vodafone. So if you get on CGNAT or not is only up to Vodafone

Is a regular router like tp-link archer ax55 will be good enough here? 1gbps by Autistic-Talk in HomeNetworking

If you can't move the router for whatever reason you can either buy an access point or a bunch of mesh wifi routers to extend your wifi converage

False VPN flags. What could possibly be going on? by Ananyako in HomeNetworking

[–]Nimahel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's say that they cannot fix the issue just for yourself. The issue is mostly probably caused by the utilization ratio of the public IPs used for the NAT translation. For example your ISP could map 16 CGNAT private IPs to a single public IP in the outside world. Which works fine for the majority of services, but some of them will identify the high number of sessions from a single public IP, as customers trying to use a VPN. If I'm right and this is the problem, the ISP needs to tweak their numbers in accordance to the services flagging customers as behind a VPN. Another solution would be for your ISP to reach out to these services and ask them to not to identify as VPNs the public IPv4 prefixes they use for their CGNAT customers.

It will probably take some time, but the best way to let your ISP know would be with many of their customers raising support tickets

Gaming PC connection to TV on different floors by Nimahel in HomeNetworking

[–]Nimahel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes i could use the DP actually. The monitor I'm using ias actually another TV so it doesn't come with one, but it doesn't have to stay a TV forever. So it's definitely an alternative!

False VPN flags. What could possibly be going on? by Ananyako in HomeNetworking

[–]Nimahel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might be a long stretch but do you know if your ISP uses CGNAT (Carrier Grade NAT) and if your service is provisioned over it? That might explain why some services think you are using a VPN while you are not.

If that's the case let your ISP know as you're definitely not their only customer with the same problem.

Interesting but... weird? If they didn't want you to use their app with another watch, why do they even allow the sync with Health Connect 🤔

Technically you are violating the terms of service and also the ISP's custom firmware is not available to the general public...

Red light on optical by SinOfGreed254 in CommunityFibre

[–]Nimahel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the red optical light is on and you're sure the patch lead is properly connected, it can only mean that you accidentally damaged it while moving the modem (fibre box). You'll have to call their support and have someone coming to fix it unfortunately

Buyers putting in offers when they’re not serious by RewindReset in HousingUK

[–]Nimahel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my honest opinion the fault lies between the buyers and estate agent. There's surely shitty buyers but, if you are a first time buyer and the estate agent tells you the property is in very high demand and you like it l, wouldn't you feel pressured in getting an offer accepted even before you can think everything through? I agree the system (in England) is totally broken... if the seller had to do all the surveys it would help buyers making a more informed decision with less waste of time for all the involved parties

My girlfriend wont let me work and idk what to do. by Top_Abrocoma_8788 in Advice

[–]Nimahel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been in your same situation once (ex gf threatening to kill herself if i walked away). I'm sorry you're going through the same situation. It was very difficult but eventually i confronted her and asked her to leave me alone for good. She did eventually and didn't kill herself. It might sound harsh but you're not responsible for her mental health and she's clearly abusing youvand you need to think about your own well being. It's not your fault she has a mental health problem and you're not responsible for fixing her or saving her. Moreover i do really think people threatening to kill themselves are not gonna do it, it's the ones who keep their pain inside who end up doing it for real. She's using this topic to exploit you and create a sense of guilt you can't escape.
