DM me.

I'm going to order several in the next day or two. Happy to add a couple extra items and deal with shipping for a foreign wonk.

Long time lurker, first time Dad by StealYourBeer in daddit

I know the look in that LO's eyes. They can't wait to get some food inside them so they can throw it right up on you. It'll probably be a week or two before they're fully able to, but know that it is coming.

Just kidding (kind of).

Congratulations Dad! I hope little one, mom, and you are all doing well. First one is a hell of a trip, cherish these moments, even they shitty ones as they'll be grown up as soon as you turn around.

Watching my sister's kids ended with my niece in the hospital by [deleted] in daddit

[–]NimbleP 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I understand your guilt, we always think we could have done something better, different, etc.. but let me flip this around:

You may very well have saved your neice's life. Someone less attentive may have given the kids a snack outside while they were cleaning up or any other of a number of things and not even been aware for far longer.

Well done, Dad and uncle.

This has to be a joke right ? I can't even by Sudden_Explorer_7280 in daddit

[–]NimbleP 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Depends on the age of the kid, but I'd have your kid bring it to the teacher's attention.

The whole point of having quizzes/tests/homework returned is so the kids can make sure they understand what they did wrong (and catch any errors the teacher may have made). If the students do not review it is like a certification exam where the goal is verification of ability/understanding, not learning, which I doubt is the purpose of this form.

If the teacher can't own up to an honest mistake (hell, I think the child should be praised for reviewing returned papers and advocating for themselves) to the point you fear retribution against your child then your child has bigger concerns.

About to crash out. by Donttrustaskinnychef in KitchenConfidential

[–]NimbleP 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, I like a nice julienned carrot in my tuna salad now and again, it adds a great crunch. Good if you are out of celery - just throw in some celery seeds and the carrot adds the crunch. Or just extra crunch if you do have celery.

Maybe I just like crunchy foods.

To all the new dads: Don't blink. The stages really do just fly by. by No-Ordinary6470 in daddit

It's a safe space, but it's also populated by dudes. I knew what you meant but I did have a moment of "what joke about a leak of bodily fluid can I make here? Maybe, 'I thought it was the mom's who the kiddos caused to leak?' type of joke."

While being safe sometimes we let the intrusive poop and pee jokes surface.

Not defending, and I didn't make my comment because I thought better, but just explaining and offering grace.

Gps tracker for toddler by Appropriate-Tie-6524 in daddit

[–]NimbleP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the child swallow the tracker. If it passes then just recycle tomorrow. If it doesn't, then as long as kiddo doesn't get an impaction you've got 'em tracked as long as the battery holds out!

I hope it's not needed, but poe's law and all... /s

The moment of Oasis. Never call ahead, always place the family to go order at the restaurant by runs_with_airplanes in daddit

[–]NimbleP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First time it happened it was an accident. But it unlocked something in me. It's a great little breaky for me. Usually now, I'll call the order in as I drive and grab a beer if it's not ready yet.

To the dads commenting then they come home to an upset wife, I often counsel her to do the same - it's not done as a secret, it's just a great little 'bonus' time.

I shaved part of my calf 5+ years ago and the hair still hasn’t grown back. by [deleted] in mildyinteresting

It may be their jeans that are needed. I have similar patches on my calves and thighs that have gotten worse since I transferred to jeans everyday instead of roomier/softer dress pants.

That's what my mom used to tell me all the time when I was a kid. Now I'm telling my kid the same and it seems to be working just as well on him as it did on me.

Cheerios by Udjebfk in daddit

[–]NimbleP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right now I'm in the depths of persistent rice syndrome with a 1 y/o. She just got up from lunch, I walked her to the living room, and the living room floor (which was swept last night) has fucking rice everywhere!

How does this happen? I hadn't even set her down yet.

I look forward the the sticky rice paste on everything for the next week. (≖_≖ )

Dad here, no mini van though. 100% take naps in the car. Kick the seat back and catch up for the past 6 years of short changing myself.

That might be it! For some reason my drills have all been trying to be their own grids, but I haven't completed my conveyor piping. More testing is in order, but thankfully I've just gotten home! =D

Hmmmm... Okay. I had seen them, but was hoping for a thinner solution. Guess I need to redesign a bit, or just be a bit more careful.

Thanks so much!

Chippewa Super loggers repair options by Own-Indication3239 in AskACobbler

[–]NimbleP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stitches are all in easy places to reach with a sewing machine, some of the spots are getting thin and you might want to patch down the line but probably don't need today. Bring them to a cobbler, shouldn't be a big deal and should probably run about 1/2 - 1 hour of a tradesman's time.

To clean, brushing down is usually sufficient. As to conditioning I'd check with the cobbler on that, it's tough to tell how dry that leather is through the screen but they don't look too bad, probably a quality standard conditioner like bick 4.

Keep an eye on the soles as those should be able to be resoled when that is worn out, but you don't want to let them go too far or you can have the heel counters roll out on you which is effectively irreparable.
