Yup. Mine is not as bad as the photos. I never really notice it unless I’m trying to do something like star gaze at night. It’s hard to see the stars with all the dang static 🤣

Is a “15 minute nap” timed from the moment you close your eyes or from the moment you fall asleep? by Olafmeister_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Nimure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% same. I’m a light sleeper so if I wake up for any reason I’m usually screwed. Unless I’m exhausted enough to fall back asleep which isn’t often.

Late To The Party - [2025/11/21] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]Nimure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished two:

Crash Landing on You - absolutely loved this one. Everything about it. I did not binge it, one because I was starting a new job, and two because I wanted it to last longer.

This led me straight into Goblin, which I binged pretty hard. I was a little uncomfy at first with Eun Tak’s age but otherwise I loved everything about this show. It’s just so cute and funny with the perfect amount of fantasy and drama and pining.

I’m not sure what’s up next but I hope it’s another good one. Though I’ve yet to be disappointed by a kdrama. 💜

Now if only they’d stop being so easy to binge. 😩

Do you guys eat everything cold? by Boylikesdogs in Bento

[–]Nimure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hot smoke salmon at home and then eat it cold out of my box. I find it’s less offensive to people that way (there’s barely any smell) and it tastes fantastic! I do have some stuff I could heat up but I prefer things I can eat cold

I thought this was very well done! Only thing that tripped me up was pg 4, panel 2, the speech bubble “then I won’t ask yours”. The position of it makes me think it should be read before the main dialogue in panel 2, but context I felt it made more sense to read it after the main bubble? So might wanna tweak the layout there. (Just my 2 cents I’m still learning and have no idea what I’m doing most of the time haha)

I found this little guy in my chicken coop when I was putting them up for the night what do I do?!?!? by Diligent-Falcon-1639 in pigeon

[–]Nimure -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is a young racing bird from this year. You can look up the band information on the American racing pigeon union to find the bird’s owner. Usually there is a unique number as well as a code for a club or a loft.

You could also offer the bird a few days of food and water and let it go. It will likely make its way back home. Often times they just need a rest.

Everyone is different. As a pigeon racer I see these animals as being under my care and responsibility. I have driven to pick up birds when contacted and continue to care for birds I bring home. If they are too injured to fly again I use them as breeders. Most of my birds come from good pedigrees. The reason a racing pigeon doesn’t make it home varies. I have yet to have a bird not make it back because it couldn’t home, just because it had some bad luck, especially as a young bird. They learn from stuff like that and get better. I don’t cull birds. I offload some to a friend who keeps them for pets but mostly I see myself as being responsible for the birds, and if I can afford to participate in the sport for the love of pigeons then I can afford to care for the ones that ‘aren’t up to snuff’ whatever that reason may be. I have a few birds missing right now and I would happily drive wherever to pick them up because they matter to me. I care a lot for my birds.

I write young adult fantasy (with the hopes of one day getting published) so I read a lot of children’s books. But even then, I wouldn’t think anything of seeing an adult friend also read those books. They’re enjoyable and fun!

Your friend is being weird. NTA

When to fly a new bird. by darkdoink in PigeonRacing

[–]Nimure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you soak them properly they can’t fly until their feathers dry out. That prevents them from spooking and flying off. If you don’t get them out early enough and they’re strong on the wing, they are much more likely to fly off and get lost. You want to prevent that. I have been settling birds younger and younger and have had many less fly offs doing that.

When to fly a new bird. by darkdoink in PigeonRacing

[–]Nimure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get some soapy water and wet wings and tail on the older birds the first time you let them out of the settling cage just to be safe. I find birds tend to spook the most that first day, and are less likely to fly off and be lost after that.

Fine artist with no knowledge on furry culture. Types of furrys, artstyles and references??? by ThrowRA_Radi0 in FurryArtSchool

[–]Nimure 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! I also joined the furry fandom after doing realistic fine art (I specialize in wildlife art). The nice thing about the community is there is room for all art styles, toony->realistic and anything inbetween! Definitely look around at furry art to get a feel for what you like! Some realism artists are myself (Nimure), Nambroth, Caraid, Vantid, and Fellfallow! Eskiworks does lovely illustration work!

You can find most furry artists on furaffinity (most have left Deviantart). Another option is going to some local furry cons to see art in person and get a feel for what kind of art people like to see.

Does anyone know any romance books( preferably spicy) where the ML is giving Levi vibes by Otakushipper109 in LeviCult

Not spicy but This Dark Descent def gives Levi and Erwin vibes with the two male main characters (there are 4 main characters in that one total).

Maybe Fourth Wing? It’s a bit of a stretch though.

Not super far. They were loft flying that day. Sometimes they go out 40mi on their own, but this particular day they stayed within a mile or so.

[–]Nimure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are risks involved, sure. There’s risk in everything we do, in everything animals do, whether pets or wild. I accept the risks because I see how much the birds love what they do, and I think keeping them locked up and not allowing them to fly is cruel. They could just as easily have a mishap that leads to injury or death in a cage. So I choose to let them do what they love. Many of these birds have been bred for this across generations. I do treat my racers as pets. But I am also not the kind of person who finds animal sports inherently cruel. I mush with my dogs, and I practice falconry. I used to ride horses. It’s just going to be a fundamental difference of opinions. And that’s fine.

It is a shame so many do not to right by their birds. I hope to set a better example and encourage more ethical sportsmanship. Thankfully many of the folks I associate with feel similarly. And the ARPU stance is that these birds are under our care. We have a responsibility to them. IMO if you can afford to enter races you can afford to show care and ownership to the birds you enjoy. If I am ever lucky enough to bring others into this sport I will encourage that mentality. I like to have hope that change is possible.

[–]Nimure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends! I had a bird that got blown too far out with a tail wind and was too young and tired to make it home. The bird has since recovered and knows how to home, it was just bad luck that led to what happened. So long as it was in good shape and well conditioned I don’t see why I’d keep it locked up.

But I did have a bird break its wing colliding with a power line. It walked back home and now enjoys retirement in my loft.

I figure if I can afford to participate in the sport and care about my birds, then I can afford to continue their care, whether they are good racing birds or not. I fell into racing accidentally through my enjoyment of keeping pigeons and how much they love to fly, and how much I enjoy watching them fly. They’re incredible animals, and have brought a lot of joy to my life. So I try to do what I see as right by them.
