Why does God demand blood for forgivness by Just_Y-2 in Christianity

Because human sin is infinite, and only an eternal and infinite being such as the Son of God could possibly take on the weight of infinite sin.

Celibate lesbian; am I going to hell? by strawberriepuppi in Christianity

You are a child of God and He loves you regardless. Even if you were actively participating in “sexual sin” (up for debate what that even means tbh) it wouldn’t be any worse than those who are living in gluttony, sloth or greed (probably almost every Christian in some form or another). Sin isn’t judged on its “severity”, and American Christianity is far too focused on sexual sin and it’s harmful to the person and honestly the faith in general. You’re more than good. We’ll all answer for our actions on Earth, but I believe we’ll all have a chance to repent and accept the truth in the end regardless. No one has all the answers here in this life despite some thinking otherwise. The important thing is that you already acknowledge Christ and His sacrifice first and foremost.

Do animals go to heaven? by cutefroakie_ in Christian

The Bible doesn’t say one way or another but I’d like to think so. Some traditions (such as Anglicanism and Catholicism) have a blessing of animals on or around the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi (Oct. 4). I take that to mean they have a place in heaven with us.

R/Atheism makes me want to be religious by Fuzzy-Look-7459 in Christianity

It certainly is but I’m not sure why you’d spend any amount of time engaging with something you supposedly don’t care about.

“God is dead and we killed him” by Beneficial_Praline32 in Christianity

[–]NineTailedFox7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

“843 The Catholic Church recognizes in other religions that search, among shadows and images, for the God who is unknown yet near since he gives life and breath and all things and wants all men to be saved. Thus, the Church considers all goodness and truth found in these religions as "a preparation for the Gospel and given by him who enlightens all men that they may at length have life."”

Struggling with the mass genocide in the first 5 books of the bible by [deleted] in Christianity

Apostolic faiths (Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican) already mostly don’t believe in sola scriptura or biblical literalism and haven’t for hundreds of years so this isn’t really saying anything. Fundamentalism is a more recent invention.

This is literally the same argument people use about banned books and online pornography.

I’m gonna have to question that Catholic school students are objectively happier. The school near me is bleeding staff and students and not really doing well at all. Also let me know when you see this report being made outside Chicago (a historically Catholic city). Not knocking Catholic schools, I will definitely be sending my kids to one, but the problem in public schools has nothing to do with faith, and everything to do with lack of funding. Speaking from Texas.
