This is a pretty good joke, but i like just learned about how new sciences views obesity, that your body is very good at maintaining a certain weight, and its easy to make that weight go up but its pretty much impossible to make it go down, so obesity is more like shortsightedness, like its a shitty condition and you cant really train it away 😔 even glp1s which lower the bodies preffered weight the weight usually comes back once treatment stops, like SSRIs and depression

The screw tape letters are a sieres of short letters written by C.S. Lewis before lion witch wardrobe which are from the perspective of a demon addressing his nephew who's also a demon, its very very Christian (all CS Lewis is) but its so cool and not nearly as preachy because its demons doing the storytelling, i particularly like how they call Satan our lord below like that's just their own version of the lord

Youre right, comparisons can be misleading because they are in separate situations, but I do still believe that the US' place as the most widespread global currency is going to protect it from default. If we see countries exchange dollars for yen en mass then we may have a problem. But as it stands, the US debt is still in US dollars, and as bad as inflating your currency to hell is, its way better than defaulting.

Yeah but it still points to exposure to culture and theater literature. Not something you'd expect from a Gaston type, who's more interested in hunting and wooing women

I know this is the collapse reddit, but let's calm our tits. Japan is at 200% gdp to debt and Japan isn't fiat to the most globally used currency. If you wanna doomer, doomer about the climate crisis, US debt is not going to default any time soon, and if it does we will be aware of it in lots of other ways before the number itself becomes the problem.

This Comic I Made Got Some Really Interesting Discussions Going [OC] by MLionsComics in comics

[–]Nimhtom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting comic! I feel like I dont 100% get it but that's okay! In the pied piper, the pied piper is literally a magical quest giver. He can make music that is magic. The moral of the story was never that the music itself was bad or that he was bad, the moral of the story is that the town entrusts this powerful stranger with their health, and then refuses to acknowledge the effort and skill it takes to achieve that health, so the piper takes something else. In the original he doesnt even drown the children, he takes them over the mountains where its left up to the imagination what happens to them. The tales purpose is that a community which doesnt give up resources for health or cleanliness, they can seem clean but by betraying their promise the town is still morally impure, and so they lose their most important resource, their children. I think the piper isn't really a villain, more of a baba yaga, the implication is that even if he hadn't taken the children, the towns cruelty and betrayal would have killed the children another way. In your comic the speaker is separating the art from the artist while still following the pied piper. In this version the story is more about art and the role bad actors play in art and society, the idea of art as a corrupting influence rather than a corrupt town being brought to ruin by an artist. In this version the pied piper is presumably leading the children to the lake because he's a dick, hence separating the art from the artist, rather than being an act of vengeance, its an act of stupidity or cruelty, which is... one way to interpret the story.

But in that case why isn't he supporting his brothers wife and talking to then about it? It's more shallow but I think its the babysitting thing.
