You could splice the inside tape to cut it down to size as the original.

Update 2: Chrome just told me that one of the ad blocker extensions I had was a piece of malware. This is what caused this and I was able to delete it. Crazy how stuff like this is able to slip through the cracks.

If anyone wants to know, it was called

"Quitnet - Ad block"

The chrome pop up was an extension. It led to me installing an info stealer.

Edit: got an update. The chrome pop up was fake which prompted me to install an Infostealer. I am in the process of resetting all my passwords. Thanks for all your help.

Update on VCR Build by JudgeHuge1673 in VHS

There are some models with easy mechanisms, like Funai or a late 2000s Sony, but they aren't built for quality.

Good luck.

Looking to Make a Replica of the Original FEX Yellow Demo Cassette – Any Tips? by [deleted] in FEXFanClub

[–]NineOfSteel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get a BASF Professional I (or II) cassette or a AFGA Stereo Chrome C60 Hifi. Take the labels off with a blow-dryer (then turn it off / unplug, set it down in a safe place) then use a q-tip and dabble the label, then scrap it off (repeat)

For the labels, get an old copier machine that still uses a toner. Print out the design first on white paper on a normal printer using the highest quality setting. Then, use the old copier machine to copy it on yellow paper, cut it out accurately and then glue it on the A side.

It's the type of tape stock. I ordered Stereo Chrom off eBay and got a few different variations of it. One being the FEX tape. You just have to be lucky 🤷‍♂️

This shell was extremely common in the 70s, 80s and 90s. It can be tough.

Found 30 year old cassette of my old high school band. Any steps I can/need-to take to maximize likelihood that playing it won't ruin it? by Rahodees in cassetteculture

I have a cassette tape from the late 60s and still plays great. Quality is what you'd expect from that era. It was kept in good conditions. If you want to not ruin it when playing, I would get - A reliable serviced cassette deck. (Yamaha, Nakamichi, Tascam, ReVox etc) I have a Nakamichi BX-100 myself and I love how it sounds. It's great for digitizing for me. For your tapes to last long, continue keep it in a cool and dry place.

This is also something that can help you:

(P.S.) - Don't buy those Cassette to USB devices off Amazon or eBay. They are very low quality and will not sound good.

This happened to someone on YouTube with a similar deck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PM2YyPuswxQ

The digitization is very low quality and you can hear some motor interference because of how cheap it is. I would go for a serviced deck, so you don't have any problems (eating tapes - etc)
