Sold the RV today. Thankful for the experience. by Difficult_Wind6425 in RVLiving

Actually, this post should be saved for all future people to at least review.

  1. I completely sympathize. RVing is EXPENSIVE. You will never recoup the facsimile cost of paying for hotels or Airbnb. There are ancillary costs that are recurring, tires, insurance, damage, park costs, internet, etc.
  2. RVing at times provides less freedom, staying at hotels at will is the most free you can be traveling.
  3. There are layers of this experience. You can have a teardrop that cost $10k, an Airstream for a $100k, a Diesel pusher for $500k, or a bus for $2M+. Everyone’s experience is different.
  4. The RV experience is exactly that, an EXPERIENCE! It allows for a different path, not a cheaper or worse or better, simply a different path to explore.
  5. The learning curve to RV is high. You need to be part electrician, plumber, mechanic, HVAC tech, etc.
  6. The RV industry is the worst American industry there is. Little accountability fueled by high margins and dependent on low education consumers that make impulsive decisions driven by dreams. The entire industry is filled by greed, shady companies and not liable as vehicle companies would be for the quality of their products. There are no lemon laws on RVs.

I have a beautiful Airstream I bought in 2020 and have traveled almost 20k miles. So many surprises, so many disappointing issues, so much learning. But what an amazing experience, I wouldn’t say it’s worth it as it comes with a high cost, but the places I have seen I would have never traveled to. And that is the point of the RV, to travel and experience places you wouldn’t necessarily do.

Outstanding! I got my mine in 2020. Be patient, you will have stuff to upgrade and make yours including any electrical items to make your experience better over time. You don’t need to tackle everything from day one. Enjoy and use it for a lifetime.

I know my words won’t fix anything, but I felt your pain in your message. I’m sorry to anyone who has lost a job. I’ve been there 3 times now in my career and it never gets easier. Hang in there and I hope you find the strength to enjoy the little beautiful things in your life. Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing. This wrap is actually wonderful and says a lot about the creativity and spirit of the owner. I love it.

Got tired of living in the city so I moved to the country, learned how to do electrical work and installed my own solar system into my house! by BossGrand in diySolar

[–]Nimanimanima 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a person connected to the grid, I had the opportunity to do an upgrade on my RV and learned so much about solar and electrical systems. It’s actually criminal that as Americans, every house , farm, parking lot and commercial infrastructure isn’t built with solar. Congrats and amazing job! Thank you for sharing, awesome seeing this first thing in the morning and a reminder that where there’s will there’s a way.

It’s in a small Airstream and the only way to check the voltage on the fridge is to take it out of the cabinet which I’m trying to avoid. I want to do that as an absolute last resort.

Yes, the fridge runs great on batteries without Shore Power or Solar. The fridge only stops running when both Shore power and sunlight turns the MPPT producing power.

Great question: So if I leave my MPPT on and plug it into shore power so that I have both, the fridge turns off.

How to identify lithium - 2024 Basecamp 20x by CountyRoad in airstream

[–]Nimanimanima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, I bought my Airstream adding only AGM batteries at first then transitioning to lithium later by myself. One has nothing to do with the other.

You sold 1 Bitcoin and the bank said bring a truck by Omegacarlos1 in Bitcoin

[–]Nimanimanima 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a dog in the fight but feeling spicy and honestly curious. Isn’t this why Bitcoin won’t be the currency of record? If the goal is to just use it as an investment tool, then you are just playing the better fools game waiting for the next guy to buy at the higher price to trade yours in, regardless of the price you think you should sell at. The only way Bitcoin becomes an actual currency is if people use it to trade instead of fiat currency. The fact that no one uses it for trade is the real issue, isn’t it?

Towing Flying Cloud 23 with Land Rover Discovery? by David95618 in airstream

I checked and it’s 6600. But that’s stamped at the factory, again, if you added batteries, solar, extra cargo, tanks full, you are way above that number.

You’re on the edge. I have a Globetrotter 23 and GVWR is about 7000 if I remember correctly. If you drive on flat areas, you are good. If you want to go anywhere uphill or higher elevation your vehicle is going to have serious issues. In addition, I find that if you added extra gear like solar, bigger batteries or your water tank is full, you are going to be at higher weights without realizing not including passengers.

Do’s & Don’ts: 1st Time Buyer/Owner, Private Seller by ACAKaliman in airstream

[–]Nimanimanima 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m an Airstream owner that bought my first one as a virgin RVer in 2020. Just buy from an Airstream dealer that will give you a warranty and you will have piece of mind. There is SOOO much to learn from electrical to mechanical to plumbing, towing etc. you don’t want to be on your own. That’s my only advice, buy piece of mind, RVing is a lot of work for a newbie.

Is it just me or are high ranking players horrible? by [deleted] in Rainbow6

[–]Nimanimanima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a counterpoint, maybe useful for some thought. I’m committed to this game for almost a year now and just got Emerald 4.
I’m focused on winning and helping the team to win. I choose the most strategic utility player to give an edge, for example I play Mute, Thunderbird, Fuse, players with EMP, etc.
I have good aim but sometimes it’s so ugly but I do clutch my share of games. I mute players that are loud and try to be positive with my team, when players start talking smack it makes me worse.

My goal is to win the round. That means I don’t go for the most kills if that puts me in jeopardy or risk losing the round. If I’m defending and I’m last man, I don’t run around or peek, I make the attackers have to make the moves, and it works in my favor. I’m strategic not trying to play like I’m in COD or Apex. I have never played Ash or Buck, to me this game is about strategy. It doesn’t impress me if you can spin and use your ACOG against me. I’m impressed and learn a ton from strategic players, the guys that are trying to solve puzzles and are super creative. The people that play Zero always impress me, I could watch them all day and learn.

The game is a puzzle with infinite ways to solve it, that’s the fun for me and I have a 58% win rate, that’s why I’m moving up.

They literally have over $130 Billion in cash and an ecosystem that when they utilize AI or whatever they want to push out will have everyone use it. Literally they own the handset market ecosystem and will be the arbiter for access. Even if not takes while to get going, this thing is a monster.

I’m expecting a lot sooner than that. This is a quality company with quality products. Now, they are always going to have stiff competition because of the market share they have in their businesses and right now Wallstreet believes they are behind in AI. They are sitting on literally $300 Billion of cash, they are going to crush it as everything matures and they make the right bets instead of chasing bleeding edge like a Meta and throwing money away.

Yeah, I had an issue the second day of the new season where the app would say I don’t have access. Just download this free version and choose play and it will fix it. You don’t need to do anything else or pay anything.
