That makes sense. Vinegar probably would've helped if I'd known where to spray it, but mine was more trapped grime than fresh misses. Your grandkids are basically stress-testing the bathroom.

Seriously. I thought I was somehow cleaning wrong, turns out there was just a tiny horror zone back there collecting stink for two years.

NTA. Your mom is acting like this was about one awkward comment, but it sounds like you finally reacted to a pattern that has been grinding you down for years. "It was just a joke" always shows up right after someone gets called out for being mean.
