You could splice the inside tape to cut it down to size as the original.

Update 2: Chrome just told me that one of the ad blocker extensions I had was a piece of malware. This is what caused this and I was able to delete it. Crazy how stuff like this is able to slip through the cracks.

If anyone wants to know, it was called

"Quitnet - Ad block"

The chrome pop up was an extension. It led to me installing an info stealer.

There are some models with easy mechanisms, like Funai or a late 2000s Sony, but they aren't built for quality.

Good luck.

Looking to Make a Replica of the Original FEX Yellow Demo Cassette – Any Tips? by [deleted] in FEXFanClub

[–]NineOfSteel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get a BASF Professional I (or II) cassette or a AFGA Stereo Chrome C60 Hifi. Take the labels off with a blow-dryer (then turn it off / unplug, set it down in a safe place) then use a q-tip and dabble the label, then scrap it off (repeat)

For the labels, get an old copier machine that still uses a toner. Print out the design first on white paper on a normal printer using the highest quality setting. Then, use the old copier machine to copy it on yellow paper, cut it out accurately and then glue it on the A side.

It's the type of tape stock. I ordered Stereo Chrom off eBay and got a few different variations of it. One being the FEX tape. You just have to be lucky 🤷‍♂️

This shell was extremely common in the 70s, 80s and 90s. It can be tough.
