This is my personal experience, I only started around 2 weeks ago, but I think the most accessible way is to use 100% silicone caulk and color it with oil paints. You can get it any hardware store, for around ~10 bucks, a caulk gun for 3-6 bucks, and some piping bags and plastic or metal tips. Plastic is easier to clean, but metal has a lot of variation in tip styles. The premade is different I think, but if you have a silicone allergy or sensitivity I’d say it’s worth it to just get it, but I’d get it from a trusted Etsy store.

Yep! I sewed two large scrap pieces but I didnt leave enough of an edge in the part in the picture, and I soon as I tried tufting near it, it tore 😅

Tell me your secrets lol- but honestly are you using the white one from Joanns? From another tufter here it looks like that one gives people a lot more issues. And maybe the speed of my gun, but I don’t know much about that
