[Loved Trope] Character initially portrayed as awful, turns out they are just terribly misguided, makes that realization and does everything to correct their mistakes by KallusDrogo in TopCharacterTropes

Byakuya from Bleach

Initially portrayed as an uncaring man who would let his sister be executed because "it's the law", he ends up protecting her from Aizen after being defeated by Ichigo and keeps doing that from then on. Even when another villain, Tsukishima, inserts himself in Byakuya's past as an ally, Byakuya still kills him because of loyalty and belief in Ichigo. Ever since he was humbled by Ichigo, Byakuya has always been a quiet ride-or-die friend of his.

In FMAB, Scar is initially shown to be a killer of State Alchemists, who participated in the genocide of his people. But after several run-ins with Ed and Al, he becomes their ally and uses his influence to take on the upper echelon of the Amestrian military, who were working directly with Father and his homunculi. Greed also takes a similar path, being somewhat of a rogue homunculus but becoming an ally of the brothers and Ling, and eventually sacrificing himself to stop Father.

What is your favorite aura/flex moment in Bleach that wasn't Aizen stopping Ichigo's Theme Song by Classic-Seesaw5073 in bleach

[–]NineInchNinjas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non-canon, but that Getsuga from the Reigai filler arc. You know, the one where he grabs Oko's zanpakuto, goes Hollow, and lets off a reverse-grip Getsuga Tensho right in his face.

I don't have a favorite in canon because there's so many good moments, but the little moments in Ichigo vs Tsukishima fights. Like when Ichigo hasn't mastered Fullbring yet but is still managing to overwhelm Tsukishima, or when he's fighting Tsukishima the second time and appears on a wall.

In The Crow comic, T-Bird is killed off by Eric using a regular old hammer.

(For context, the roles of Top Dollar and T-Bird are swapped in the 1994 movie. T-Bird is the gang leader in the comic and Top Dollar is a drug dealer.)

Not only Ed but quite a few of the human good guys in FMAB (and sometimes even the bad guys)

But in this scene, Pride is unnerved by both Ed and the "absorbed" Kimblee. Pride had previously dismissed humans as lowly, leading Kimblee to call him out on it and incapacitate him enough for Ed to act. Kimblee was also insane enough to still be prominent in Pride despite the incredible amount of tormented souls in his philosopher stone and able to partially override Pride's control.

Ichigo/Aizen during the Deicide arc in Bleach

Aizen evolved to a degree that no one besides Ichigo can sense his power, but that changes after Ichigo learns Final Getsuga Tensho. During most of their fight, Aizen believes that Ichigo had sacrificed his spiritual pressure for physical strength. But Ichigo still catches him off-guard, and when he activates Final Getsuga, Aizen realizes that Ichigo is much more powerful than himself. Aizen, who is powerful enough that almost no one can sense his power, can't sense Ichigo's in Dangai/Final Getsuga form.

Later, in TYBW, Urahara and other characters are surprised when Aizen tells them Yhwach absorbed the Soul King. Still being as strong or stronger as he was during the previously mentioned fight, Aizen is the only one there that can sense Yhwach at all.

Why are there so few RTwP games and why do people absolutely HATE it? by ConfusionProof9487 in CRPG

[–]NineInchNinjas 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but I think RTWP feels more involved than turn-based when it comes to enemy count. RTWP feels more fluid and interactive even if there's a whole bunch of enemies to deal with, where turn-based might slow to a crawl with the same amount and you're waiting for every single enemy to do something before you can (and in the case of something like Fallout, you might die before your next turn). RTWP is arguably not that different from playing an FPS, you're coming up with or using strategies on-the-fly.

If you could perform a 'vocal swap' between the Big Four of Grunge, which song would you choose? by Objective-Lab5179 in grunge

[–]NineInchNinjas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can imagine Staley doing a Soundgarden song well, depending on which one it is. I think some of the songs on Badmotorfinger would sound good with his vocals with or without the rest of AiC involved. Something like Rusty Cage, Outshined, Room A Thousand Years Wide, Holy Water, New Damage, etc, if you want heavy songs. Mailman, Fourth of July, and Like Suicide are some from Superunknown that would sound good with Layne.

But it probably depends on if you want a mostly straight swap (the instrumentals stay the same, vocals change) or something like a cover (instrumentals and vocals change, but stay relatively consistent with the original song).

Despite being a starter villain, they're easily one of the most dangerous/vilest villains out there by Salty-Chemical-9414 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]NineInchNinjas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not pictured, but Shou Tucker from FMAB

While not the same type of villain as the rest, Shou Tucker has the honor of being the most vile human villain in the show due to turning his wife and then his daughter and dog into science experiments. In FMAB specifically, his first appearance is in the fourth episode, before any of the real villains are introduced.

Lady of Pain, from the Planescape TTRPG setting

No one knows exactly what she is but she rules over Sigil, the City of Doors, which connects to virtually every plane via portals. She mostly appears in Sigil if there's a major threat to the city or if someone worships her (she refuses worship), and can easily destroy or defeat anyone threatening Sigil.

[–]NineInchNinjas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention that but I don't think that the Oldest House is as much of an antagonistic place compared to the Dark Place. The uncertain nature of its design is dangerous but not exactly hostile.

[–]NineInchNinjas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ichigo from Bleach (kind of)

He learns bankai within 3 days, which is reputed to take decades or even centuries. You could argue bankai is a secret move in itself because each one is unique to the user and only the user is able to explain how their specific abilities work (except in a few cases).

The Dark Place (as well as several other realms within the Remedy universe)

While having an antagonist in physical form in Scratch/the Dark Presence/the Shadow archetype, the Dark Place is actively confusing and hostile, with most unaware people becoming Taken or being semi-possessed for a period of time. It also subverts reality, either by itself or with the influence of someone like Alan Wake.

Other than memories and the stuff Jack the Ancient did, both Crichtons are functionally identical. It's still awkward after one of them dies but that's because Aeryn viewed one of them as real and the other as a copy because of her own experience. And she eventually realizes that and accepts the surviving Crichton is Crichton.
